Help please re testing

Hi I have just had a blood test and a positive result from the clinic 12 days after e/t. I have now carried out a home it test (so I could keep the stick!!! I know) and it showed negative. How can this happen?? could I have tested to early for urine but does blood give a more accurate result??? Please help has this happened to anyone else before. Thanks Lisa xx

Hi Lisa you are pregnant!!! the blood test says so and so you are, don't worry about the hpt if your concerned ring the clinic. congrats and chill out Christmas has come early!! Big hugs Aly x

Congratulations Lisa Thats Great news. I think its pretty common to have positive blood test but not the home pg kit, my clinic tell you not to home test for that reason. Am so happy for you Wendy

Hi Lisa, I am soooo pleased to see a positive result at last. The OCBs deserve some good news. I am no expert re testing but I know that my clinic tell you not to do a HPT until 14 days after egg transfer as if you do one before this date it is inaccurate. You said in your post that your blood test has been done 12 days after ET so this must provide a more accurate result. I'm pretty sure if you do another HPT in 2 or 3 days it will be show a big fat positive !!! So congratulations to you and dh and as the other posts say relax and enjoy the moment !! Love Julie xx

Hi Lisa Fantastic news, congratulations, did you get a scan date? Don't worry about the HPT its to early on day 12 for a HPT to work, my clinic does s blood test on day 12 and they specifically tell you DO NOT DO A HPT. The HPT will give a positive reading in 3-5 days its all to do with when the embies implanted, there can be a variation on the days for this. Well done. Best wishes Vicki B

Hi Lisa Fantastic news!!! I knew you had great embies as one got to 7-cell and the other got to 5-cell on day 2, didn't it? Well done. I agree with the others. my clinic does blood tests on day 12 and specifically tells you not to do an hpt "as these are not reliable at this early stage" !! So there you go. thank god, is all I can say that one of us has finally got a BFP!! do you know what your reading was? sometimes you can tell by the hcg levels whether it could be twins. your experience has made me doubly determined not to do a hpt before I go up on saturday. Was this your second go or the third one? When is your first scan? Did you have any symptoms? Now you get to join Bel and co ont he other side!!! beckym xxx

congratulations lisa!!! you CANT get a blood test wrong! so dont worry, hpt dont always read until thees enough hcg in your urine. enjoy the next 8 months, lots of love to the mummy and daddy to be! kathryn x

WOW everyone thanks so much. Rang the clinic this morning they said that their test was more accurate and that I got a good strong reading of 200. To answer questions ttc 7 years, zolidex injections 6 months, clomid 6 months, gonal f 3 months, 1 failed ivf then my first ever pos result. That was why I wanted to do my own test. Symptoms are sore boobs and tummy pain which was why I was so sure it would be neg. The pain could still be from e/c as I was awake throughout. My first scan is the 4th December, so a little while to wait, just praying everything will be okay. Thanks again and hopefully more positives are to come ++++ Love Lisa xx
