Just had my EC today and to our relief it went OK this time. One egg collected! Waiting for news tomorrow on fertilisation - it’s all down to nature now (and a bit of IVF magic).
Glad to be off the needles for a while. The nurses despaired at my thin veins again today and it took quite a while to get me rigged up with a needle for the anaesthetic. A bit tired now but otherwise I'm fine.
Hope everyone else is doing OK. Please excuse the lack of personal posts today.

Hi to yasmina LuAnne, Kim and Randa.
i was away at aviemore at the wekend hopefully to ski. although there was enough snow it was too windy and wild to ski. they shut all the tows and railway but there was still hillwalkers going up in 60 mile and hour blizzards..Mad!!! Still sorting out bits and bobs for the wedding... but also scaning the web for ivf donor egg clinics and sifting through costs and stuff there ...It will be late summer by the time we have finacially recovered from the wedding costs before we can commit to ivf again The wait is difficult but i am sure with the wedding in March and the wedding Party in April the Spring will soon be summer Keeping my emotions in check is hard as my neighbour gave birth 2wks ago to a baby boy. He is a cute little bundle bundle of joy and my heart is aching! Ahh life eh! We will get there come hell or high water!

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday –I had to work late and needed a rest.
Well, we got the news that our egg fertilised and I’m already back from the transfer today! We saw the picture – wow, it’s a top class little embie - and our doctor said that conditions couldn’t be better. We’re so relieved. I had acupuncture again, before and after transfer, but felt a lot more relaxed than last time.
I’m feeling quite OK now but know the next 2 weeks are going to be reeeaaallly tough. I’ve got a whole bunch of meds to take too. Maybe I’ll have to take a bit of a break from the boards – whatever it does to keep me sane.
Thank you so much to everyone for your good wishes and for thinking of me.
Wisconsingal – how far are you on your cycle? You must be near to ER soon. Hope all is going well for you and wishing you all the luck in the world.
Take care all

I GO IN TODAY 1/17 FOR U/S TO SEE HOW BIG THE FOLLIES GOT AND THEN TO START THE GANIRELIX SHOT. THEN I FIND OUT IF ER WILL BE SAT. OR NOT......??? I ALSO GO FOR ANOTHER ACUPUNCTURE THIS AFTERNOON......
CONGRATS ON YOUR EMBIE AND I HOPE THESE NEXT (2) WEEKS ARE RELAXING....LOTS OF PRAYERS TO YOU ALL!
Anna: I hear you on all of the choices for baby gear. We registered for my baby shower which will be next week. I took DH and he helped me pick out all of the big items (pram, car seat, etc.) Then I took my mother and she helped me remember all of the small stuff.
Sonia: I'm so glad to hear that you had a successful ET!! Take care of yourself during this 2 week wait.
Wisconsin Gal: Good luck on your appt. today. Hopefully you will have many decent size follies.
Jen: I think my baby will be between 8 and 9 lbs, if he makes it to 40 weeks. He should be around 6 lbs now. Your wedding sounds lovely! You will have plenty to keep you busy before your next cycle.
Hello to Bev, Yasmina, Kat, Kim, Julia, LuAnne and Randa.
Take care all,

Well ladies, I had THE phone call today!! We have a donor!!
She is my height, my eye colour & weight (or the weight I should be!) and is an altruistic donor rather than an egg sharer. Funny thing - the nurse said 'I have to tell you she is a lesbian incase you have any issues with that' As if we would turn someone down because of that. I think she sounds perfect and now I have told DH all about her too I am calling the clinic in the morning to say yes we would like to go ahead. So I will keep you posted, could be starting meds with my next period or definitely the one after that if not. How exciting!
Hope everyone else is doing OK, Sonia good to see you are now nestling your little one in there so keeping everything crossed for you - when is your exact test date?
Wisconsingal - hope you have a good crop of follies
Hi to everyone else too

