Treatment on NHS

Post by Nicky Dean »

Just wondering if anyone who has gone down the NHS route with IVF and has had probs ringing up for treatment.
My story is i'm 36 waiting 3 well nearly 4 years on this list,my tubes are blocked and have cysts on my ovaries, ive had some health probs in the spring this year when we should of started but i was put back while i got stronger, anyway i got my period yesterday, was told to ring the clinic and they informed me that they couldnt accept me for treatment and when i get my period next month to ring in again, only my period is not normall and i can go every 6 wks which will take me into jan, i am so upset about this and havent taken it very well, i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, does anyone know how it works, do they only have so many places and is it like ringing the dr's 1st come 1st serve.

I just think, all it tells me is that the NHS has a lot to answer for, not informing us with the right info, its not as if i can go private, because of a health prob they wont treat me, not that i have the cash.
Sorry for ramblin, but i'm gona call back and ask them to explain it to me as i feel like i'm getting the short straw
All the best to everyone
Nicky xx

Treatment on NHS

Hi Nicky

Not much help but thought Id let you know my clinic only takes on so many cycles at a time and say they cannot guarantee you can start when you want-and this is PRIVATE (we are not eligible for NHS where we live so am now very skint!)

Its so unfair but on the +ve side if they took on everybody all the time they would not cope and the quality of care would drop......

Have not helped you at all but just wanted you to know you are not alone.
Good luck
Sarah
xx

Hi Kathryn & Sarah

Thank you both for your reply's it does help because ive managed to look at it in a different way, even though i'm still so mad, i just hope that next month is my month (early christmas pressie).
Anyway my BP has come down so maybe its for the best that i get that under control, i also understand that we are lucky to get this on NHS,but it would be nice if once a while they would be honest with you every step of the way.

Hope you are OK Kathryn, did you get my e-mail xx
Love to all
Nicky
