Meg!

I missed your post! I know exactly what you mean about your friend. I was doing quite fine on the weekend until on Saturday night dh came in and announced that he had been speaking with his friend who had just failed IVF for the fifth time. Just hearing that threw me into a tail spin and I got into a hell bad mood. Not sure why, just hate hearing about failures because it scares the daylights out of me.

Love all the comments Sassy. For some reason I don't get too much hassle about having babies, maybe I just look infertile.

Fee--You must look infertile? That cracked me up! Man. By the way, welcome back--I missed you

Sassy--Great come backs. Thank you for posting them. I'm hoping for an opportunity to use them, but probably won't be able to remember them when the moment is right. I'm like that with jokes, too. I think I have it all straight in my head and then when the I actually try to say the darned thing out loud, it makes no sense and everyone just stares at me blankly.

AJ--(Hope it's okay to abbreaviate, I'm feeling lazy today!) I haven't heard anything about botox affecting fertility and God knows I've read just about everything on the subject. I've actually tried to relax a little myself on the "what's allowed" stuff. I know I'm not in the middle of a cycle right now, but I actually had several alcoholic beverages the other night and I allow myself the occassional diet coke as well. People get pregnant all the flipping time, so I find it hard to imagine that my one diet coke a day is what is holding us back. Of course, once I start getting closer to FET, I'm sure my cavalier attitude will switch real fast and it will be back to just water for me. I'm a big talker, but that's about it!

Well, I'm off to enjoy my day. I actually don't have to work today and it's beautiful here. We got about 4 inches of snow yesterday, but today it's really sunny. So everything is clean and white and beautiful. I'm going to take the dog out and play in the snow for awhile and then just laze away the afternoon. (Although I do have a dentist's appointment first, grrrr I hate going to the dentist!!!!!!)

Bye, everyone!!!!!!!

Fee: heeheehee... i also thought the "i look infertile" was really funny... maybe it is more a matter of age... are you younger? Also, i am surrounded by people from my church, most of whom have at least a few kids... so i stand out. I am sorry that you have been feeling so crappy. has dh been takin' it like a man? Hope you are feeling a bit better

Meg: fab on havin' the day off (i'm in dh office today helping w/a presentation). the snow sounds beautiful, hoping it is not too cold... I also enjoy my diet coke (got dependent on it during residency), and i am down to 4-5 per wk. will probably try to get down to 2-3 around transfer... but like you said... people get preg on much worse... i.e., crack, heroin, meth, oxy, etc!

mandy; those d@mn expectations! I know, everytime AF late (or even when she wasn't late!) for the last several years, i get my hope up. That would have been real cool, too. how is dh taking all the vitamins, etc. If he is like my dh, he humors me :D .

Ladies - this is the funniest thread - It is making me laugh no end! Love those comebacks Sassy - hilarious!

I'm imagining my response if we are asked what we are doing for the long w/e in March - "Oh we've already got plans - I'll be having my eggs harvested, DH has an appointment at the wank tank, and then results of 8 weeks hard work will be poked back in by moustached middle aged man wearing rubber gloves!

Hee hee - you gotta laugh!

Angie--Wank tank? Too Funny! I'll be sure to share that one with DH, I'm sure he'll appreaciate it. This thread is quickly going from a place to complain a little to a place that just makes me giggle. You all are toooooooo funny!

I'm lovin this thread myself. I feel like I don't have to be on my best behaviour...

Sass - I'm 35 so no spring chicken, but I apparently look young. Tried to buy glue at Walmart last year and was told "no you have to be 16 and over to buy glue." I could have kissed the checkout lady. I'm getting a bit sensitive about my age actually. We had a morning tea at work yesterday and the office idiot went around asking everyone how old they were. I told him where to go and accompanied it with an appropriate hand gesture. Not very ladylike I know.

AJ (like Meg I'm also lazy). BOTOX, I find it a fascinating subject! My secretary and I are always talking about wanting to try it. It's not that widely used where I come from so it is a bit of an "exotic procedure" I agree you feel better if you look better. My DH is also despairing of me and my vanity...

