Nimble, there's so much advice out there that it's very hard to know what to heed and what not. And for some reason many people like to be experts and give all sorts of opinions or hear-say as facts.... Tough to navigate all that :) Anyhow, my acupuncturist has completed studies in both Western and Chinese medicine, so I figured we might take her word for it, as she has the traditional medical facts plus extensive knowledge of Chinese herbology.

I know what you say about DH - not many guys are into the idea of drinking green tea I guess :D Glad to hear that yours is on board with most things anyway - some guys don't seem to think that there's anything THEY can do. I must be a terrible tyrant because when I heard that about green tea, I cracked the whip right away  But DH drinks a lot of tea anyway so he didn't mind - and neither did he mind the ginseng that my acupuncturist sent him.

Oh, the things we all do for parenthood...

Welcome Marcia and Chvonne!

Hi Everyone
Hope you all had a great Valentines Day. My DH is soooo swweet he gave me a duplicate wedding band to go on the other side of my engagment ring. He put it on a ribbon on my little dog named Shy! Too Cute:
I hope everyone in the MidWest and Northeast USA are staying warm and being careful with all the snow! Do a snow angel for me! I used to live in the MidWest and now I am in the South with no snow.

Annag: I am so sorry to hear about the polyp.Sometimes this dream of having a baby is an uphill battle and it seems like there is a problem at every corner.

Shantala: I totally understand what you are saying about the cramps and headache. I would think the headache could be caused by the hormones. After I finished my BCP's I had the worst cramps I also called in sick. Get a heating pad and a good book and cuddle in bed and rest!

Bigwhitehappy: Thanks for welcoming me back... here we go again!! yeah I was impressed by my clinic but when the mistake happened during the e/c they had no choice but to admit it. The doctor was so shocked by the mistake I dont think he had the sense about him to lie. Also in my clinic you see all the IVF doctors so it was not my own dr doing the e/c. This time I have been assured that my dr will be there every step of the way!Congrats on losing weight!!! WOO HOOOO! 4 more to go you can do it!

Nicola: Sorry I meant to type AF not BFP! You are doing such an awesome job on the site! THANKS By the way Im in Charlotte North Carolina and I am a Real Estate Agent.

Nims: Glad to hear you had a nice Vday. I myself had a few glasses of wine! I was so tired today! I am not as young as I used to be!!

Jill: (jstrandlund) Welcome back from your trip where did you go? Somewhere warm I hope. I went college in North Dakota so I know the kind of joyous cold you are dealing with right now! Stay Warm and good luck on the sono!

Steph(Pep): 2 more days!!! Good luck and stay positive!! I love Top Design! I DVR'd it and watched it this morning!

Hello to everyone else
Take Care All
XOXO

Nicolamark, the US is to look at the lining, so it is baseline of sorts.

Pep23, thank you!

Mandeeq, Raspberry tea is good to build up the lining, but after building the lining, you should stop using it until your second trimester because it can cause uterine contractions.

Hiya Marcia!!! Welcome here!!! Your'e in coventry, I have a friend who lives there!!!

I cant believe your have been ttc 9yrs, thats a long time, I am sure ur IVF will be your 1st and last like me!!!
I too have done, clomid and IUI...... we';ll do it together honey!!

Your dates r the same as mine, near enough. I am on day 2 today, having bloods done on day 4...... and down reg starts on 5th March!!!!

Anyway, welcome, hope we can so be best buddies!!!!
Hiya, thanks for such a nice welcome :D . I live in Walsgrave, where about does your friend live? I can't believe it's nearly 9yrs myself sice we start this TTC malarky lol, but it'll be 9yrs in June  . I've certainly learnt alot in that time I can tell you. Sorry you didn't get any success with your IUI's, I didn't even get to finish stimming on my 1st ever IUI cycle before they cancelled the cycle and said I should just go straight to IVF. That was deverstating for us, because the RE was so positive we'd need just one cycle on it and that would be it, we'd be pg and totally happy. Oh well, never mind, hopefully IVF is just what need like you say.

It'll be amazing having a buddy as this is our 1st ever IVF, and we're on the same dates it seems, and I wish you and hubby all the luck in the world hun :D . I'm on CD 4 now, and had my FSH/LH blood tests yesterday. Hubby has his SA test on Monday, Wednesday we get my Buserelin vials so I can take the injections for those, then on Thursday I'll be having my swabs taken that' be cd10 then, and start injecting to down reg on CD21. So that's the first bit, and I'll be having acupuncture inbeween all the appointments till the actual IVF cycle.

