Here is another pain question!! Starting ICSI in about a week and I want to know a couple of things...
As the follicles and eggs develop over the two week stim period how bad is the discomfort and bloating?? Can you take a water pill or something to control the bloating??
Has anybody experienced any pain or awareness during the ER??
How is the recovery period after ER?? I've heard people say they were in pain and then just the opposite.
How bad is the bloating and does it go away after the ER since you aren't taking the stims anymore??
Hi there ! I have an answer to your question coz i just went thro that. I had my first IVF , and waiting for the 2ww period. For me the first week of the stimulation was ok...quite normal . But the second week started the trouble . My ultrasound always showed enlarged ovaries ....and i felt the same way .....something waiting to burst . I felt bloated and had difficulty in walking . I was waiting for the time when all those 18 follicles burst out of my ovaries. I was comfortable after a day or two after EG .
Hope your stimulation days go fine. Best of luck .......

The discomfort i had with stims varied some by the cycle, and how many follicles were growing. But, for some strange reason, i was most uncomfortable my first cycle... where i had the fewest eggs.... don't know if that was just my body getting used to my ovaries being large?? In general, it is uncomfortable, but usually not REALLY painful. Most women seem to have the bloating. I haven't taken anything for it... i just wait it out.
As for the ER... I have not been aware during my ERs. As for post-ER discomfort... i was uncomfortable the rest of the day, but by the next morning was back to how i felt while stimming... meaning i was up and around, just still felt bloated and a little uncomfortable. Those symptoms decrease for me over a few days.
Anyway, hope this was helpful... Good luck!!!!

I'm on day 12 of my stimulation and it's now starting to get uncomfortable. I had a scan this morning and have about 22 follicles ranging from small to 14mm. I was hoping that the collection would be on Thursday but now it's looking like they want to wait until the weekend. It's not painful as such more like a nagging ache which is weird when no one around you knows whats going on - I feel like I'm stooping over a bit like an old women!
Good luck with the ICSI!
For me, I started getting uncomfortable around Day 10 - very bloated and had a feeling like you could feel the heaviness of your ovaries with every step you take. Unfortunately, I had the feeling for about a week after egg retrieval. It took a while for the enlarged ovaries to go back to normal size. I wish someone had told me that upfront on my first cycle. Good Luck!!!
