Hi all - happy new year! We were at friends in Yorkshire which was really nice but being away from home unsettled
Charlie and after being up mostof the first night, I was in bed at 10.30 on NYE!!!! So Bella- you did well!

RE: How long they are up for - at first I was up for around an hour each time but that included making sure he was fast asleep before I put him down (which we no longer do!). The it went from anywhere between 1 hour to 20 mins, depending on the last feed. Now he seems o have dropped the last feed, so will go from 8ish through to 3ish feed for 15 or so mins and I'll be back in bed within 20 mins. He'll then sleep through till bout 7. Well, that hows it's been but as soon as I think we have it sussed, it chnages! Unfortunately though all are different so don;t stress if this doesnt resemble your pattern! Sometimes Charlie wakes every 2 hrs in the night and Im up for ages!!!!

PS - did I mention Charlie can roll? I caught himm doing it on the bed a week or so ago! I need eyes in the back of my head!

PPS - sorry about the typing. The computer is under he tv and dp is trying to watch tv so Im doing this without really concentating!

Bella, I know how you feel about it being a chore to breastfeed, then supplement with formula, and still find time to pump to get extra milk. I've been doing that since my first doc apt when the babies lost weight also. Isn't it rewarding though when your baby gains weight? It's almost like that's what us mommy's are "graded on". I jump for joy when they gain weight and feel like I deserve a gold star. hee hee

To answer your question, when the babies were 1 month old I think they'd be awake for about 1.5 hours between feedings. Now at 3 months they are awake different lengths, depending on what time of the day it is. Like in the evening we keep them up for 4 hours....and about 2 hours during the day. 8 feedings total per day at 1 month....and 6 feedings total now at 3 months (mainly because they went from 3 to 1 feedings in the night).

Charlie, yes, I do miss how little they were when they were born! I can barely remember what they felt like so little.

Cla, how exciting that Charlie can roll! What a milestone. I bet that was exciting when he first did it.

Gotta run....

Happy New Year! I wish everyone a very healthy and happy year!

we moved into the new place in Vienna..it is great.so much better then our old place. the dogs have a garden so i don't need to walk them with the baby - i was having nightmares at this thought. and we have really great shops surrounding us :)

Isabella is doing great...we have her feeding down and have also learned the hard way that she must get her sleep in...she is a real handful if she gets overtired. she is gaining weight nicely and is lifting her head at 90degrees...I think she may roll by the end of next week....she is outgrowing her 3 month clothes! she is getting very long so her legs get bunched up in the onesies.

we are getting out everyday and had a big car ride (4 hours) from Munich to Vienna which I did by myself..we had to stop a couple of times but it was no problem. in 2 weeks we drive to Italy - thank goodness dh is coming too. we applied for Isabella's british passport - the consulate just called and they will send it next week :)....the americans are a bit slower in responding..we have to have an interview to get her passport..pretty silly if you ask me.

Happy new year to everyone

Its nice to hear what you have all been getting up to. Tracci am glad to hear Isabelle and the feeding is getting sorted.

The BF thing is such a major! There really is no preperation for how hard and disheartening it can be. We have been pretty lucky and everything seems to be going fine, but can relate from just that first week of hell and Maia losing lots of weight, I still do worry whether she is getting enough, but she is gaining weight she is probably well over 6kgs now (15lbs)and pooing and weeing until the cows come home so I guess all okay.

I kind of have lost track of how often I feed her, it all seems to go pretty much Okay with feeding her between every 2 to 4 hours depending on her day sleeps and what we are doing. She is sleeping a good 10 hours at night too from 9 or 10 pm till around 7 or 8 am since xmas eve, which was a nice present for her mummy!

Am really loving motherhood, but am going a little stir crazy which I didnt think would happen. I dont drive which doesnt help! I feel like I should be talking and playing with her constanty when she is awake, and feel guilty leaving her on the play mat! But I think its because we spend too much time together! The only time I have been away from her is one hour hairdressing appointment in week 6!!

Kristi I envy you! I really am dreading going back to work, even part time. I dont want to put bubba in day care and it makes me upset to even think about it :( as I am the main income earner, its impossible for me not to work though. So am scrabbling about looking for work from home at the mo. Has everyone posted recent pics of their bubbas? Would be lovely to see them! Am going to post a couple recent ones of Maia

Take care all

Hey everyone! Just checking in. Well, my babies are nearly 3 1/2 months old now. I can't believe how that time flew by. Brady has an ear infection. He's been cranky and crying a lot for a week. Dumb me didn't know something was wrong. It was a reminder that if your baby seems just "different", then call the doctor! Tyler is drooling like crazy, so he might be starting to teethe. In the beginning I wondered how long I would BF for, and thought maybe just 3 months, but I'm still doing it and loving it. Now my new goal is 6 months...although maybe I'll keep going after that.

