Pregnant and cannot believe it

Post by Rekha »

Hi everyone. I cannot believe this, but I am pregnant after 13 years of marriage and 8 years of treatment. I had my first IVF in January and just got the news of my lifetime on Monday. I really couldn't believe it at first.

I am so excited, going for 2nd beta today. 1st beta was 150. I hope they will schedule my first scan soon...cuz I am so excited......

I have so many questions for my Dr....

REKHA, SO GLAD I CAUGHT UP W/ YOU! YOUR ONLY SAYING ONE NUMBER, MY RN GAVE ME THREE. THEY DIDN'T CHANGE SINCE MONDAY, AND I'M REALLY NERVOUS NOW AND I'M THINKING THIS ISN'T REALLY TRUE OR GOING TO HAPPEN FOR ME.

SHE SAID SOMETHING LIKE (H - NUMBER IS 53.6, THE PROGEST # 41.3, THE EST. # 211. DO ANYTHING OF THOSE SOUND LIKE WHAT YOU HEARD? YOU SOUND SO POSITIVE AND I WANT TO FEEL EXCITED BUT SOMETHING TELLS ME NOT TO.

DID YOU TELL ANYONE (BESIDES THIS BOARD YET?)

Mynala, why don't you call the nurse and ask her what your beta is. what is beta #1 and numbers for beta #2.

My first beta is 150 which was Monday, I took another blood test this morning and am awaiting the results. The nurse told me that initial beta of 150 was good but the rang of first beta is a very large range.

I know I am excited, I havent told many people, just a few friends who knew I was undergoing this and supported me thru all this and my immediate family.

Mynala--My guess is that the H number she said is your beta number (that's the hcg found in your blood). So your beta is 53.6, which is definitely positive. I think anything over 6 is a big yes. The important thing is that the number doubles within 72 hours. The progesterone # is important because progesterone is what makes up the lining of your uterus to keep baby fed and happy. My RE said that the number needs to be above 20--so you're doing beautifully!

It's hard to believe, isn't it? Hope that answers a couple of your questions. Congrats to both of you on the bfps!

I was given some devestating news yesterday, my beta went from a 150 on Monday to a 2 Wednesday. RE couldnt believe this, this is a very steep drop and he thinks there is a possiblity of a lab error.

I cried a bit last night, but am being strong. Hoping for a lab error, but prepared otherwise also.

These 7 weeks have been a roller coaster ride for sure. Happy one minute, sad another....

I am going for another blood draw this morning....let's see...I am not bleeding or spotting..

I ASKED WHEN I COULD GET AN U/S DONE, AND SHE SAID NOT UNTIL WEEK 7, WHICH WOULD BE AROUND FEB. 26TH SHE SAID, SO I BOOKED IT, NOW I GUESS I WAIT TILL MONDAY AND SEE IF MY DREAM IS STILL HERE.

Mynala--I'm praying everything goes well for you. It's so hard not to worry, but try to take care of yourself and enjoy being pregnant!

Rekh--You poor thing. I would have murdered them. I mean, you should at least get your next blood draw free. Mixing up the results. That just sucks! Glad everything turned out all right!

mynala - I too had to wait until week 7 for the first scan - it seems many REs do things differently. Mine waits until week 7 because it's definitive that you should see a heart beat by that time. Some scan in week 6 but if there's no heart beat, it could mean there's something wrong, but it could just mean it's too early. My RE doesn't want to have to put someone in the situation of worry for a whole week whether something is really wrong.....I don't think there's a 'right' or 'wrong' method - but I think that's why some REs scan earlier or later than others....Hang in there, I know this second wait may seem even more stressful than the first one, but you'll get there! Good luck!

Rekha - what an awful stress for you about that lab error! I'm so glad things worked out finally! Your beta's look really strong! Congrat's!
