For three months now I've had high E2 on D3, and also a big follicle (16 mm or bigger), together with a thicker lining, and an early surge (on D4 this month). Sometimes I get a second, weaker surge as well. I'm not on meds, because earlier in the year my FSH was too high and now my E2 is too high instead (it's said to be masking high FSH). Has anyone else had this problem, and what was suggested? I'm older (40s), and trying to grasp any remaining chance.

I had IUI last cycle after my second 'weak' surge, and again this month on D5, after my first surge. But it would be better if my cycle could be regularised?

Thank you for any experiences / advice you could share. Clunas.
Hi Kristen, My FSH has been quite a bit higher than yours, usually 14 or 17 or once 20! When it came down to 11.9, the clinic gave me meds (clomid and gonal-F) and I produced 3 follicles (said to be a better response than expected) and I tried IUI that cycle. But recently the FSH has gone right down (as low as 2.5 once) but estradiol has been too high (over 200-300) - sometimes 1,000! On those high E2 cycles the clinic doesn't like to give meds, either.

Is 10.7 your highest FSH so far? Does it drop lower sometimes? My clinic would be happy (and me too) if mine dropped to 10.7 one month, provided my E2 stayed under 200 as well! Best wishes, Clunas

Hi Clunas,

Sorry for taking long to get back to you...I had some computer problems...My highest FSH level has been 10.7 and just recently, on friday (day 3 it was 6)...it seems to vary between those 2 #'s...My doctor was saying that he was concerned about the fsh level being on the high side and said they wouldn't be able to do a cycle of ivf when it comes to that if it is too high (I say the word when because I am not too positive the iui will work and want to prepare my self mentally for what is to come)...also, my estrogen level was 213 on day 6 is that good or bad...what level is it exactly for the fsh and the estrogen for when they won't do the medication...Thank you for listening to me...Kristen
