Hi Karma-k,

I was wondering why my RE didn't get an estradiol level. I thought he was going to from my IVF consult. Anyway, I hope my fsh level is normal---that would be another hurdle for me if it's not. Good luck with yours too. I had my hsg earlier last month and later on will get the saline sono...it's test after test!!!! Ugh, I hope everything will be smooth sailing from here. Are you starting on bcp's too? As far as my drugs, my clinic orders it from a pharmacy in Cleveland, Ohio and they deliver it right on the doorstep. They will be ordering mine sometime this week. I wonder how much I'll be paying for that!

Everyone else, question for you guys...esp. those who has had previous cycles before. Did you take any other vitamin or mineral supplement other than prenatals or multivitamin during the cycle itself? I've read about an extra dose of magnesium, zinc, flaxseed oil, omega fatty acids, coenzyme q10, etc.... There's just too much to take I don't even know where to start. How about diet changes??

Thanks,
Anna

Hey, she finally arrived today and god did she arrive with anger  !! So know that today is def day 1, no doubt about that!

Phoned the clinic and they are putting a plan together and sending it to me so will start down-regging on the 25th February.
:D

Can I ask a silly question, whats the HCG test and why do you have it before you start? I don't appear to be having any tests/scans before I start , thinking I am missing out!! May be it will part of my plan when it arrives - being to impatient! They also do not re-test my FSH level - think last time it was about 9 which is worrying so having accu to help bring it down.

Anna - I take a pre-natel multi-vit tablet which has all the things that you are susposed to have, like folic acid, zinc etc.... my clinic told me to take 400g of folic acid, but these tablets only have about 300g but my clinic said that was ok. In terms of diet, just stopped drinking and tried to eat a little more fresh veg/fruit and drank more water and milk.

Welcome Mandeeq - 14 little ones waiting for you, how fantastic.

Nicky - hope you have recovered from yr trip - where abouts did you go?

Holly - sorry the witch isn't playing ball with you, how much leeway have you got before you miss your 4th Mar date? Shall pray hard that she arrives soon

And whats with the chrimbo emoticons again - or it just my pc!!

Happy monday everyone...

Hey girls, happy Monday :? .................

Nimble, they are checking HCG levels (pregnancy hormone) on me because I had a m/c on my last cycle, so before I start the next one the HCG has to be back to zero. That it why they don't test that on you, you luckily don't need it....By the way, congrats on your AF!!

Anna, I only took prenatal vits, nothing else.......

Still no AF for me  ............not even signs of it.......

See you guys later!

Nims, noooo, your question didn't upset me at all, don't worry!!. Yes this would be my first AF since the m/c. It has been 6 weeks since the D&C, but 2 weeks after the D&C I had very heavy bleeding (apparently some retained products of conception....sorry if TMI  ), so I don't know whether to count from the D&C or from that bleeding. If I count from that bleeding I would be due tomorrow, but anyhow, I don't have any signs at all of AF..... ..........how long after your m/c did AF showed for you? (I am very sorry for your m/c as well...)

Wow, our list is rapidly growing! Welcome Steph, Bridget Jones, Mandeeq and Sha!!! :D

I was glad to read that AF has finally arrived to many of you and the process can really start. Congrats Karma-k, Jackie and Anna! (for once it's a good thing, huh?). Not too long before downregging... :P

Vicky, so sorry to hear about that tiny 0.2 that forces you to go back for BW this week :( But I'm sure it's going to be close to zero now, it's just the waiting that sucks. I hope AF arrives soon and you can get started too.

Same thing to you Holly - hopefully AF won't be too long now!

Thank you so much for your encouragement and interest, Vicky, Nerms & Anna. The different websites are so confusing - some claim that if the rise is less that 66% in two days there is NO chance of a viable preg; others follow the 60% rule and some are really discouraging by insisting on the doubling. So needless to say I've been a wreck.

Unfortunately I still have no definite news. the first rise was from 318 to 560, which could well be acceptable but RE wanted to check again. The second rise was percentagewise even worse - this time LESS (just a little, but less all the same) than that feared 66% (from 560 to 920). The nurse who gave me the results stayed off the line for the looongest time and finally came back and said this is acceptable to the RE and welcome back in two weeks for a scan. Meanwhile I'd already calculated the percentages and sat there trembling and realizing the few symptoms I had have receded a bit... There's no way I can wait two weeks, I'm so afraid of an ectopic (the other option would be a blighted ovum - very sad but at least not dangerous and less chance of subsequent trouble in conceiving). So I called my OB's office; the receptionist and the PA are really nice and they are having me in this week and possibly next week to try and see if there is a sac i.e. diagnose or rule out the ectopic, so that I can sleep... They told me I'm right to worry but that again, all is not lost just yet.