Hello Everyone! I've been unable to post for awhile, but I took the time to read up on the posts I've missed. Wow! Where do I start?
Yasmina: I'm glad your tests results are satisfactory & you don't have gestational diabetes. Thank you for letting me know the outcome of your friend's cycle w/Advanced Fertility - Chicago. I'll get into that in a bit. Good luck w/the French.
Sonia & Wisconsin Gal: Best of Luck to both of you. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Kat: Congratulations on the news about the ED. It sounds like she is a wonderful match. Best of Luck!
Bev, Tammy, & Anna: Glad things are going so well & that you are only suffering normal discomforts of pregnancy. Tammy, did you post an U/S pic of your little one somewhere? I want to see him. Of course, from the way it sounds, we'll be able to see a real pic of him soon enough!
Jen: Like everyone else already said, I'm sure the cycle irregularities are related to the IVF. You also asked whether it would affect your DE cycle in May & it will not. After all, even postmenopausal woman are good candidates for a DE cycle, as long as they have a normal uterus & sufficient lining.
Hopeful2BPregnant: I know I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty certain ICSI can overcome pretty much anything. Dr. Silber at The Fertility Center at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis did a couple of programs called The Baby Lab on Discovery Health & he addresses this. He says even men with zero sperm count can father a child with ICSI. Of course, he surgically removes sperm from their testicles on the morning of the retrieval. I'd encourage you to consider a clinic w/a doctor on staff that has expertise in men's fertility issues.
Now, for an update on me: I thought we had decided upon Advanced Fertility on Chicago. I had done a telephone consultation w/Dr. Sherbahn in November & on December 28th, I went in for a hysteroscopy & U/S & check of my day 13 lining. The results were good. They said I did have a fibroid, but it was not "impinging" on my uterus & therefore did not matter. The lining was 8.3 mm, which was fine & Dr. Sherbahn said my uterus was "perfect". However, they declined me for participation in the Shared Risk program because of a history of APA. I was disappointed they had not told me this prior, as they had this information since November 20th. Also during my consult, Dr. Sherbahn had said that although there are certain APA that pose risks to IVF, I tested negative/normal for that particular type of APA. Anyway, they were very apologetic and refunded the money I paid them for the tests since I was only taking the tests in an attempt to qualify for their program, and they realized they should have notified me I was not eligible. I am not too concerned about the matter now, as the ASRM says that APA do not affect the outcome of IVF, and Advanced even has an article on their website that states the same thing. They assured me I had a very good chance of success, but that they just wouldn't put me into their program. We have not ruled them out altogether because they are good. We are also considering Shady Grove in Washington, D.C., and we went there for a consult on Monday of this week. I will consult with Pacific Fertility on Friday. We are real close to deciding something & I'll let you know. My husband and I both agree that although we don't feel as if we have any time to waste, we also don't feel as if we can waste time with the wrong clinic either, so we'll take a little more time to make what we hope is the best decision. Hopefully, I'll be doing a cycle somewhere soon though.
To everyone I misseed, hello. Hopefully, I'll write again soon.
LuAnne

I'm using donor eggs (DE) this time round. Have had a series of failed IUIs/IVF and just got tired of the heartache. Losing my DD at 37 weeks last year just destroyed me emotionally and made me terrified i would never have another child.
My FSH is good, but trying to get pregnant at 41 it is a bit of a gamble. My clinic told me that at age 30 of every 5 eggs a woman produces 4 out of the 5 will be good/viable and 1 will be bad. At 40 this is reversed, and 4 out of 5 eggs produced will not result in a viable pregnancy...............
Anyway, I could keep on trying with my own eggs, and I might get lucky - I know the considered advice is to do 3 IVFs with your own eggs before going to DE, but I just want to increase the odds a bit in my favour for a change. With DE my chances of pregnancy are dependent upon the age of the donor, not the age of the recipient. So the chances of my getting pregnant are the same as a 25 year old (age of the donor), rather than the chances of a 41 year old - my age.
I've started meds and hope to do the DE transfer in mid-March.
Randa - sorry if I missed it, is this your 2nd IVF?
Not all doctors/clinics suggest a break between treatment. You can try month after month after month if you have the energy and bank balance!
Deb P - My FSH was 4.5 two years ago and is now 5.6.
Hope you get a chocolate treat soon.
Joy
My name is Wanda I'm new to this site I am 47 DH is 46. I am doing IVF w/DE I am on day 4 of my Lupron and I pray to the Lord that I will get pregnant when the embryo transfers are done. With my own eggs my chaces were 0-2% so my husband and I decided to do DE. We were looking into adoption but the Domestic adoption for us is closed at the moment so we chose to DE.

Bev and Yasmina: I hope everything is going well with you and your babies. We haven't heard from you in awhile.
