I wanted to see if anyone wanted to join a list who's doing a transfer this month. We will be doing our HCG trigger shot tomorrow and a FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) on, probably, the 13th. I'd love to be in touch with others who are transferring and doing the 2ww this month.
I had my egg retrieval today (Feb 6th). We got 7 eggs. So hopefully we will be transfering on friday the 9th. We have to go the ICSI route because hubby has a a very low count. Good luck to us both.
Well, you're in the thick of it! Let's pray for lots of fertile egg and sperm tonight so you can gloat over your fertilized eggs tomorrow! I realized I started this post but will be away and have very little time on email for the next few days. Silly me! Nevertheless, I am so glad to know of you and that you are in the crucial stages right now. If you don't hear from me on the ninth, please know that I will be thinking of you and hoping for a peaceful day. My Dr.'s say relaxing isn't too big of a deal on a transfer day, but I'm committing this time to spending the day in bed and pampering myself! Why not..
Hope you are recovering well from your retrieval and that it wasn't too stressful. If you have the time, let me know how things go. I may get a chance to check email.

I'm new to the boards. I'd love to be a part of the Febuary FET chat group. Our First Fresh IVF transfer was a BFN. I really didn't have anyone to really talk about it with except for DH. Now we are getting ready for a FET on the 16th of Feb. I have 3 good and 3 fair FE's. My infertility doc thinks we should transfer only 2, but I'm thinking maybe it should be 3. I'm 39 years old (40 in april) and we are using a 25yr olds donor eggs. If ya have any opinion on how many you would transfer and why, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for chiming in. Sorry about your first BFN. Ugh. We went through that after our first fresh transfer too. Well, actually, we got an implantation with one blast but not a viable pregnancy. Was your first tranfer with a donor egg?
I completely understand the questions about how many to transfer. It's a very personal decision so I am hesitant to put in my two cents as they would be highly influenced by our story. Our last cycle our dr. encouraged us not to transfer four embryos when it was really what I wanted. We transferred three and none took. This time we will hopefully have up to six good embryos and I will lobby to tranfer them all. (It's our third attempt and, like you, I am 39). So, I'm pretty motivated these days to transfer more rather than less.
Of course, you have to weigh allt he questions about a reduction. Are you willing to do that? Would you carry triplets (could you)? How do you feel about twins? What is your pregnancy history? What factors influence your infertility? I don't expect you to answer these questions, I just know they weigh in on the 'how many to transfer' decision.
Perhaps the most important question is what do YOU think? What feels right to you? What are you concerned about?
You will be transferring a few days after us. I hope we can keep in touch!
I am doing FET this month. I think I am almost on the same schedule as you KSwann, did my trigger a couple of nights ago and will have the transfer on 12 February 2007. Have three blasts on ice. Starting to get a bit nervous!
Shel I too am coming to this FET with one IVF attempt resulting in BFN...I'm not sure about the numbers to transfer...In australia they tend only to want to put one in unless there have been repeated failures or depending on the age of the lady. There must be a greater chance of pregnancy with the down side being multiples and the risks that they carry. Not an easy decision to make and thankfully an option I have not yet been presented with!
Alyson good luck with transfer tomorrow, will hold thumbs for you!
Hi kswan Thanks for the nice welcome and your BFN Sympathy. I'm also sorry for your first BFN. Did you do a day 5 transfer? I was a day 3 transfer (8 cells). Anyway, I'd like to answer some of your questions if not all so we can get to know each other better. I also Filled in some info in my profile, as I see now many members have. First off, Yes my first transfer was from an anonymous donor. My infertility is due to chemotherapy treatments back in 1989-1990. I'm married 10 yrs now and I have no more eggs of my own. At least this way my husband will be in the genetic makeup and I will be able to give birth to our baby.
