1st IVF Transfer on 2/10/07

Post by want2bpreg »

I had my first IVF embryo transfer on Saturday (2/10/07) and wondered if there's anyone out there that can share their experience if they are going through a similar time frame? Here are my details:

- Out of 12 eggs, 7 mature eggs were used
- ICSI was performed on all 7
- 4 of the 7 fertilized
- 1 of the 4 had too many nuclei and was not used
- The remaining 3 were grade B eggs and all 3 were transfered.
- Assisted Hatching used

I am 32, DH is 36
I have been on bed rest since the transfer and only getting up to use the bathroom, eat and shower.

Today I have cramps (this is day 3). From what I'm reading, this is normal. Honestly, it feels more like gas than anything

I don't have sore breasts. I am taking progesterone injections once per day - so it feels like a wrecking ball hit both of my butt cheeks

One thing - my back is sore. I'm guessing this is from the bed rest. I'll be on bed rest for 2 more days for a total of 5.

Just looking for a support net. The TWW is so hard and I'm only on day 3! My pregnancy test is scheduled for 2/21/07 (next Wednesday!!). I pray every second of every day that I'm pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy with healthy baby(ies).

I'll pray for all of you too!

Have a good day,
Well hello there! I had my transfer on Feb 9th and my pregnancy test is also on the 21st!! I hear you with the 2WW, its killing me. I had 7 total eggs. ICSI on 5, only two made it that were tranfered, a grade A & B.
Im not feeling any different, except like you said, "my butt is killing me"
I just wish the time would go faster.

Good luck to you

I had my transfer on the 7th as well but can't test until the 20th due to the Presidents Day holiday. I had 7 eggs retrieved they did ICSI on all of them and 4 fertilized. Through a lab error three of the four were thrown away so there was only one to transfer -a grade 2 7 celled embie. I am praying that it holds on! I too have been crampy on and off, but they say that is normal. Other than that I have no symptoms except for sore boobs! Guess that is from the PIO shots. I am going crazy with the wait!!!! I am trying to take it easy and not think too much about it but that is sooooo hard to do! What is everyone else feeling?

Hi Ladies!
Yippee - I'm so excited I have found people that will be on the TWW with me. I have been logging everything to share. Here are my symptoms so far - and today I must say - I am SO irritable :x ! I will keep posting them and checking on you guys. My husband is being supportive, but it's nice to talk to others that are going through the same thing. Major storms of baby dust and sticky thoughts to ALL OF YOU. Here is my daily log so far:

Saturday
-Embryo transfer – 3 embies, 4 cell, grade B
-Bed rest (up to go to bathroom and eat)
-No symptoms
-Meds: folic acid, baby aspirin, 2mL/progesterone shot in hip, PrimaCare One prenatal vitamin, Cipro, Expecta, steroid

Sunday
-Bed rest (up to go to bathroom and eat)
-No symptoms
-Meds: folic acid, baby aspirin, 2mL/progesterone shot in hip, PrimaCare One prenatal vitamin, Cipro, Expecta

Monday
-Bed rest (up to go to bathroom and eat)
-Cramping, feels like AF cramps and gas. In the evening one bout of cramps that made my legs ache as well.
-Back ache (probably from bed rest – maybe we should buy a new mattress!)
-Meds: folic acid, baby aspirin, 2mL/progesterone shot in hip, PrimaCare One prenatal vitamin, Expecta

Tuesday
-Bed rest (up to go to bathroom and eat)
-Cramping – more constant than yesterday; feels like AF cramps and like I have to have a bowel movement (which is a common feeling for me with AF cramps). Really feels like period is coming. Lasted from the morning to early afternoon.
-Back ache
-This morning, I was praying for the IVF to be a success and started to cry a little. Kind of emotional. After I cried, I was totally fine.
-I don’t want to jinx anything, but I have a GREAT feeling today that I really could be pregnant! I can’t wait until 2/21/07 for the doctor to test me.
-Just a tiny bit of creamy white (with a light peachy tinge) of discharge when I went to the bathroom a couple of times and wiped. Not a lot though.
-Meds: folic acid, baby aspirin, 2mL/progesterone shot in hip, Expecta

Wednesday (Happy Valentine’s Day!)
-Bed rest most of the day but I’m doing a little more today because I have to go to work tomorrow. Made breakfast/lunch, up to go to bathroom and eat.
-Some cramping – seems less constant than yesterday; feels like AF cramps
-Emotional. Crying over little things – mostly I think I’m just worried that the end result won’t be what I want it to be. Also, I was carrying a breakfast tray with my laptop on it to the bedroom and it hit the wall and then my stomach – so that had me worried!
-Also, every little thing is irritating me today!
-The TWW seems like an eternity away!
-Meds: folic acid, baby aspirin, 2mL/progesterone shot in hip, Expecta, PrimaCare One prenatal vitamin
Hi!

Hi Everyone!
It sounds like a lot of us are at pretty much the same point with our cycles. My transfer was yesterday (the 13th) and so far I'm not feeling anything. Did any of you guys have spotting after the actual procedure? I didn't but I heard that's very normal.
Well anyway, I wish all of you the very best of luck. It's so nice to have people to talk to during this process, especially when they are at the exact same point.

I remember being on my 2WW. I was miserable and not feeling very positive. Needless to say I just gave birth to twin boys 12 days ago. The time goes sooo fast once you get a BFP. I hope you all are blessed w/ beautiful babies. Enjoy every minute of the pregnancy. If you blink your eyes you will miss it. Good luck to you all and Happy Valentines Day.

Post by bnb »

holy moly!
I'm new to this but i thought it was only 1 day of bed rest.
is there a reason your RE wants you in bed for 5 days?

Hi GL,
The RE said 3-5 days bed rest. But I work in a hospital and walk all day, especially a lot of flights of stairs. DH and I just wanted to do the full 5 days to say we did everything we could. I would be really nervous with as much walking and stairs I climb every day at work to go back to early. If I had a desk job, I would have just done 3 days bed rest (the minimum recommended by my RE).

Kabillion,
CONGRATULATIONS on your twinnies! I love that you posted your first IVF witha BFP - it's so encouraging! :P

Have a great day everyone!

It sounds like there are quite a few of us on very similar cycles. I had my ET on 9 February (16 retrieved/4 transferred), and I go in on the 20th for my beta. I too have had off and on cramping, nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, and low back pain - but know that most of it can be caused from the P shots (bruises on both cheeks of bum!), so I am trying not to read too much into anything (but of course, hoping for the best!).

I would love to do a POAS prior to my office beta, but won't let myself as it won't help anything - this is all out of my hands.

Nice to hear of others going through the same thing at the same time.

I wish you all much luck!

Hi Ladies,

I too am trying my hardest to not go out and buy a home test. I only have until the 21st for my beta test. Ive been feeling the past few nights like AF is coming, she hasent showed her ugly face yet! But when the morning comes, all signs ( stomach and back) are gone. I am feeling very emotional though, crying at the drop of a hat. This 2WW is killing me. As hard as you try to put it out of you mind, Its always there!! Good luck to us all, I will pray for you ladies.
