When did your m/s go away?

Post by suzhan »

For the ladies with morning sickness (or better termed...all day sickness), when did it start to go away or get better?

Suzhan,
I have only had it weeks 6-9. I am currently in my 11th and don't have any morning sickness.

Unfortunately I have had it since week 8 and still do. It isn't as bad as it was since I am taking Zofran for it, but if i don't take the medication I would throw up most of the day. Most people stop after 12 weeks.

I starting with morning sickness about 6 weeks and it continued until week 16 or 17. Ugh it was a long few weeks. My doc did prescribe a med (phenegren)though to help--and it did. bridget

Mine was noticably better around week 14. However, I found one thing that really helped. You always hear about how people eat saltines or whatever first thing in the morning. For me, as soon as something hit my stomach I was queasy. Instead I made sure I ate something bland in the middle of the night, sometimes twice a night. It prevented my stomach from emptying and I can't tell you how much it helped! Just keep it by your bed, set and alarm and have a small snack. It is really hard to make yourself do it, but it made my day much easier to handle. Good luck!

Wow, it seems like everyone's experiences are so different. I've been really nauseous since about week 6-7 and unable to hardly eat a thing that I enjoyed. I was like you, Lucy, when I try to eat anything, I'm immediately queasy so I would just force the food down. Starting yesterday afternoon, though, I started feeling a bit better and this morning, I seemed to be a lot better. In a wierd way, it had me worried because it seemed a bit early to have the m/s go away. But, this morning, I went to my first OB appointment and saw my little one squirming around and waving at me so I guess I have no reason to worry (for me this is nearly impossible.) I guess I'll just enjoy a day without feeling sick - it's so nice I hardly know what to do with myself!

Thanks ladies for your responses - really helpful!

suzhan,
I spoke too soon. I am still getting nausea once in a while when I get hungry. However, it is not there all the time.

That's where I am too deepa - it's greatly improved since Monday but occassionally I still get the feeling like I'm gagging or nausea with certain foods or smells. However, I'm very willing to have this litte bit because it's soooooo much better than it has been. I used to be nauseous constantly all day long and nothing looked or tasted good.
