Sam --- thanks for all the info on the test! I don't remember, did you go for amnio as well?

Wannababy --- if you are not going to see your baby for sometime, you will be much more surprise once you see it. They grow so fast!

Suzhan --- I still have the nausea. I cannot wait until it goes away and I can finally enjoy my meals. How did your first OB visit go?

I had the nuchal translucency done yesterday, they were measuring the liquid behind the neck and one baby was 1.8 and the other 1.7, the doctor said anything under 2 is good, so I hope they are OK. They also did a blood test and based upon combined results we can decide whether we want to undergo the amnio. We should get the results in 10 days. They told me that because it is twins, my risk will be greater than with a single pregnancy, even though I am 32. They said it will be more like when I am 36. But it will probably will be still less then 1 %. The risk of MC after amnio with twins is 1:300. So we will have to decide soon. They would have to poke me twice, ouch! But one good thing is that they can already tell the genders from the amniotic fluids. The amnio is done between the week 15 - 20.

I am glad you are all doing well. I also exchanged some pictures with Mia via email. She and her husband are such a cute couple!

Hi Lola,

Good luck with the NT test results. Sounds like its all looking good so fingers crossed each baby will get a nice low rating. I had mine done at the hospital and at a private doctor and both results put us in a low risk category and further tests were not recommended. It was explained to us that each twin could have different risk ratings but individually, not greater than a single baby. I am baffled why they adjusted your age up just because its twins???

Suzhan, good luck with the NT scan. When are you having it done?

Rittie

Lola,

I did not have the amnio, no need really. The prescreening was enough according to my doctors. BTW-I did not understand your post. Do you know the sex already or you could find out if you go for the amnio....

Sam and Rittie --- thanks a lot for your input. Sam, they can tell the gender from the amniotic fluid, if I go for the amnio. Rittie, I thought the same thing, why should my risk be higher just because it is twins? Each baby is a single baby and the risk should be the same. Well, we will see, I hope I won't have to do the amnio and the rates will be low.

How are you both feeling? I hope all is well. Lola

Atlast my AF arrived on 14th Jan. This time I had decent flow. I'll be starting my pills on 18th Jan. They had to change my cycle a bit because they are already booked. I'll be taking Pills for few more days as compared to last time. I guess it will be fine. So we decided to do it in this cycle. I didn't want to wait for another cycle. The waiting period is very difficult to pass

I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

Good Luck to all of you.

Champa - great to hear from you and woo hoo on starting again! Image Are you on a full cycle of bcp's before starting onto the lupron? I'm just thrilled and am hopeful that 2007 brings lots more bfp's to our August ladies.

Emily - how goes the lupron?

Mia - FET is coming up soon - I'm so excited for you!

Glad to hear the NT scan went well Lola. I bet the 10 days waiting for the final result is stressful (it will be for me, anyway, I'm such a worrier.) I have my NT scan (and I guess bloodwork) next Friday the 26th. I also hope your nausea starts to subside pretty soon - I think by week 14 it's really supposed to get much better if not before!

Rittie/Sam - thanks also for the info on the NT - it's helpful. Strange question, but is the ultrasound an external or internal one? Does it take a long time? My ultrasounds thus far seem to be super quick and I have no idea what to expect - just curious I guess.

This was a busy week for us. I had my first OB appt on Monday and it was awesome. I love my OB and he even did an ultrasound (my first abdominal one) and I got to see my little one waving and squirming around. Unfortunately, they also took 7 vials - yes 7 - of blood! I have no idea what all they test for, but I thought I would faint. I also had my final RE appointment this morning and (can you believe) had another ultrasound - this time the little one wasn't quite as active, but we could still make out all the 'parts', which was reassuring. I'm officially off the PIO and progesterone suppositories, which will be nice - - only two med's left, the prenatals and baby aspirin. So, other than the NT scan, I'm on my own for a whole month, feels a bit wierd.

Hope everyone else is well!

I am so glad to hear that everyone is doing well. I also am praying that 2007 is going to be the year for the rest of us!

