Good news, we got accepted to the shared risk program!! :D Although I'm not super excited about the high price tag it is a relief that after we pay we will have SIX chances to get pregnant. I'm hoping and praying that we end up over paying and getting pregnant on try #1 but it's nice to have the financial side taken care of if we have to forge ahead and try multiple times. Yay!!

Anna
Sounds like we will hopefully be on the same schedule!! I've never been so excited for AF in my life! Thanks for the tip on acu. I need to call my clinic soon and ask about pricing, etc. I thought at one point they said it was included in my package price but I may have been dreaming that. I'm sure like you said it will just be one more thing to add to our big IVF bill.

Take care all and have a great weekend!

Steph, congrats on the Shared risk program!!. Yes, the one I am in is the same one as yours, I believe it is a national program that is offered through several IVF clinics across the country. It is a great relief to have it, believe me........

Hi Charity

Post by Dexter »

My name is Dex and I will also be a FEb cycle IVF. I commenced my first IVF treatment Jan 13th this year and am currently on the SYNAREL nasal sprays. Next blood test is Jan 24th with estimated EPU Feb 5 and transfer around the 7th providing all goes well. I would love to stay in touch. I am also 35 and have been trying naturally and unsuccessfully for the best part of 3 years!!

I live in Sydney, Australia and work as an entertainer. I have read and heard so many stories about the IVF expereince that I just can't keep up any more and am leaving it up to the gods!! Who knows what wil happen ey.

Are you on the nasal sprays too? I never got my P while taking it but was assured by the nurses that it didn't really matter...?? Quite contrary to what I have read on other posts though.

Well, good luck with everything and hopefully we can stay in touch.
Regards,
Dex :D

hi all, just butting in again,

Wisconsingal, good luck on sunday, fingers crossed, i feel you'll get a good result this time.

nerms, I used the Nefarelin? spray on my fresh cycle, i started on day 21 and started on 3 a day increased to 4 a day, then reduced to 3 a day and stopped completely on the day of my trigger shot. I then used 225mg of gonal F daily for stimms. I got 20 mature eggs (and i'm old!)

Vicky glad everything is going to plan, your embies will be back before you know it.

Good luck to everyone

Steph - Congrats, I'm so glad for you--6xs thats wonderful. Hopefully, the first time is the charm.

Mominwaiting and Dexter - welcome aboard.

Wisconsignal - good luck Sunday on your ER. I'm praying for lots of ferts. I believe we experience some psychic connections at times so go with the feeling it's probably right on.

Anna - I would transfer as many as you and DH feel comfortable with. Give yourself the best chance possible (we all know IVF is not cheap). I'm having as many as possible transferred but I'm over 40 too and my chances are smaller than your at your age. Bottom line.... be comfortable with your decision, it will be the right one!

Pep23- My drs instructions were to start the BCP on day 2 of red bleeding  I know what you mean about people. I guess it is in our nature to take everything for granted (like accidental pregs). I have encountered a few of those lately. I guess my lesson from God is to NEVER take anything for granted. I guess that IVF has changed me and I try to make others realize what they have too. I do what you do and say things like "well, we will see". Some people do not have a need to know!

I start my BCPs tonight. Geeze, I thought it would never get here. The drs office called yesterday and want to do DH surgerical sperm retrieval on Wednesday and cryofreeze it. I thought that cryo deminished the viability some. I've been so upset because I thought we would do a retrieval for both of us on the same day. :( It's not like they didn't know I would be doing the same thing again. I feel like no matter what I do someone is throwing a stresser in there. I know it is ultimately up to us to make the decision but I can't help but think that my clinic could inform me a little better. Sorry I'm just venting a little. I'm supposed to be happy about this and all I can do is cry (where DH doesn't see me).

Everyone have a blessed weekend.

Hello everyone! It's a lovely snowy Saturday here in Ohio.

Wisconsingal, good luck on your ER tomorrow. I hope they get lots of good quality eggs!!!

Vicky and Steph, I wish I was in the shared risk program too. I asked my RE about it and he advised against it. He seems pretty comfortable that I would get pregnant the first time. I have been thinking hard about it and trying to see that maybe I could delay IVF for a few months and save up for the shared risk. But dh wants to get going with this right away so I'm really torn. Plus, if I wait any longer, my tube may close up and I would have to go through surgery before the IVF. (Last HSG on 1/07 showed my remaining tube is open but dilated in the end) Maybe I should just really trust my RE....decisions, decisions!

