Effects of Lupron

Did anyone else have extreme side effects from Lupron?
I am on day 11 of 5cc's of Lupron - here are my symptoms

1. Extreme joint pain - sometimes hurts getting out of bed
2. severe breast tenderness -wakes me up at night - can't sleep on sides
3. bad headaches

minor but still annoying - moodiness

I haven't started my stim's yet - but the Lupron alone is killing me. The joint pain worries me as I'm in pain all the time - my joints just ache.

I get nervous when I read on-line about this drug........

Thoughts anyone? or anyone suffer the same w/Lupron?

i got really moody on Lupron, really crabby and tired. I didn't get the headaches but I know that is a side effect. I also had extreme breast tenderness, which went away when AF came. But I am now on Stims. with only 2.5 units of lupron and feeling better. I haven't heard anything about joint pain. But if it continues I would contact your RE. Good luck, hope things subside.

Hi Hopeful! This is my second round of IVF and second time taking Lupron. I hate it! I have the joint pain. Sometimes in my arms and legs. It's really weird. In my arms, I feel it around my elbow. I was wondering if I was lifting too much or something. But since I feel it the second time around I definitely think it has something to do with the Lupron. I am also very moody. More emotional than anything. I cry very easily now.

I am on my second day of stims and I am having the worst headaches. I can't even bend over because it feels like I'm going to pass out. That's how bad they are. I have cut back the Lupron to 5 units so that's a relief. But I just read that a side effect of my stims are also headaches. So now it could be that both are making me have headaches.

I had something weird happen to me last night. I couldn't sleep at all. I kept hearing things. My DH didn't hear anything. I thought I was going crazy. Every time I fell asleep I would wake up to the same noise. It started freaking me out when DH wasn't hearing it. But then I thought maybe he just sleeps harder. I was in tears this morning because I was so tired from the lack of sleep. I was also crying because I thought maybe the medication was making me hear things. I'm just an emotional wreck right now. I'm praying that it's not the meds. I didn't have this problem last time with the meds.

I hope you start to feel better soon. Just remember it's not forever. The meds stop and the symptoms do go away. Keep your head up. It will get better. Once you see your bundle of joy, you'll know that every headache, swollen breast and mood change was all worth it!

how long were you on lupron before symptoms?
I started my first lupron last night and no symptoms yet. I'm only taking 10 (ccs? up to the 10 line anyways) is that normal? how much is everyone else taking? I had some itchiness around the injection site but only for a couple hours if that.

Hmmm, if I remember correctly the first symptom I felt was the heachaches and that was probably 3 or 4 days after I started.

I started taking 20 (or was it 30)...I forgot. Forgetfullness is also a symptom. Now with the stimms I only take 5cc of Lupron. So 10 sounds about right to start off with. With 10cc you may not feel any symptoms at all. Hope you dont.

I had the itchness when I was taking the larger amount. I dont feel it at
all now that I have dropped down to 5cc.

I'm doing my 2nd IVF and started Lupron last Friday. I'm taking 10 units. I didn't do Lupron with the 1st IVF but did take it with my IUI's. I am getting hot flashes, I couldn't sleep last night and I'm getting sad/depressed just reading the threads on this board. Another poster mentioned forgetfulness which I never thougt of as a side effect, but this morning I was on the phone with a CSR and she asked me for my phone number and I couldn't remember it! I started AF yesterday and I'm so freakin bloated.

I'm glad I found this thread cuz I thought I was going nuts!

Nope, you're not going nuts. Just one of the many symptoms of Lupron. I forgot a lot of things while using is. I was a mess. It does go away. So be patient and keep your head up. It gets better. And when you get pregnant, it would have all been worth it.