Thanks for telling me your story on how many you transfered. We Transfered 3 excellent eggs last time but only because it was a difficult transfer and one was possibly lost . After my BFN they did a trail tranfer on me to map out my uterus so the next FET should go smoothly and that's why the Dr. thinks only 2 again. I really think how many get transfered are going to depend on how my snowbabies survive the thaw. If I have at least 2 good ones survive the thaw. then it will be just two, but if only 1 good survives and the rest are fair then put em all in! As far as a reduction goes. I don't think I could do a reduction, with the risk of lossing all the babies. So I guess in the end I would probably only transfer 3 at the most and take the risk of triplets again. I would love to have twins and I've already gotten used to the scary possibility of triplets.
I will be praying for you that your third time is a charm and ALL your snowbabies make it through the thaw. Lets keep each other positive!
Fiona,
hey there, sorry on your first BFN too . Well, now it's time for us to move forward! My thoughts and prayers will be with you on your next IVF attempt. I read Blastocysts have a higher pregnancy statistic because they are right at the natural stage of implantation. That's probably why they only like to transfer 1 at a time. If it were me that had 3 blasts on ice I think I'd want 2 transfered cause I'd love to have twins, I always pictured myself with twins. That's me though, you need to go with what's right with you. Good luck with your decision on how many you transfer.
So glad to hear from you both. Unfortunately, I am at a retreat and don't ahve a lot of time to respond today. I will try tomorrow. We'll see. I'd love to say lots about all the numbers of embies to transfer, etc.
For now, please know that I'm lookign forward to getting back to you.
Kswan
p.s. what was difficult about the transfer? That sounds HARD!!
pps. would love to chat about donor eggs. I'm thinking about that if this cycle doesn't work...
Kswan,
Hope your having fun on your retreat. I look forward to chatting more when you returnl.
As for the difficult transfer. Orinally only 2 embies were to be transfer. However the stylet they transfer the embies with looped up on itself in me an when he pulled it in order to adjust it, one of the embies was gone and there was no telling where it went. So another embie was added and I took the risk of triplets if by chance the lost one ended up in the right place and implanted. Then when the stylet was placed for transfer again it was too difficult see where the top of my uterus was. The Dr. kinda guessed at placing at the right spot without being able to see. The result being the 2 embies placed at 7.5 cm in, 2 ww, and a BFN . After having a trail transfer it turns out my baby housing is long (10cm), tilted and curved. Next time they will place embies closer to the top, now that it's all mapped out. . That should give the embies a better shot at sticking
Ps. I'll answer what ever I can about donor for you, but I doubt you'll need a donor cuz your next time wil be a BFP
Ok, ladies, I had a lining check and blood draw today. My lining looks great, I could transfer sooner if we wanted. I'm going to keep things scheduled how they are and wait till next Friday.
Alyson,
I hope your transfer went smooth today and I send you lots of wishes full of sticky stuff.
hi there, have never joined a forum in my life but on day 8 of my protocol and have no one other than my husband to talk to. I'm from England but living in the US which means that close friends and family are a long way away. Follistim injections are going Ok but start the microdose and Antagon (ganirilex?) tomorrow and am nervous about my reaction. Are they ok? Overall just petrified that this will end up in a negative result and not sure how I'll cope. Retrieval will be thursday or friday of this week.
would love to hear from anyone going through the process too
Hey Rebecca and welcome! I've never been on a forum before this one either but now I''m addicted. You'll get some great support from the ladies here. I find that it is much easier to chat about the process with the ladies here than most of my friends...
I'm not sure what the drugs you mention are...we have different names for them in Oz...Is the microdose and the Antagon the trigger shot?? If so, I can tell you that I didn't have any problems with it. I must admit that I worried throughout my first IVF (i'm on second one now) but nothing bad happened...it's pretty stressful though...all those damn hormones!
Good luck with your retrieval, I'm sure you'll do fine!!!
Alyson, hope your transfer went well.
Shel, congrats on the lining. I was ridiculously proud when they told me mine was a beauty! Good luck on Friday.
Rebeccaj,
Welcome! I hope you are now well rested and taking it easy after your retrieval. Now I give you wishes for lots of fertile eggs! Can't wait to hear how many you got . Are you having a 3DT or 5DT (3 or 5 day transfer)?
Thanks Fiona for knowing how I felt about my lining check .
