hi magnus,

she has a book called natural solutions for infertility. it is worthwhile reading. after reading it we went to see a nutritionalist and had to change our diet quite significantly and take supplements. you can have hair analysis done however she didn't think it necessary so i didn't do it.

some of supplements have made big improvement to david and me. to start with his sperm was ok not great. after taking saw palmetto for about 3/4 months it improved by about 30%; quantity and motility. my improvement was a much lower fsh level from 6.5 to 3.5 in the same time. all that said we are not pregnant but at least i feel we are doing as much as possible to increase our chances.
the supplements are listed in the book. you can get them from her practice (can be pricey)by phone or from local health shops. the nutritionist consultation cost us about 100 pounds and hair analysis is about the same but you don't have to do either.

let me know if i can help anymore.
phil

hi magnus, i'm doing ok (ish). we're inbetween treatments and trying naturally as recommended by our clinic. bl..dy stressful stuff.

we were at holly house too with our 2nd ivf (may 2003) 1st was with the lister (oct 2002). we didn't have a great experience with the lister so we then changed to a clinic recommended by marilynn grenville, and they use holly house.

we were happy with the staff and approach at holly house. however if we go through ivf again then i want assisted hatching and holly house don't do it and have no experience with it ( their words) so i would have to change again. the thought of starting with another clinic is painful... but so be it.

argc does look good. they were my joint first choice with the lister when first looking for a clinic. recently we've also looked overseas as some of the techniques used are more advanced, but not decided on that route yet.

also, i've started accupuncture and taking chinese medicine. the doc is really sweet. he said that we need to work work on getting me pregnant and being able to keep the baby. call me daft but this felt so comforting (who's rambling now....!)he says the blood flow to and thru the uterus is highly important. anyway since starting with the treatment my periods have changed so much for the better. with this and marilynn g's supplements i rattle but i'll stick with them for the time being.

you reached blasto stage... that is really good. i know it gives a much higher chance and your embryo's must have been good. from what i've read the argc seem to try and learn from previous attempts before trying again. it might be worthwhile investing in an initial consultation before deciding whether to change or not.

when do you think you'll try again?

phil

Hi Phil, thanx for your message, its good to talk to someone else at Holly House, they are very nice there and I found both Michael and William extremely competant doctors.I didn,t realise Marylyn Glenville uses them also, thats given me extra confidence.
I was interested to hear that you are perhaps looking overseas, its amazing how some fields of madicine are more advanced especially the states,I can understand your interest.
You sound like you have been through it over the past year or so,its not easy is it?
I am feeling a bit better today, had acupuncture yesterday not sure if its works that quickly!!!!!
I think I will again try in the new year, but not really sure,it takes so much out of you,the whole process is exhausting isn't it?
I am quite enjoying seeing my friends again for the odd glass of wine!!!!!
take care Magnus

hi magnus, i know what you mean about being able to have a glass of wine again. i completely abstained and when my 2nd ivf didn't work i started again and wow did it pack a punch! enjoy it!

good luck with your accupuncture. i've read so much that's positive so i'm really hopeful about it. it does de-stress too. it took a couple of go's for me before i noticed how chilled i was from it. it's lovely.

the ivf rollercoaster is really exhausting. a big build up, lots of hope at the drug taking stage, meet our embryo's before transfer and then bang! a period starts. how does that happen - it is just incredible. that said if it doesn't happen naturally then we'll go again.

take care of yourselves. let me know if/when you decide to go for it.
best wishes,
phil
