Denise: Oh girl, i am so sorry. haven't been in your place, so can't imagine how that feels, but i am so sorry this happened.

Just got back from our consult. I always feel better after having a new plan. Luckily our RE is very patient, as dh and i always have tons of questions. So we are doing our karyotypes, just to be sure. At this point, the plan is to stim 3 times in a row, freezing all at 2pn then thawing them all out at once (expect >30), and see if any become healthy blasts (With our history, i would be over the moon if we got 4-5 good blasts). Some of you "old timers" may remember that was the plan before this cycle, but then we had such great fert results this time, we went ahead and did a FET right away. They have had great success with the 2pn thawing to blasts this month with almost everyone so far getting preg, so i am happy to be doing the 2pn thaw again, just in mass quanitity. Also, it means i will stim 3 times but have only one huge nail biter at the end (ooo, and you guys saw how POORLY i deal with nail biters!!). We like the idea. If it doesn't work... i think we will be calling it quits, and i will be fighting becky for the cyber gm job (of course, by then she will have a nice big baby belly!). I will get my schedule on Fri and expect to start stimming the beginning of march. oooo, have to say, i am getting just a bit excited for the needles again (what the h*ll is wrong w/me? ).

Ciao!

Hey Sass, that sounds like a great plan. Sounds like a really good idea to confine the nail biting to one bit hit! Seems like your RE is a person who can "think outside the square" so to speak! Can I ask why they don't freeze at blast stage as opposed to freeze at two days and develop to blast after thaw??? I'm wondering if there is a difference...I like to have a few questions up my sleeve for next time if there is one (hopefully not!!)

BTW, you know how you dreamed that you phoned me the other day?? Last night I dreamed that you phoned me....and that Angie had a baby...

Good evening ladies,

Just a real quick note because I'm off to bed... spent a lot of time surfing for our honeymoon so didn't feel like reviewing all those pages, though I did write them.

Aunty: happy birthday! Sorry to hear you're sore, I know what it feels like... ew! But it does help to know how many embies are waiting for you, doesn't it?

cookholmes: I'm so very sorry for you sweetie.. the others are right; there's nothing to say, other than my thoughts are with you and if you need anything, you know what to do. *hugs*

sassy: great to hear you have a new plan! You sound enthusiastic and that truly makes my day!

shantala: thinking of you darling! I hope your husband is well taken care of at the hospital. How long do they plan to keep him? Hang in there sweetie! *hugs*

Off to bed with some progesterone... sorry I'm not writing more! But a big and genuine THANK YOU for all those lovely ladies who sent me encouragements and kind words (especially tcbalgord... whew, the way you talked about my embies sounded so nice!). It does make a true difference in this crazy ride!

Lots of love to you all,

Sophie

Aunty, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
We are a day ahead in New Zealand and I can tell you your birthday was a lovely warm summers day - perfect for blowing out candles and eating cake !!!!!

I can relate to the going backwards 1 year for every birthday. My DH is a few years older than me and we joke that every year he will get a year younger until we meet somewhere in the middle.

Ange, thanks for your wishes - I did my first stim injection an hour ago - looking forward to those eggs growing over the next week or 2. I have been really lucky with symptoms up until yesterday. But I have had a horrid headache for the last day and 1/2 - just wont budge. Hopefully a good nights sleep will move it on. I have a job interview on Monday so I am hoping side effect from the injections aren't too bad......

Here is an ethical question I am struggling with - perhaps you ladies could help me. I am doing some contract work for a company who asked me to appy for a job they have avaliable (hence the interview on Monday). The salary is really good and it is a new position they are developing. Should I tell them that I may only be there for nine months so they know where they stand from the begining????. Friends tell me I shouldn't worry about it and if they offer it to me to take the job - but somehow I feel like I am deceiving them if I take the job knowing that I could be leaving before I had been there a year. Any suggestions on the best way to deal with my conscious

Hi Ladies,

Thank you all for your comments on my dilemma about which way to go, im sorry if I confused any of you :? I confused myself, so ur not alone lol.

Well Brian and I had a talk last night till we were blue in the face  and I think we have come to a decision on which way we feel is best for us to go and with what we feel comfortable. Our decision does in NO way reflect what we feel about anyone elses decisions on this rollercoaster, and in no way do I judge anyone’s decisions, we all have to go by what is best for us.

So, here goes – we have decided to go with the ICSI and to just fert 2 eggs (like the last time) but at least this time my eggs will be checked and the best ones picked which will be perfect for the fert. The reason we have chosen this route ladies, is because we feel that if there are any good embies left to freeze and that this works for us, then we will be left with embies that we wont really want. Now before most of you start screaming at the screen, you have to understand that I already have 2 children aged 18 and 16 and already being 38, to go on and have more at the age of 40+ would be a bit too much for me. Should I get pregnant this time and have twins, then that will be brill cos I will be having them both at the same time, but to leave a year or two in between, I don’t think I could go on to have more. Im sorry if this upsets some of u, I don’t intend to, like I said its something that Brian and I have decided which is best for us.
Also, if this doesn’t work I agree we wont have nothing to fall back on, but we will get another go on the NHS (we have decided to get on the private list for this go while we work our way up the NHS one)

As a lot of you will be staring at the screen in disbelief that we are going for the 2 egg fert again  I hope u can understand why we have decided this route, besides as its been pointed out by our DR and by Aunty – we did have a 100% fert rate the last time :D which is in itself fantastic, so it’s a risk we are willing to take, and this way we can live with our decision.

Thank you all for ur input, it did help in our decision, u are incredible women who I love and respect very much xxx As for now tho, we have to wait on the waiting list (about 3mths) but at least we know we are going again – 2 times if need be, and im so excited about that ….

Denise,

Honey I am so so sorry. Unfortunately I know how it feels. It happened to me 3 times before so I know the devastation you must feel.
You know you can become pregnant so I hope you won't give up honey.
Take time to grieve with DH and look after each other.

Well I have looked over your site and just find it so calming that there are so many of you I just find sometimes that I am the only one doing IVF (stupid me) but reading all the posts is just mind blowing.
So our story we have a wonderful 22 mth old son which was a result of our very first go of IVF/ICSI we collected 7 eggs only 4 were ok, I replaced 2 and then found out the other 2 were no longer good. So it jus had to happen that time and so it did. Now we are going back to the very start to try for another child. I feel we were very very lucky and blessed our first time around.
So at the moment I have taken the pill for the 4 weeks, started the syneral spray and tomorrow have my 1st scan to see if all is going the way it should, then I start the injections....
Hope you all dont mind me joining in....
