Funny we are confronting the same sleep issue...Isabella is a bit different...because she is so active (arms and legs are constantly in motion)...she has been sleeping on her stomache..I know bad but there was no way she would sleep on her back..believe me I have tried. We did swaddle a little bit but being ms. activity she fought it...so we now use the sleepbag but she fights this too...she hates being constrained but the sleep bag is not tight so to settle her down we walk around for about an hour and then i put her to bed...it is a fight every night for her to go to sleep...but she has been sleeping through the night since 7 weeks so i can't complain.

she is still suffering from unbelievable gas/air...the night before we had a four hour screaming session..she was in so much pain so yesterday we went to docs to make sure it wasn't anything major..nope just gas...she got her first acupuncture treatment! well baby acupuncture with a laser..it worked on the way home she tooted and burped the entire way.

oh i can't wait to start solids but we have another month. talking about solids..i have totally lost my appetite..strange but every time i eat it just doesn't taste good..and i lost most of the baby weight in the first month..i have some extra which needs to come off but i need to work out to start 'tightening' up again...but i just can't find the time!

anyone else feel like they can't find the time in the day outside their babies? the day seems to fly by..i always have lofty goals for the day and then all of a sudden it is bath time and prep for bed time.

Hi ladies
Sorry this has to be a short post i just thought I'd put my two bob in regarding the sleep routine and swaddling. I was told to start getting baby use to sleeping with out his arms swaddled up before he could roll If bub decides to roll during the night and there arms are tucked in tight they won't be able to roll back therefor causeing increased chances of suffocation Sorry have to go just thought this would be something important to consider as all your babes are getting older. Boy times flying

do your babies still have the uncontrolled jerking motions? when does this disappear? isabella's arms and legs are still moving all over the place..sometimes she gets control over them but i thought this disappears at 3 months???

I think around 2 months I noticed my DS being able to control his movements better While in his bouncer he would reach for the toys hanging in front of him he could reach out to grab them with more control and confidence and then would try to get them to his mouth he move his arm with such speed and most of the time end up hit the toy on his cheek or chin or he would loose grip and let go and then his hand would go in his mouth instead. At xmas time ds was 3 and a half months he was able to take a toy from me and hold it better and not drop it so easy probably for the past 3 to 4 weeks he has been definately shown a lot more control of his actions he can now take his dummy out of his mouth turn it around in his hands look at it and then put it back in his mouth mind you when tired his actions are still wild. As for the time in the text books that they are meant to have more control I'm not sure . Can I suggest that you look up childrens devlopmental milestones and there you will find what bub should be able to do at different ages. Wow...my boys slept 10 hours straight last night without waking up! I woke up so surprised (and my breasts were leaking all over)! That's the first time I've gotten more than 6.5 hours of straight sleep since they were born. I feel like a new woman today!

We've been using the Swaddle Me wrap thing since we stopped using receiving blankets around 2 months old. And we've kept their arms out of them since then....they hate having them constrained too.

They are getting control of their arms, and have just started to grab their blankets, pull out their pacifiers and grab our hands. But they aren't reaching out and grabbing any toys yet or even reaching for the toys that dangle from the mobiles or gymnini's.

Are you all finding time for mommy/daddy/partner time? DH & I have been getting babysitters since they turned 3 months old. We have 2 girls at the same time since I don't trust just one with the twins. We are going to a dinner & movie tonight. It's nice to be able to get out again.

hi there girls
sorry not been on for a while its been a hectic few weeks!
dh lost his job!!!!
he was self employed and had worked for same comp for 11 years and they gave him 3 days notice to quit which is pretty poor i think
even worse with a new baby
he has gotta new job now though just not paying as much as before
kieran is fine he is doing so well he is startin teething so thats a whole lotta dribbling to deal with!! and his hands are constantly shoved in his mouth
its not too bad though we get the occasional loud scream of pain and he has very watery poops but its not too bad at tha moment
isnt it funny how all babies are so different
kieran has only just really found his hands
only in last 3/4 days has he been able to reach out and grabthings and play with his toys although he has been holding the boobies for weeks now
as for sleep we must be luckiest parents alive
he is now easy sleeping12 hours thru night
and hasnt had us up thru night in months not since he was 6 weeks old
he is a whopping 17 1/2 lbs now
he has the most gorgeous blu eyes
and he has just started to giggle
we hope to be able to keep up to date with you all from now on
has anybody heard any news from hayely(langton) has she had her twins yet??

Charlie - Kieran is gorgeous!!!

I will post 3 month piccies of Isabella next week.

Well after another screaming fit...I called the midwife to come over and take a look at Isabella...I was afraid she was developing colic late. Turns out she is getting her first tooth!!??!!!! Top right one is coming in! I called my bil (he is a dentist) and he also confirmed it is possible for a little one as young as 3 months to start getting in teeth. We also found out today Isabella can hold the bottle by herself for more than a minute. The midwife was amazed.

I am exhausted...my nerves are shot from the crying/screaming...need a glass of redwine (one advantage to not BFing).

wow that is young for holding her own bottle isnt it
kieran has only just started to realise he has hands
he does hold my boobies sometimes but has only just in last few days began holding things for a bit
as for teething i think that can come anytime some babies are born with teeth
lieran has just started teething too although we only get the occasional scream so far
be sure to put ya pics of bella up soon

Hi all!