My Lupron is going fine. I really don't notice a difference. I was just afraid that I would walk out the door and forget to take my shot or oversleep on the weekend! But that hasn't happened. I think my brain is in tuned for what is going on and it comes naturally now! I am excited for my first dr appt tomorrow. I'll let fill ya all in!

Have a great day!

Hi Suzhan,

The NT scan is external like the other scans. The only diffeence is they take measurement of the section of fluid at the back of the baby's neck. The thickness of this should give an indication of normality. They measured Twin 2 for me pretty quickly, but Twin 1 was very low down and it took them a while to get the angle right to get the measurements. It'd probably take a little longer than a usual scan if baby's co-operative.

My achy legs while sleeping is not getting better. For some strange reason, it used to be comfortable for me to sleep with a pillow between my legs but now its changed to being uncomfortable and starts my numbness/ache. I tried sleeping upright on a pile of 6 pillows the last couple of nights and as soon as I sit up, the acheand numbness goes. Although a bit awkward I'm beginning to get used to this position and slept for 2 solid hours in the upright position last night. Hmmmm, strange eh?

Lots of love
Rittie

Hello all,

Everyone of my U/S that were at my "regular" doctor were external. I also think I only had two....The prescreening (where the measure the neck fluid) and then the 5 month. Everything else is a heart beat check. I am sure it is different if you are having twins but that is what my experience has been with a singleton. That is why I say we are spoiled with our clinics.

Suzhan- I bet you will be feeling worlds better now that you stopped your PIO's. I know I did. One of the side effects of those is tiredness and nasaua. So a double whammy with pregnancy.

Golfwife- I also had no side effects to lupron. Enjoy that!! Good luck on the rest, you are almost there

Champa and Emily --- this is great, you are both starting together. We will be here to cheer you up! I hope everything goes well, you will be in my prayers! So far, everything looks great for both of you!

Sam - I had my first appointment with my OB, and he is great. He will be doing US each time I go in. He even told me to bring an empty VHS next time so I he could record my babies moving and kicking. I also got a big tote bag full of goodies, samples and magazines. The nurses are great too. I was amazed. He said I will be seen 2x a week towards the end of the pregnancy, since it is twins. The US was external this time.

Rittie - when I had my NT scan, one of my babies did not want to cooperate and we had to wait forever before he(she) turned the right way. It was funny though. I am just amazed how they can see the spot and measure it. I can barely see the baby. I am sorry about your achy legs. I guess it must be harder and harder to find a comfortable sleeping position towards the end. Wow!

Suzhan --- the nausea is still the same, I hope it won't last the whole pregnancy. My babies are over 3 inches long already! The NT scan is really easy, you will see. Just like a normal scan, just little longer maybe.
Isn't it cute to see your baby moving? It was such a lovely experience.

I have to do another update next time, I have not done one for a while.
Have a nice weekend girls! Lola

Hey everybody!

Champa and golfswfe--Good luck! We are all looking forward to some more success stories!

Lola- How much are you showing now? It's cool that your Dr will record your babies actions. What an awesome keepsake....Was your NT transvaginal? I dont know what to expect on Wednesday.

Suzhan-congrats on being taken off your PIO. My behind is still slighly sore. I undestand feeling weird when you are on your own. It's weird but I often wonder if I am still or really pregnant when I don't have that constant monitoring like at our facility.

Sam-How are you doing? What's new with you and your daughter? When did you get that dark line on your tummy?

Hopeful--Thinking about you. What's up?

I'm doing pretty well. The word is out with our family and friends and I told my boss (in confidence--not quite ready for the responses from coworkers yet). The 1st trimester is almost over. I don't know what to follow as some books say it is over at week 12, 13 or 14. Either way, it seems so surreal still. I have the down syndrome test this Wednesday and I am very excited about seeing my baby via ultrasound especially since my Ob/gyn didnt do one at my first visit. I'm sorry I havent been checking in, but as I mentioned b4, computer is acting up!

Take care ladies.....
