We had our transfer today. Out of 3 eggs 2 fertilised. Yesterday we had a 4 cell and a 2 cell. The 4 cell hadn't gone on to divide at time of transfer, and the 2 cell had become a 4 cell, and looks to be going on to divide again, therefore, a slow starter.
I don't know if it was just me but the embryologist didn't seem too hopeful and said there is a reduced rate of pregnancy with embryos which are slow to get going, however, some people do go on to get pregnant in this situation. She explained that obviously they don't have any idea as to whether they will go on to divide now they are transferred and that all we can do is hope, but be realistic.
I shed a few tears in the transfer room... I'm trying to think that all hope is not lost but its hard to stay optimistic...
I'd be so grateful if you could share any experiences...whether good or bad... I just need to be prepared.

Can't really comment on slow dividing embryos and pregnancy, but during my last IVF my embies were slow to divide and therefore I had to have a 3day transfer because they didn't think they would survive to blastostage. Low and behold 3 days later all of the remaining 5 embies had got to blasto and were good quality! I think to say that you have to be realistic and think there is a good chance that it won't result in a pregnancy is unfair. Did they offer you the chance for a blasto transfer? Perhaps that might be something to think about for the future?
Like they said they don't know which embies will implant and which won't so keep the PMA going! Hopefully you will prove the embryologist wrong and have a BFP to show in 14 days time.
Good luck

Im sorry for the way you are feeling, i know i prob would be feeling the same way - and u would be the first on here to say ........
Anything could happen - Aunty told me before of her friend who had slow starters, and now she has twins! There was a lady on here the same time as us on our last cycle who had a 2 x 2cell's put back and she got a BFP - i dont remember her name but i remember looking for the same advise as u are looking for now - and it helped knowing that having a 2cell can go on to a BFP - sadley mine didnt, BUT that doesnt mean that ur's wont. Please PLease PLease dont lose ur PMA now hun, ur babies need u to be strong - and besides who knows when they fertalized - they might not have fertalized straghit away, and DH's sperm was a lazy ole git who finally managed to get there - a wee bit late s'all ........
Dont u dare give up hope yet OK - i mean it young lady! This is ur Cyber Fairy GM speaking here .......
Have Faith ....

I know this isn't really the same, but I have a friend who naturally had a BFP.
She took the test when her period was late and it was positive. She had an early scan and they said she was two weeks behind where she thought she was ie. the blob was too small to be where she'd calculated she was.
She was obviously very confused, but just grateful that she had a blob with a heartbeat. Lo and behold that baby comes out 2 weeks early at a really healthy weight. She was probably as far along as she thought all along and just had a 'slow starter' of a babe.
These things do happen. Hang on in there.

IVF Oct 06... BFP! A little boy due 6 July!
they were originally going to put 2 embies back in, but embies were slow starters and moderate fragmantation.
so they put two 4 celled embies back and one 6 celled embie. At the time I didnt know but after researching, I hear that those are slow starters for day 3.
I can understand what you are feeling, because I am also feeling really down, and I am going crazy.
