My initial thought was the RE, but upon reflection, I don't think P Diddy can pull of the "moustached Dr" look that Angie is going for. So, I don't know. Maybe the narrator who just floats down into each scene and sings, ahem, raps a little? Casting director I'm obviously not.

I was telling my Dh about his "musical" we've been planning here and started laughing so hard I was crying. He just looked at me like I was even more insane than usual. Think that's the last time I'm going to mention anything from here to him--he just doesn't get it.

don't worry Meg - my DH is the same. When I told him about the dildo cam he was quite horrified and said that the thought of Dr D and the dildo cam really quite disturbed him.

ok, i think the "ice, ice baby" is fantastic! Oh, a must add for sure.

Meg: my dh also had a vacuous look on his face when i was describing this to him yest afternoon. I, like you, could hardly explain it b/c i was laughing so hard... and he just looked at me kind of funny... clearly didn't find the significant humor in it that i did! I guess that just means the theatres will be filled w/women!

Sassy--How long has your location read "at the end of my significantly frayed rope"? I just notice it---too freaking funny, girl!

I suppose as the saying goes, it's either laugh or cry and you guys are definitely making me laugh. So thank you so much. I honestly don't know what I'd do without all of you!!

sorry, ladies, no flashes of inspiration right now... i think i was much funnier when i was p@ssed off! But, Meg, i wanted to address your note re: my location on avatar... I changed it 4-5 days ago... thought "Las Vegas" sounded boring, and not very representative of "where" i am right now. heeheehee. Glad you liked it... i was wondering if anyone noticed

. it was difficult to decide between that and IF H@ll (but i wasn't sure if H@ll would be censored...).

Hi Ladies

I too am running low on inspiration today, I seem to do my best work when demented and am surprisingly rational today.

I have a quick question for you about...ahem... stirrup protocol.

When I went for my first few scans in November I always kept my shoes on, and this provoked no comment from the nurse...

At ET time I did my usual and climbed into the stirrups with my fave blue stillettos on. The nurse gave me a wierd look and said "Oh, you've kept your shoes on...."

I then offered to take them off but she said no "I suppose it will be OK." Then the embryologist (quite hot) came in and gave me a wierd look.

I suppose it looked a bit strange to by lying there half naked with your pointy shoes on (a bit like a hooker really).

So what's the go? Shoes on or off. I need to know for next time so any views would be much appreciated.

Fiona---I vote for shoes on just because it's so damned cool! I didn't get the choice--They always make me put on this ugly, sterile slipper things. Yucky. So, I say stick with the shoes. If they make you feel good, they can only help!

OK am I in some third world clinic here? Sterile slippers???? Why haven't I been given sterile slippers????

Well if they're not going to provide me with the basics i.e STERILE SLIPPERS, I will have to choose some more cool shoes to wear. Or buy my own sterile slippers....

oh my god - I don't get stirrups. My ET chair is more like a dentists chair which tilts back. I think I want stirrups -they must get a better angle with stirrups.

I had the same dilemma regarding socks back in winter, when I was wearing boots, on or off? Seemed natural to take them off - you just don't keep your socks on do you when there's any activity going on there . But then there was the hairy leg problem - we all let ourselves go over winter, don't we...? don't we? Or should I be planning my leg wax appointments round visits to Dr D.

I totally wouldn't be complaining about a lack of stirrups. As far as I'm concerned, if I never see a table with stirrups on it again, it will be too soon. Although, I am intrigued about the angle aspect. Do they just lay down on the floor, and look up, or what?

As far as the sterile slippers go, I actually have the transfer/retrieval done at the hospital--on the maternity floor mind you. So, that's really pleasant. The day I went in for my retrieval, I checked in at the same time as a woman going into labor was checking in. Great. Needed to see that. Thanks a lot. So, anyway, I have to wear the whole sterile gown, slipper outfit thingy. It's a complete package. On the plus, my husband had to put on scrubs and sterile slippers and a little hat and mask, too, so that was pretty cute!

Do you guys have the process done at a hospital or in a clinic? Just wondering.

Oh, and I say screw the leg waxing thing. We're 1) already going through way too much pain and 2)spending way too much money and 3) they say you should just relax and be your normal self to help lower the stress level. Trust me, my normal self is to have a little bit of the man-hairy legs in winter. Plus, I get cold without a little insulation

No - just a bit of fumble and poke with the tube thingy and the hope that my embie hits the target and goes in the right direction - that's what it seems like anyway.

Next ET I am going to suggest Dr D gets down lower as I want it guided in more accurately - although he is quite a rotund man so perhaps he might not be able to get up again. I don't want him slipping a disc on me.

My ET attire consists of this green canvas sheet thing, with a slit in it plus a surgical gown, usually floral patterned.

OOOOOOOH. I'm jealous of the floral pattern. Mine was just plain surgical green. Must ask for the upgrade next time

For me, one of the most awkward moments of the entire process (besides having a room full of people staring at my voo-doo) was when the orderly wheeled me out of the room and down out to the car. He was like a young surfer dude (weird, since I live in very land-locked Nebraska) and he kept trying to make stilted conversation like, "So, trying to have a baby, huh?" I kept thinking I was tripping on the Valium, but seriously Valium is not that strong. It was pretty funny looking back on it!

ooooo, i am ready to chime in on the "to shoe or not to shoe" discussion. I always take my shoes off and leave socks on for us (that way i don't have to keep my toenails painted

.) As for ET and ER, we also have OR foot coverings, so not much of a choice there (but they still cover up chipped nail polish!). Now, having said that if i were cool enough to have blue stilletos, think i would wear them! if nothing else just for the stylish factor

All the procedures are done in an OR within my fertility clinic, not in a hospital. The table is a funky mix bwtn an OR table, a dentist's chair, and stirrups. You lie almost flat, but there are leg supports so you don't have to hold your legs up in the stirrups. I have NO interest in waxing my legs during the winter.. try to keep my leg hair from resembling sasquatch, but i agree... we go through enough pain as it is, and i refuse to wax, purely on principle (i have to rebel somehow

)

well, i'm still not funny. hmmmm... maybe i need to get p@ssed off about something so i can be funny again... don't worry, there is already a family crisis brewing that may be worthy of a full vent in the next couple days...

Now Ang, I have to say the dentists chair sounds a bit odd. I have this mental picutre of your Dr crawling around on his knees...but I suppose what your clinic lacks in chairage, it makes up for in clothing. I can't believe that you get a surgical gown (floral no less) and a canvas thing with a slit in it...I get NOTHING. (except a sheet to cover my "voodoo" as Meg puts it). Does your Dr do the ET on his own???? At my last one I had the dr and the embryolgoist huddled around my "voodoo" and a nurse doing the scan thing to watch everthing going in...

Ladies I see we've picked up on the other etiquette - to wax or not to wax. I didn't bother last time but given that I have a pretty glamourous team working on me I feel a strange pressure to tart myself up. I have a long standing appointment at the beautician next week to give me the works just in time for my first scan. I think I would be more comfortable with Ange's Fat DR D.

Meg, I'm with you on the orderly thing. For my EC I was transported by some rapper dude. We didn't manage to say anything to each other as clearly neither of us could think of anything to talk about....were you transported to your car after ET? If so that is damned good service!

Sass and Ang I think the sock situation is a good mid point. Next time I think shoes and socks for me, we'll see if that sits better with the nurse. If not they can damn well give me some STERILE SLIPPERS. Geez Sass, family strife brewing??? Good luck with that, hope it's not too Jerry Springer.