The babies were weighed last week and Brady weighs 10 lbs 7 oz and Tyler weighs 11 lbs 3 ozs.

Charlie & Mel...cute pics you posted. I'll post another recent one too.

Love to all.

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted in ages, but keep reading every couple of days. It's great to hear everyone is going so well.

Kristi - I had planned to b/f until Lucy was around 1 yr, but I guess I planned a lot of things differently before I had her! I have still been doing the b/f plus top up, but unfortunately Lulu takes less from the breast these days, and screams and cries her way through most b/f, only happy when she gets the bottle. She even screamed her way through a bottle of my expressed milk! She really knows how to make me feel bad about my milk!

Anyway, am still persisting, but afraid that my b/f dream is all but over.

She is a dream sleeper now - but I know that could change any time too. It's hard to believe she is already nearly 7 weeks (I know, she is a lot younger than all of your little ones...she didn't even make November!).

Hope everyone else is good. The weather is getting super hot here, so I'm always worried about little Lulu being overheated. Can't wait for summer to be over (I never thought I would say that!).

I love all the pics - I will try and put some more up of Lucy too.

All the best.
Bella.

Hi all!

Just a quick post.. Charlie in bed and I want to put my feet up before we go to bed ourselves!!!!! Great to see everyone doing so well.
Charlie is now 13lb 11 - I cant believe how much he's grown!! We're still b/f (me anyway!) but with a bottle before he goes to bed and in the night. I was finding expressing quite diffiult so the bottles are formula, but #charlie doesnt seem to mind which! He switches between both with no hesitation which is great. ~unfortunaely I go back to work in MArch. I will then probably drop the feeds to first and last thing b/f - rest bottle. Want to keep these boobs for as long as possible.
Here's a novelty - went to docs yesterday and got the pill. Am 34 and have never taken it before!! Just thought Id better for the time being. But its weird! I felt so stupid asking the doc what I was mean to do, when to take it etc!!!!
Anyway - will try and post some new pics soon.

Take care all!

Hi everyone
Sorry just a qiuck post from me also have to get tea on the go. Jacob rolled from his belly to his back for the first time with out any help at all a few days ago and we haven't been able to stop him since
He had rolled from his belly to his back about four times when he was 3months old and hadn't done it since just in the last week also Jacob is managing to sit all by himself as long he doesn't move to much its funny it's like watching him in slow motion as he slowly topples sideways which he thinks is hilarious mind you he thinks hes funny when he sneezes to. It's funny how they show such personality at an early age lets just hope he keeps this happy, smile and laugh with anybody trait. Poor Jacob hasn't been smiling to much today though his two bottom teeth are about to pop they are so red inflamed. It seems a viscious circle I give him teether rings which is meant to help soothe his gums but then because they are so sore and hes savagely biting it he's then crying because he's hurt them more so what to do.

Anyone know when it's age appropriate to start them in a walker I've been told to not let him use one to early but wasn't told when approx so any Ideas would be great

Sorry better go tea won't cook itself all though i keep wishing.

Would be great to hear what all the babies have been learning everyone should be hearing some big chuckles by now.
Hope your all well.

Take Care Jomaexxx

Hi Ladies -

Here's a new topic for us... How's it going with losing the baby weight? I have about 20 pounds to lose. 10 from the pregnancy and 10 from 2 years of stressful infertility treatments. It is frustrating to not fit into any clothes right now. I have 3 pairs of non-maternity pants that I can wear, and other than that I'm still in my prego pants. Most tops are tight and ill-fitting too. :(

So, just wondering how you are all coping with that as well. I am starting on a fitness regimen this week (just had the treadmill delivered yesterday) so I'm hoping for the best. With it being winter here, it is impossible to get outside with Hendricks.

Ok, back to baby talk. H has his first cold. Poor little guy has a very stuffy nose and a terrible hacking cough. Went to the dr. yesterday and was told to just let it run its course. This is what I figured he would say, but just wanted to make sure that it wasn't anything more serious. He's starting to laugh a lot, deep down belly laughs. And he is figuring out that his hands can do more than just be stuffed in his mouth. I've updated photobucket with a couple of pics.

Gee, Julie, did you have to bring up diet & exercise???? hee hee. I lost 42pounds in the first 3 weeks and since then have 8 pounds left that are staying with me. Not too bad. But I am a size bigger and none of my clothes fit me at all. So I'm thinking (key word is "thinking") about doing something about it soon.

Bella, one of my babies seems to prefer the bottle over breast lately too. I started walking around with him attached to my breast and then he feeds fine! Strange, but it works.

My boys are starting to teethe..they are drooling and sucking their hands constantly. Oh, and they just started watching TV! So I put on the cartoon channels and watched Sponge Bob Squarepants & Dora the Explorer for the first time in my life. The boys just stare at it.

Cla, that's so funny about being on the pill. What a weird thing after the years of TTC, huh?

Glad to hear everyone is enjoying mommy-hood!!
