Hello

Just popped on to give you all an update.

Since Thursday evening she's been on full feeds and today she went up to 9mls every hour!

Today the nurse said Ellie doesn't need to be in intensive care anymore and as soon as a bed is available "next door" she will be moving. Her brady's and de-sating have also decreased. If she continues to do as well as she's been doing they may start taking her off CPAP twice a day for an hour at a time.

We've never been in this position before and it feels really great. We've had so many "lows" it's so nice to have some positive feelings. This time last week she was having another blood transfusion, she had been "bagged" during the night for the second night in a row, she wasn't on any feeds. they were talking again about her having NEC. What a difference a week makes.

These last couple of days she's been doing "baby things" if you know what I mean. She's had a couple of tantrums, it's so nice to see her crying and losing her temper, probably not nice for her but nice to see she is a baby, if that makes sense.

I know this is a rollercoaster ride and things can change in a mater of seconds but I'm going to take this feeling and make the most of it. I'm so proud of my little girl.

I hope you all are ok and progressing well at whatever stage you are at. I think of you all lots. I read the boards and I get overwhelmed. No one can explain the "bond" you all have with each other and how much you support one another. It's amazing that the majority of us have never met! Best go my emotions are getting the better of me and I can't blame it on the pregnancy anymore!

Take care

Jo

Hello Jo

Wonderful, wonderful news. I am so pleased for you and your family and most of all for little Ellie. She has obviously inherited her mum's incredible strength! I think about you both everyday and I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Again, fantastic news.

Cheers

Jo-I am so happy you are getting good new this week. That is so great!! I had roommate about 10 years ago that had twins at about the same week you had ellie, and I went to visit the babies with her. I think I kinda have an idea about them being a baby and doing baby things. That is awsome she is doing baby things and you can see her personality starting to come out. Yahh. I hope things keep going great. I think of you often.

Jo- I am so happy that Ellie is progressing. My daughter has been home from the hospital for 2 months now and weighs 7.5 lbs!! At one time in the NICU she was 2.14 so Ellie will be there before you know it. I can feel your pain because I went through it also but it is just amazing how strong these babies are and all of this will be in the past in a few months!!

I know that everyone tells you to get some sleep, but they really mean it. When Piper Lynne was in the Nicu I had to drug myself to sleep!!! The best advice the nurses gave me was to take some time and spend it with my husband, when Ellie comes home there is no time left!!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Heather

Thank you again for your kind words. It means a lot.

Just a quick update. Ellie has been moved out of intensive care and is now in special care. She is still in her incubator but after fluctuating between 2lb 8 and 2lb 9oz she weighed in last night at a wopping 3lb!!

She is 4 hours off CPAP and 8 hours on. Every few days they increase this by an hour. When she is off CPAP she is now only on 0.35% of oxygen which is really good.

I can finally put clothes on her and she looks so grown up.

Things are finally looking up. She's 7 weeks today and hopefully on the road out of there.

Best wishes to you all

Jo

Hello All,

Just popped on for a quick update. Ellie is doing really well. Today she is completely off CPAP and only requiring 0.05-0.20% oxygen. She is a whopping 1.5 kilos (3lb 5oz)! She just needs to get bigger and learn to suck. We can finally see the light at the end of this very long tunnel.

Thank you all for your support you have given me at every stage.

Will be back on to update soon.

Take care

Jo