Sorry about this explosion of worries and emotion, I'm a wreck

Hugs everyone!

hi all,

Thanks for the welcome. I have a very crazy job and don't really get to check email until i get home around 6pm if I have enough energy, so I haven't written in a while.

Vicky - It took me eight weeks for my AF to arrive after my miscarriage. Hang in their it will happen soon!

I won't be doing my FET until the end of march now instead of the begining because my doctor wants to do a medicated cycle instead of a natural cycle because he says it's easier to control since my AF's are so irregular. More waiting!!

My husband and I are in a debate over how many embroys to put back anybody have any advice in a FET cycle. We put two back in our fresh IVF cycle and got twins but I herad that you should put back more in a frozen cycle because your sucess is lower. I'm just very scared of triplets.

hope everyone had a great weekend

vicky - it was about 6 wks for AF to show for me after m/c - she will arrive, she just takes her time especially after everything you've been through xx

Rae - wish I had a wand that magic everything ok for you - the not knowning is the hardest part and the waiting is the worst torture ever and it would be great if you could get in this week. As easy as it may sound, please don't give up, hold in there. A few months ago on another thread, one of the girls went through hell with her figs to the point that the RE said that she had m/c and then they said that she had an ectopic and long story short, they discovered she had twins and as far as I know she is still heavy with bumps! Sometimes things are not as they seem. Sending you hugs (((((hugs)))))

Hi everyone,

I had bad news today. I found out my FSH was at 12.3. I was just so upset I could hardly go back to work. I had one taken about 1 yr ago and the level was at 6.4. Have you guys heard about this happening that in one year it doubled???? I don't know how my cycle is gonna progress now. I have been on the internet researching this and I guess some clinics cancel an IVF patient when their levels are above 10. Does this affect the egg quality/quantity??? I'm just soooo frustrated and sad. Every step is a hurdle. I asked the nurse at my clinic and she said the RE will discuss the next step at my next visit which is Monday.

I'm so sorry for dampening the mood! I'll feel better soon....
Anna
PS: I posted this on the general forum too to see if anybody out there has had a high level and came back with good quality eggs and eventually had a live birth. Thanks

Nimble, thank you so much for your encouragement and the happy story - it is true that it is way too early to give up. It's good that we have this forum for airing our concerns, worries and of course also those blissful moments - it makes this all so much more tolerable!

Anna, so sorry to hear about your FSH. It's quite unsettling when you get some not-so-great results and then have to wait a whole week to get a more thorough explanation. A big hug to you and strength to struggle through the week until your appointment.

As to your question, I don't really know how a high FSH level will work into the IVF process. It is of course always an indication that something is off balance and that there might be an issue with egg quality/quantity. Your levels, luckily, aren't supersuperhigh, but I know these things are so upsetting. Hopefully your RE will be able to give you some encouraging news and will still be able proceed with the tmt.

I can, however, offer you this - my best friend was told last summer that she had an elevated FSH level (about the same as yours) and that might pose a problem in TTC. Her doctor was an idiot and made her feel that she'll reach menopause supersoon and will not be able to have kids. That turned out to be BS of course, but she was still recommended some tmt, IVF as one really viable option. So in her case it was definitely deemed appropriate to perform IVF. The greatest thing about the story is that while she was waiting the tmt to start and feeling scared for her eggs, she got preg naturally and is now happily at 20 weeks...

I don't know if that helps at all but it seems that IVf and high FSH are not incompatible and your eggs may surprise you any day

Thank you so much for that encouraging story, Rae.... I so appreciate it. I've just been reading too much internet info on this and I'm getting more frustrated. Your story about your best friend does help. I just hope I can proceed with the cycle and go from there. I am so sorry about your hurdle too. I will be praying for you that everything turns out fine. I know it's worrisome but try to stay positive too. Big ((((hugs))))) to you!

Anna, I'm so glad if I managed to make even a tiny bit of difference and bring you some immediate hope!

I know exactly how that internet thing goes - I'm a master at surfing and digging for info until my head hurts and I feel really desperate and scared. Sometimes you're lucky enough to find reassuring info but more often I end up terrified because there are all these horror stories and worst case scenarios. But what can you do - sometimes the need to find out something is just so compelling. Today when I called the PA she laughed (in a kind sort of way) when I told her that I had allowed myself to completely panic after reading about the 66% and doubling etc. She advised me to stay offline for a bit :D

Thank you for your kind thoughts!
