sniffing problems (for downregulation)....HELP!!!

hi everyone

i'm on day 15 of my downreggging with a nasal spray....everything has gone good so far and i have had my require withdrawal bleed.

i have been told that if i sneeze immediately after taking the spray to take it again...well i took it tonight and sneezed straight after (for the first time!)...so i sniffed again and sneezed again straight after....nothing ever came down (sorry if TMI) but surely i cant take it again???? or should i??

any ideas anyone???? pleeeeease help?

ps - bless my dh if i have overdosed....i'm bad enough with my normal dose, let alone double the dose!!

are you taking synaral if so that happened to me on my first ivf and i repeated it three times but if your really worried i would contact the clinic if they have an out of hours number but i think missing one dose would be ok but i wouldnt swear to it

now youve said that ive taken it again, which means ive taken it 3x too....i got that nasty taste with this one but didnt really with the others so hopefully ive made the right choice...thank you soo so much for replying!!!

as you know, i am due to start this on 5th march so no real experience but seen the nurse today who said not to sniff mo than 2 x if you sneeze. Call ur out of hours nurse honey!!!

HOw many more days of sniffs do u have left??

They have just said to me usually its for 14 days u sniff!!

congrats on getting your dates!! its so great when you actually have a date to look forward to!

anyway, no more than 2x, huh? ooppss....3x it was for me tonight....ah well, its done now....i guess its not like i can get OHSS or UHSS (under-hyper stimulation??! ) for that matter....once my ovaries have stopped, they have stopped surely?! hhmmmm...definitely one to ask on tuesday.

i did phone the hospital and they had an answer phone message which said you can get in touch with the on call emergency doctor but i figured its not really an emergency...then it said you can leave a message that the nurse will pick up saturday or sunday but i figured by then it would be too late anyway so i just took some more sniffs....

ooohhh, the troubles and panics we have with this just to make sure we're doing it right!!!

i still have 6 days left till i start stimms but i actually carry on sniffing throughout my stimms but just at a lower dose (2 sniffs a day rather than 4 sniffs a day)...so altogether i'm sniffing for another 2.5-3 weeks yet!!

do you just sniff for 14 days and then stop??

it sounds as if you are on the same as me i also sniff right through to my last injection but i tend to find i feel a bit better when i start stimming i think that my dh would dusagree im a bit worried about this course though as im on the higher dose so hopfully they can get more eggs out of me sorry for ranting on i hope that all is well with you

karina....hahah...(not sure that dh would agree with that)...i'm already snappy, god knows what i'll be like when i start stimms! but on a more serious note, i really hope this one does the trick for you...dont ever worry about ranting, thats what we're here for!!! thanks for putting my mind at rest!

nicky - dont worry about it...there is an awful lot to take in isnt there...i'm sure they tell you when you start!

hi SHantala - sorry to hear about your sneezing fit - it makes my nose itch but so far luckily no sneezing! I have to take Synarel combined with stim injections right up to EC as the Synarel prevents ovulation as the eggs are maturing.

angie - hi...thanks for explaining that, it all makes 10x more sense now!! glad i'm not the only one that sniffs right up till EC...although i'm not sure whether my sniffers will last me until EC to be honest...how long are you taking yours altogether??

My little bottle has enough for 30 days - 2 sniffs a day and I started on 31/1 so guess it depends when EC is - last time I stimmed for 14 days ! (usually most go for 8 to 12 days) . THey are fine - 2nd time round I feel like a pro and don't even leave a mark on my stomach. When do you start jabbin'?

oh glad things are going well for you...i sniff 4x a day so my bottle only lasts 15 days but i have 2...nearly out on the first one though so will have to start the second one soon...and still have just over 2 weeks till expected EC (if everything goes to plan) so looks like another £80 for me then!!

i start jabbing on thursday....eek! you might just have to take a trip to the UK to do mine if you're the pro now! (you dont mind, do you?)

Oops, sorry your sneezing gave you a scare! I agree with you, I don't think anything bad can happen if you take a double dose of down regging meds... do try to contact your clinic, but if it's impossible, have you thought about calling a pharmacist? They could be even more qualified to answer your question, as they are the one who are supposed to know the most about how to take meds...

Keep us posted; I hope you don't sprout a third head during the night! Aaaawwww just kidding! *hugs*

sophie - you crack me up...luckily no extra heads!! did have another nightmare this morning though when i got up to take my morning sniff...i was slightly bunged up so couldnt feel the second sniff so did that again....i'll definitely have to try and call the clinic today i think....

UPDATE: i called the clinic today and left a message as my left nostril was all blocked up this morning so i didnt feel the sniff in that...took it again but still didnt feel it...a nurse called back straight away (she was brilliant!)...

she said that as i've had my withdrawal bleed and as i've had downregging symptoms i should be fine...she said my nose is probably not blocked but it just feels like it as my nose is not used to the spray...

about the sneezing...she said that if i sneeze within the first minute to take it again...and if i sneeze again within the first minute to do it again...so i am ok with having sniffed 3x yesterday eve!! phew...

just thought i would update you in case this happens to any of you in the future...and nicky as i know you worry a lot!!
