I wanted to find out if any of you are not sharing the name of your baby until the day you give birth. My DH and I decided that we were going to wait, but it seems as if MIL is offended that we are not making it known. Am I being foolish or is MIL? If any of you are not sharing the name, what reason are you giving? Any info would help! Thanks!

I would not & will not when I get pg again. My mil influenced my daughters name because she thought Mackenzie was a boys name. We named her Katelyn Mackenzie & Loved the name just the same but, was still influenced. How can you not be what people look at you funny or say isn't that a boys name? Just say you want it to be a surprise. Good lock
I don't want to share the name, when we thing of one, with anyone here locally but I sure wouldn't mind running it by you ladies. We really want something original but not silly. Is anyone on here sharing? We have a few marked in the baby name book but we've just began.

We have dedided to keep quiet about our name because we knew we were having a girl from the very begining due to testing,we have decided to keep the name to ourselves and give family and friends a surprise. However i really like Isabella as one of my choices and my mum told me that she has already named her temporarily and it is Isabella because after she saw dvd of scan she thought she was a busy izzy!! Maybe she has over heard us talking. Would be happy to hear about any names you guys are thinking of. I quite like the name Keziah but DP isn't to sure. I used to work with children and so have been influenzed a little by that. Good luck to you all with this big decision.

I am sharing my little girl's name (Adriana Kay). No one could ever influence me no matter what they said, so I saw no harm in sharing. My hubby may be the only one who could influence me, but since he helped pick it, I am pretty sure there will be no issues.

hi, i just wanted to say that I have twins who are 8 months old now, a boy and a girl.
it was so hard for me trying to pick any names, and i was only looking at boys names to start off with, and when i went for my 20 wk scan i was told i was having two girls!
i was so not convinced as i really thought that i would be having a boy. i just never really felt really girly at all!!! during a growth scan i asked them to double check and they confirmed that mother knows best!!! haha,
my dp helped pick Maqkai Antonio for our son, and I decided upon Jessenia Nataliyah for our daughter.
We didn't have any other names picked out for our daughter, as i wasn't thinking of any girls names until our scan and i found it so hard to choose, as i wanted their names to be different and perfect for them... now they could never be anything but jess and kai!!!
we chose to keep it quiet really, i think that we might have run a few names past people, but we didnt reveal their full names until after they were born... i think... cant really remember that far back... too stressed right now!!! good luck with what ever names you pick... and remember that you should have final say!!!
Naming our baby should be interesting because we don't really like the same type of names. DH is more into "Cool" sounding names and I like more classic and traditional. The other thing is that I like some names that I hate the nicknames for. Like, I love Francesca but do not like Fran. I like Charlie but don't like Chuck. This isn't going to be easy but I love that I need to figure it out!

EllieCat I had never heard the name Keziah until my sister named her darling daughter Keziah. She is now 18 months old and adorable. It is a lovely name (your post is only the 2nd time I have heard it used). It also had a lovely meaning (which I can't remember off the top of me head !!!)
Kholtan - I'm with you. I love some of the traditional names but don't like the abreviation.
DH and I lie in bed at night trying to find names we both like - it is proving to be a challange. He currently is fixated on 2 names (and I am worried they will be come permenant pet names should everything go according to plan in the next few weeks).
His latest contribuition is.......
Soda Pop if it is a girl - as she will have a lovely bubbly personality like her dad !!!! and won't all the kids at school wish they had such a cool name also.....
If it is a boy Albert Lea.......We live in New Zealand but my husband grew up in a little town in the states called "Albert Lea" wouldn't a little boy love to have a whole town named after him (says my DH !!!!)........ - It wouldn't be sooo bad if i really didn't like the name Albert soooooo much
Needless to stay we have a long way to go before we find the perfect name - but it is fun talking about "soda pop" and "Albert lea" last month it was "little zorro" if it was a boy........ hmmmm somehow I need to make sure I have veto rights on any name he comes up with.
have a good evening ladies.

We are about 90% set on the names for our 2 boys, which are Xavier and Isaiah. Of course that is the first question everyone asks "Do you have names picked out yet?" Myself, DH and DD made a vow not to tell anyone so when people ask if we have names picked out, we always say no. In fact, I always add that I won't name them until I see them (that way people stop asking). At first I tried saying that we weren't telling the names but people get offended when you say that. So now, we just say that we haven't picked out names yet. Much easier that way.

Arizonakiwi--I had to laugh at your post. Our dh's sound alike. Mine jokes to anyone who asks that we're going to name our child Hubcap. He just thinks it will be unique I'm pretty sure he's joking!
We decided that we weren't going to tell people our names...we are going to find out the sex, so we decided we should keep something a secret. However, I've had my names picked out forever, so those close to me know them. My faves are Lucy Marie and Jack Owen.
Well our story is a little different...My father is very ill and I had him pick a boy name and a girl name for us....The names are Emma Ray and Lukas Allen.I wanted him to feel a part of this.....So those are the names we are going with....

Meg - The name Lucy is lovely name - one I have always liked...
Skidoo - what a lovely thing to do - your baby will alway have a very special story attached to their name, which as they get older they will value more and more.
I hope you are both feeling good

Skidoo~ What a great idea! He must have good taste because those are beautiful names. I've always loved a name with a story and meaning. What a special way to share their grandpa with them forever. LOVE IT!!!!

I just totally giggled at "Hubcap". That is so funny - your husband sounds like a riot! Sounds like something my crazy five year old son would come up with.
We did talk about names to others when pregnant with my son and my MIL always felt the need to put her two cents in. I finally had to say politely but quite bluntly that she had her chance to name her two kids thirty-something years ago, and now her son and I have the chance to name ours. The funny thing is, even though we knew for months that we were having a boy, he was 30 hours old before we named him (Noah Christopher) because my husband got cold feet about it! The nurses got mad at us!
I'm only 6 weeks along now so we have quite a while, and we will find out what we're having, so my husband always says let's just wait until we know, then we don't have to come up with two!
