hello karen

Im sure I read a post from you recently regarding tests at St marys.
My consultant has just ref. us there (st marys in paddington)for more tests as we have had 4 m/c and 3 failed cycles.

I was just wondering if you could let me know what tests they did with you, and how long it all took..........Im a bit impatient, but arent we all!

ive been looking for your thread on this, but keep getting interupted. Ill try and look later on. I realise that everybodies cicumstances are different and there may well be different tests for different things.
In the meantime our clinic are carrying out a chromosone mismatch test.

ill be gratefull for any information karen

many thanks
kathryn
x
Hi Kathryn,

I saw Dr Raj Rai. I had thrombo-something or other testing, anti-phospholipid test and DH and I had chromosonal tests. The anti-phospholipid test has to be repeated 6 weeks after the original as the levels rise and dip over this period so you could have a -ve the first time round, and it could be +ve the 2nd time. I also had fasting insulin testing as I have PCOS and they were testing whether I am insulin resistant. The thrombo-something tests seem to be his new thing!! He said that the have just discovered in the last 6 months that your levels of this can affect both implantation and miscarriage. He was particularly "excited" about me as there is a history of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in my father.

I have my repeat test on 17th Nov, so won't be doing anything IVF wise until next year. It cost £150 for consultation, and about £400ish for the tests. There will be a repeat consultation after the next antiphospholipid test results are back.

In the blurb I was sent there were a lot of other test mentioned, and you are right, they will probably tailor it to your individual fertility problems.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

LOL

Karen
xx

hi karen
thanks for that.
we had a copy of the letter in the post yesterday, that our consultant had sent to Raj Rai. our consultant says in his letter that we want to start another cycle in january.....somehow I think that is a very unrealistic date, especially if there are going to be repeat tests.
anyway thanks for the info

good luck to you too karen

lots of love
kathryn
x
Hi again,

I do think it will be pushing it to start another cycle in January. I have just booked my follow up appointment, which has to be on a thursday (Mr Rai only does thursday appointments) 3 weeks after the 2nd anti-p testing, so this will be on 11 December, so all in all it will be 2 months to finish the testing etc. However, I am actually finding it pretty relaxing NOT being on a cycle, particularly as it means I can have drink at christmas. I am also feeling that, in the scheme of things, I would rather wait a few months and "get it right" than have another cycle without some more info. You will probably be able to go in February, which isn't too far away - honest!

lots of love

Karen
xx