Julia, I'm with you about going through all this to have a baby definitely changed me too. You just cannot take things for granted anymore. I'm the first one around my circle of friends, co-workers and family to go through IVF and I make them realize how lucky people are to have babies by just doing it the old fashioned way.

Welcome to the Feb. thread mominwaiting and Dexter!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hope that you are all having a nice weekend. V short post as dh's birthday tomorrow and we have friends around this evening & need to tidy up and get myself sorted too!!!

Just wanted to say:

Wisconsingal - Just wanted to drop in and wish you all the luck in the world for your ER tomorrow. Let us know how you do. Hope that they get lots of good quality eggies for you

Mominwaiting - pretty dam sure that you were on Dec-Jan thread. Hello again.

Dex - welcome - look forward to getting to know you. Let's hope that you get the 1st time charm

Julia - good luck with starting on the bcp. We all feel emotional about the journey. At least you know that you are getting on your way. The right decisions will come to you - go with your instinct

Steph - congarts on getting into the shared risk programme - certainly takes some of the pressure off

Anna - I paid £65 for 1st acu and then £45. That is about $120 and $90 so quite similar even though we are in different continents! I find it well worth the investment even if it just calms me down and does nothing medically

Jen1d - How are you bearing up hun?

Hugs to everyone else. Must run. Sorry. Will have to post more in the week as dh will not appreciate it if I am on here tomorrow when it is his b/day!!!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies.
Love

Hi Girls...hope your'e all enjoying your weekend!

Good luck Wisconsingal with ER today...hope it all goes really well for you!

Steph and Anna...how exciting waiting for AF on the same day! Can't wait now! Oh and congrats too on being accepted for the shared risk prog...that's great news!! Must be a relief.

Vicky thanks for the AF dance...let's hope it works!!

Welcome to Dex and Mominwaiting...hope we all get BFP's together this month!!! :D

Julia I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma...it's a difficult path that we're already all on and i know when they deliver another bit of news that isn't quite what you expected it does feel like someone is trying to throw a spanner in the works! But i think have faith and be an optimist..i agree with dex there is only so much worrying you can do-sometimes you just have to trust the lords! Don't be upset...sending you lots of PMA....hope it reaches you :D Hang in there.

Thanks Carolyn, Vicky and J to answerring my questions...all this stuff can get so confusing sometimes it's hard to get your head around it...ok i have another question  Does anyone have any experiences of short protocol vs long protocol? Is one better than the other, when i asked at my consultation she just brushed over it and said there was no differrence but long was what they were accustomed to using. it's just that the long one is 9-10weeks long at my clinic and the short i hear is about 4wks, being my first attempt i want to do things properly and not take short cuts, but equally if i have the short protocol then i can make use of all the annual leave i have owing to me before april and besides the quicker the better right! :D

Hi Nerms

Really quickie as having a non-IVF day for dh's b/day. I have done both short and long. They put me on long first as never sure how you'll respond. My clini usually starts everyone on long protocol. I produced almost the same number of follies under both. They could not reach one side of me on second attempt but that had nothing to do with being on the short protocol. We had very similar fert rates and quality of eggs. For me it really made very little difference but can vary from person to person.

Long for me lasted from late March until May 10th so about 7 weeks. Around 40 jabs - I injected the down regging burselin but some people sniff instead. Short lasted 4 weeks in total, 20 jabs. I did find short easier but was not sure whether that was also as I had a better idea of what to expect, was on sabbatical so less stressed at work as well as doing acu which I am sure helped me with side effects. Got quite headachy on long but that was also as I was trying to come off huge amounts of coffee.

For the first time I guess that I would go with what your clinic recommend. For me short versus long made very little difference - and no difference in end result which is all we really care about.

Hope that helps.

Hope that everyone else is having a good Sunday. Back to dh and his hangover from his party last night! At least being off the booze means that we don't have to deal with that part of things!!

Lots of Love

WIGAL...I am here...Not often, so apologies for not wishing you luck sooner. You take care my dear, and I know what you & dh will be going through the next 24 hours (or so) until you get that call. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Chickie!! You hang in there, and know that you have done everything in your power to make this work, so no regrets...Right? Right! :) Look ahead...Not back...I can hear those eggies activating as we speak... I miss you all too...Thank you for your well wishes, and know that I'm not crushed, but just needing to take a break...But you all know as well as I, you can't completely take a break...Take care all, and I'll be in touch soon...
