I'm an Aussie too! Just started first IVF cycle Jan 13th

Hi everyone,
So glad to have found this site! It's also great to hear from some fellow Aussies too. I have just commenced my first IVF cycle and must admit I am a little anxious about the injections and the EC...that's if we are even lucky enough to get that far. I have been on the SYNAREL nasal spray for the past week. No side effects to report except sore BBs. Next blood test is Jan 24th to see if I'm down regulated enough, but at this stage P hasn't arrived and I am 2 days late. Does anyone know if this is normal and if we will still be able to proceed with the GONAL injections if it doesn't appear? I am seriously hoping it is not going to prolong things further... Also, what are everyone's thoughts on the odd glass of wine while on treatment? I have given up caffeine, taken up acupuncture but am finding it hard not to have the odd glass of wine once a week! Am I being obssessive or just naive???
My FSH levels came back at 10.4 so my specialist has put me on 225u of GONAL, so we'll see where that gets us. I'm not optimistic. Luck is not something I am accustomed to :-/

Hi Dexter,
I was also really glad I found this site! We have just commenced our second IVF cycle for our 2 child (or 2&3 child) we have a DS from our 1st go with IVF he is nearly 2. I was also very anxious about the whole IVF process on our first go and I must say i am again with this go. We have no frozen eggs to transfer so that is why I am doing the whole process again. I start my Synarel nasal spray on the 9th Feb then do the scan and I am on Puregon injections.
Regarding the wine well everyone to tell you different things, I personally dont drink at all (but maybe I should) so this could be something to ask your doctor??
So where in Australia are you? I am in Melbourne.
Any questions feel free to ask I will help as much as I can....

Thx so much for your response. So wonderful to hear that you have already had some success and are about to start your 2nd attempt! You have age on your side! I wish I had commenced treatment a few years ago. I have just turned 35 and think my eggs are drying up! Not for a lack of trying naturally though since 31

I live in Sydney and moved here from Adelaide about 6 years ago. I am feeling OK about the treatment and trying to adopt the attitude that this kind of technology really is something to marvel at. Hey we can't all have everything. I have a wonderful family and a wonderful husband, it seems that this has been sent to test us. Maybe that's just a crazy romantic notion on my behalf! Who knows!! I'm sure I'll be jaded and over it all by the 4th attempt. We've decided we'll try up to 6 times but not back to back so I can get back to enjoying my wine Life's for living ey.

Anyway, good luck with you 2nd cycle. Did you get a P with SYNAREL the first time round? Mine still hasn't arrived. 4 days late now. Don't know whether this will affect my treatment or not? Scheduled to start the injections next Wed night.