Meg, Missed you too matey! I'm with you on the diet coke...although I've managed to kick my caffiene addiction just recently. In my last cycle I drank coffee and had cocktails (it was around Xmas holidays time). No one told me not to! I'm trying to be a bit more careful now but it's pretty hard, REALLY wanted a coffee this morning...by the way has AF arrived??? I just go on BCP so that I don't have to wait forever (which is how it is with me.)

Angie, your post cracked me up! I don't think that too many people realise the true horror of IVF. I took one of my clinic brochures home to DH recently and pointed out pictures of all of the people who have been poking around my nether regions lately. It's quite an impressive line up. And to think I used to be shy about getting a bikini wax....

Well I'm in a much better mood today, maybe a tad bi-polar. My poor husband is getting quite frightened of my mood swings. Whenever he sees me happy now he starts singing that song "...what goes up, must come down...."

ahhh ladies... i concur w/ what appears to be the consensus... you guys are killin' me! heeheehee! How did this thread become so funny? I am hoping that means we are just feeling safe to be ourselves.

oh, Fee: you seem to have the same problem i do... i look much younger than my age (although it has been years since i have been mistaken for a 15 yr old!). When working in the hospital, i regularly had middle-aged men ask for a different MD as they refused to believe that i was old enough to have finished my training (i could usually talk them into it after i chatted w/them for a bit... acting all professional and all :D). I taught residents for a while, and they always got a big kick out of it. and, btw, i like the "sass" you showed by the gesture... true, not very ladylike, but all that goes out the window when a man has the cohones to ask a woman her age!!!

Angie: you forgot the fact that the moustached man (or 3 men in my clinic's case) are sitting perched between your legs staring up your crotch which is well-lit with hot lights. ooooo, ooooo, I am sure we can come up with some other good descriptions of what you will be doing on that long wkend! This could be really fun... i will now be thinking about this all night.

Meg: i am with you... love reading responses that others come up with, but never manage to remember anything good when the situation presents itself. maybe i will memorize one for each question so it is on the tip of my tongue next time.... i would love to see the look on some peoples faces if i responded like that instead of going "umm, umm, we are trying" or something equally as pitiful.

loving the laughs... does wonders for the stress level!

Great, Fee, now I can't get that song out of my head. "What goes up...." Classic.

Hey Sassy

Sounds like we have the same problem in the workplace with our youthful looks. I've often seen clients take one look at me and then ask questions like "how long have you been practising??"

Gosh your comment to Angie about the hot lights etc made the whole IVF process sound quite theatrical. I'm thinking that its about time that someone should take the IVF experence to the wider community and that's why I'm thinking that I should write a stage production "IVF!" The Musical. I'm thinking a chorus line of RE's waving their dildo cams in the air and doing high kicks? I think it's got potential... :D

I know I'm not an 'official' member of this thread, but just had to say that Sassy, your comeback lines were the funniest and best thing I've seen in a long time. For all the thoughtless and uninformed comments I've received over the years (unfortunately, even from friends and family members who don't think or just are plain clueless), I wish I had some of the comebacks when I needed them. You guys are awesome!

Fee: no heeheehee will do here, your last post requires a full on belly laugh (would that be hohoho?). that is SO funny! Isn't there a "Menopause: the Musical" or something like that? So why not "IVF: the Musical". I LOVE the RE's dancing around w/dildocam idea. Add that to a full on soccer stadium-like lighting for a transfer w/RE and embryologist singing while the table revolves w/the woman in stirrups. oh what fun we could have w/this one!

Sassy! We are on the same page. A revolving stage is a must! Either that or the bed could have wheels and be rotated by the army of singing specialists on hand.

I definately want the line "we have to stop your ovaries from exploding" written in to a song somewhere...(that's what my doctor said to me after my first scan...)

Oh the drama.

Suzhan welcome and chime in whenever you want, the more the merrier I say!
