Hello ladies.
Quick question...I have polyps that I am needing to have removed. Has anyone had this done? If so, what exactly is the procedure? I know it takes place in the hospital, but not sure if it is an outpatient surgery or what. Also, how long after they are removed do I have to wait to start the whole IVF procedure.
I am wanting to start Lupron in May so that I can be pregnant (PMA) in June. Just trying to get everything lined up.
Hi there! I too had polyps. I had 2 removed on Jan 4 and started my Lupron shots on the 26th. I am sure I could have started earlier......but here we have to attend an IVF class before we start and they didn't have an opening after my surgery until 23rd.
I had my surgery at the hospital and it took about an hour between start to when I woke up. I don't remember anything - and I was a little groggy and a little achey - but it only lasted one day following......then I was boppin around again full functioning by day 3.
I remember I was really scared going in.......but I also had a laparoscopy done - and the polyp surgery was nothing compared to that.
FYI - it will all be fine, quick, and you should be able to move forward quickly!
I think my dr said they like to do that at the end of your cycle - but I can't remember........I had been on depo provera so didn't have a cycle so he went ahead w/my surgery.
From what he told me though - it's not like one just develops back overnight - they can take years to grow back.......unlike Endo which can come back at any point.
The doctor realized a year ago that I had the polyp, but I have waited until I was ready to do my IVF to have it removed. However, I thought he said something about having to wait like 6 weeks to start the IVF. Of course this was a year ago, and my memory is a little foggy.
I am traveling 450 miles to have the surgery done, so I have to be careful with the scheduling of it....Can't take much time off work.
And of course I have endo as well. Life just can't be easy:(
Hi hrrobinson - I had a polyp/fibroid removed last year - they never did distnguish what it was. It was really tiny .5cm but they insisted it had to come out as it would act as an IUD and prevent the embryo implanting and growing.
The op is minor - only under for about 25 mins - bled a bit afterwards and a bit sore. I had the next off work too. Usually grogginess/nausea when coming round. I had to wait about 6 weeks until I could do my FET as the lining of my uterus had to recover. Hope this helps - good luck. A

Thank you so much for your response. I think I have the surgery scheduled for March 9. I am then hoping to start Lupron in May. I am so worried about everything, but I know PMA!!!