Just a quick note to say goodbye for a week! We're off for our first family holiday to Tenerife - eek! Hope he behaves himself on the plane!!!!! Can't wait for all those "firsts" though (first beach, first paddle, first swimming pants etc!).

RE: teeth - my Mum told me about a herbal remedy - sachets thta you rub on the gums called ....... and wights - typical she couldn't remember the whole thing but she swears by it. My nephew is now a year old and it's got him through all his teeth. Sorry - that isn't much help!!!

Ohhh..Isabella doesn't hold the bottle like a 6 month old but when I feed her she holds onto the bottle and then I let go of the bottle and she can hold it herself for about 30 seconds. She still has the jerky movements and swats at things like a drunken sailor..don't want to give the wrong impression.

Tomorrow I must take her to the doctors with me (my ugly vericose veins) and I am terrified she will start crying during the appointment...I hope she sleeps through it..she is usually a trooper. We are off to the apotheke today to get some homeopathic teething remedy...but she is sleeping really good - went to bed at 10 last night and is still in bed

My mom said she put whisky on my gums

Hi everyone...

Wow! I love reading what everyone's babies are doing...especially cos Lucy is younger, I get to see what to look forward to.

Lucy is still all over the shop regarding sleeping - some days she'll practically sleep almost 20 hours in total, and others she doesn't sleep much.

For the bubs that sleep really long at night, what is their sleep/wake pattern like in the day? Cos the nurses etc. say that they should be awake 1 - 1.5 hours in between sleeps, but this means they would be asleep a lot of they also sleep 12 hours at night! Tracii - how many sleeps does Isabella have in the day, and how long are they?

We are off on our first family holiday tomorrow...just driving down the south coast, so should be good. The house is air conditioned which makes me happy. All you guys are in winter, but in summer, I never stop worrying whether she is too hot. So in this house we have booked, I don't have to worry about that...in fact...I want it to be hot cos the house is right on the beach!!!

Kristi - I really want some DH time. We have had a bit, but this is his first time he could have off work, so am trying to make the most of it. Am just now getting confident enough to leave Lucy with my mum, but still a little cautious.

Bella, your drive down the coast sounds fabulous! (I say that after an exhausting evening and I just put the babies to bed) Have a great time!!

I'm finding out what Bella was talking about. Four nights in a row my guys slept 10 hours straight without waking up to eat. The downside to that is then they don't take their 3 hour nap in the afternoon like I'm used to. They take about 3 short little 1/2 hour naps throughout the day and that's it. And they aren't doing it at the same time. So I'm not getting any break during the day hours.

Tracii, that was funny what you said about the whiskey. Made me laugh! You are the first of us to have their little one have a tooth coming through. Holy cow...I thought we were just pregnant...now we're talking about teeth!!??

Bella - My little one is like Kristi's...she sleeps great at night but during the day she has about 3 - 45 minute naps. I try to get her one big nap during the day..but she slept incredibly last night..she did not sleep at all yesterday..I mean nothing...I was at the hospital to get my veins checked and everyone kept oohhing and ahhhing over Isabella she couldn't sleep..so anyway I put her down at 5pm..she slept until 7pm...then until 3am (at which time I woke her so she could eat) and she is still sleeping...poor thing must have been exhausted. I also try to get her as much fresh air as possible every day (depending on the weather). Tooth is definitely coming in...I rub homeopathic gel on her gum and give her these little round ball things (also homeopathic) seems to do the trick.

My mom will fly out to take care of Isabella during my vein operation. I am having both legs done. THe doctor was amazed that someone my age could have 80 year old legs. Not only are they totally ugly but they are starting to really hurt and I am terrified of thrombosis. So on May 2 I go in. I can't believe Isabella will be almost 6 months old at this time!

Also Isabella rolled over twice yesterday. She is also starting to laugh out loud...she laughs when I sing and dance. She also loves patty-cake. I have really fallen in love with her..more and more everyday.

Hi Ladies!!

Hmm, interesting advice/commentary on your babes sleeping through the night with less daytime naps. It doesn't surprise me, but I'm trying to firgure out if we should be waking Hendricks up from naps so that he doesn't sleep so long. He takes a 30 minute nap in the morning, but then he is usually down for 2-3 hours straight in the afternoon. Since he is teething so much, we tried giving him Tylenol before bed last night, and then at 3am when he woke up to eat. The rest of the time he slept straight through which is unusual because we normally have to settle him 3-4 times.

Here's an interesting thing too... Hendricks is NOT rolling over yet, but somehow manages to completely turn around in his crib at night. His head starts out at the east end, and when he wakes to eat, its at the west end. A 180 degree turn.

Hmmm, he never does this when he's playing. It's very weird to go in a find him "backwards" from how we laid him down.

I can't believe how big he is. He's outgrowing many of his 6 month clothes and is wearing mostly 9 month clothes. Geez, I wish I could keep buying myself a new wardrobe every couple of months

I'll be posting some new pictures soon. Hope to see more of your babes!
