tempature

Post by madiva »

Hello is 98.4 normal for a 3 1/2 month old or is that too low? Going crazy here. I took his temp through the rectum. We went to the doctor and he was diagnosed with RSV. So we have to go back in the morning to get him checked out by his regular doctor. So now I am freaking, can't sleep and even called 911 for an abulance because I took his temp the 1st time and it was 97.5 so I freaked. They came and said he is fine. I am a basket case and not going to sleep until the appt tomorrow. At least I am going to try not to. Oh I must not have had it in all the way and that is why it read 97.5 but his real temp right know is 98.4. Parametics say I dont need to go to hospital and that it normal but I need yall advice. Thanks

Sorry if I am all over the place with this message.

Hi Madiva

How is he? I hope he is feeling better (and you). You probably already know now but in answer to your question a normal temperature in babies is between 96.8-98.2F (36-36.8C). Anything over 100.4F (38C) is considered high. So his reading of 98.4F was perfectly normal.

Let us know how he is.

Hello again. Colin and I are doing well. Thank You. I took him to the doctor Tuesday morn and they did a breathing treatment and his oxygen level was 91 so the sent me to childrens hospital to have him admitted. She said that he would be there for a few days. Well we got there Tuesday (straight from doctors) and we got home this morning (Wednesday). He never ran any fever or even acted sick he was laughing and playing the whole time. He was even flirting with the nurses. It was so cute, he would look at them, smile and turn his head. He would get mad when they would not look at him and when they looked he would do it over and over again. Anyway he is doing great, no fever and his just playing away. I just have to watch him, suction the nose and breathing treatments as needed. As for me, well I am a walking zombie no sleep for 2 days. Thanks for your concern. Just from what people what telling me was making me crazy and it got to me and well I just went nuts. I will be better in the morning when I get a full nights sleep. Thanks again.
