Assisted Hatching Question

I had my first transfer yesterday. We had 8 eggs, 3 traditional IVF did not survive and 5 done with ICSI in which 4 survived. We transfered 3. My Dr checkmarked that the eggs were fertilized by ICSI and assisted hatching was used. I had a two day transfer (retrieval Tuesday and transfer Thursday). Is that possible? I thought the embryo's had to be a five days old to perform assisted hatching. Yes?

One last question... we had 4 good embryos and decided to transfer three. What would our Dr have done with the 4th, frozen it or discarded it? I was going to have our embryos frozen and put down the fee, but I'm not sure if they can or would freeze one.

im also an assisted hatching lady...(crusty shells)..i had it on my 3 day embies i dont think it matter when they do this as long as it is done just before transfer, the first time i had this done i was worried thet my babies could fall out of the shell befoer they where ready so i asked the embie sitter...not the case the small hole thats made is very small but will help your embies to hatch from the shell with out too much effort once they reach the right stage.... i hope this helps

as for your little one i would call yoru clinic and ask what they did with your other embie my clinic would have frozen 1 embie but they said they wernt very good so we transfered all 3 of ours....

Thanks so much for your help! I intend to ask about the 4th embryo. I am not sure whether they would freeze just one or not.
