Does anyone know why they would be doing an ultrasound on Day 2 of my cycle of the month that I start ICSI?? How gross!!! What do they think they will see????
mmc: at my clinic, this is considered the "baseline" scan (that varies by clinic) and mine is often day 1 of cycle (i tend to take an extra day after stopping bcp than most women). They are just seeing if everything is ok to start cycling.... ovaries are quiet w/o any large cyst they need to worry about.... uterus looks good, etc. Yeah, i get the "gross" part. One of my cycles, i went in and hadn't really started my flow yet... but by end of us i had!!! I was embaressed. Just remember, though, they do this all the time... and THEY schedule it that way!!! Good luck on your upcoming cycle!

No kidding - it is kinda gross, but they're used to it, they do it all the time. Like Sassy says, it's really important to make sure you're ready to start stimming, which will happen soon and probably before your finished w/ AF, so they gotta do it this way....You'll get through it, we all have!
Like the other girls said having your US during your cycle is pretty common--they are just doing a baseline US to check make sure everything looks a-ok. It is gross and embarassing and i actually talked to one of the nurses about it as i was soooo nervous about it. But like she said they do these types of US everyday and it is nothing to them--it is us that is embarassed. Try not to think about it and just consider it your first of many embarassing appts in the whole IVF process. By the time i was done with IVF i am pretty sure about 1000 people show my private parts and uterus. It will all be worth it in the end when you get that BFP. bridget
It is gross. But remember it happens to us all. My RE even said she prefers doing an ultrasound when there's some menstration occurring because it helps "slide things along". I guess she meant it's a natural lubricant. Anyway, I think I just upped the gross factor with that one! Sorry.