I hope everything goes well for you hun :D Image.

Marcia- Welcome!! I love all your snazzy graphics!! :) I hope that after all you and DH have been through over the past nine years IVF will do the trick for you!!

Well my first acu is today and I'm super excited!! I was supposed to start on Tuesday but it was canceled due to the weather. Speaking of, I have a question for those of you who have done acu. Do you usually leave a tip? I guess I was looking at this as more of a medical treatment since I'm doing it for fertility reasons and it's not like you would tip a doctor…but I was thinking this morning and it's more like a massage isn't it?? And you tip a masseuse…So I'm at a loss!! Let me know what you think so I don't spend the whole session obsessing over whether or not to slip him an extra $5!!

Only 2 more days until my Lupron starts ladies  ...IVF here I come!!!!!

Love-
Steph

Hello to you to Pep, I hope you've had a good day. Thanks for the message I had my first acu for this cycle. I like to have it when I'm having any treatment around Ov; but this is the first time I'm working on a programme as the clinic I go to specialise in doing treatment along-side IVF. So we're really excited as it did me the world of good with my cycles in the past. As as for leaving a tip, I don't. It's not the same as going out for a meal, and someone's gone out their way to look after you during your meal out. Theapists are doing a service to try and help heal you, I don't tip my doctor or RE, so that's how I look at it. We're spending enough money throughout all these appointments hun, use the money you'd spend tipping, for treating yourself when you're most going to need it.

I intend to get a few massages in at some point in the IVF part of things, and getting my nails done if I can stretch to it, or even extra acu sessions, and I think you should do the same to keep relaxed, you'll feel much better for it splashing out on yourself with something nice, but that's just my view anyway :) .

Welcome Marcia anh Chvonne!

Steph, I was wondering about the same thing before my acupuncture, but in the end it was easy to decide - the approach is, after all, very, very medical, so I treated it more like a visit to my doctor's than a massage appointment. So no, I didn't tip and it felt very natural.

Anna, so sorry to hear about this new development! Any news? I hope there's no need to operate. Have you had a hysteroscopy before, I don't remember? Just in case you haven't, I have, three times (two of them operative) and it really isn't a big deal, so in that sense there's no need to worry at all. But of course it might, just might, mess up your schedule. Oh, I have my fingers crossed for you!

Everyone else, take care!!
Hello Rae

How are you, having a good day? Sorry you didn't have any luck with the IUI's, good luck to you both now ImageImage.

Hi Nimble

How you doing? I've been doing the same, drinking lots of bottled still water, it's driving me mad going to the bathroom all the time though. You forget it'll make you wee more when we come up with these good ideas lol, but I'm on a countdown to my down regging as well. I've had a few coffees with a drop of Bailyes in it lol. I hope you have a good time on it.

Hi Girls, Happy Friday!

I finally dug myself out from the snow bank covered in ice that is our house. I am the new Laura Ingalls Wilder, only wilder, and armed to the nines with a whole new arsenal of crazy. (A little bit of crazy goes a long way, friends!)

So, I got a call at the office yesterday from the nurse with "my plan."

Oh my goody, goodness, suddenly everything is very real, real, real and that fat chunk of money that we took out of our home equity that is now sitting in our bank account has a very real and defined purpose. ( And here I was, dreaming of shoes and bags. No! "It puts the money in the IVF clinic," said with a menacing Buffalo Bill snarl.) Oh, yes. So, back to my call...

Imagine a falsetto singing "oH, My, gOd!"

Of course, I had to stay cool because I have a coworker. Oh, yes, a dreaded, shuffling, eavesdropping co-worker who is all too happy to talk publicly, loudly, constantly about HER IVF experience and about HER abortions, about her three rugrats and about HER opinions, (and, of course, to whom I would absolutely never tell ANYTHING of note about me...) I digress...

So, the call came, and not wanting to draw attention to myself I conduct a one-sided conversation with the nurse.

"Oh, yes! I am fine, how ARE you?" I ask as though I may be talking to say, a friend?!

"Really?" I ask, trying to act as though I am trying to act as though I care. All the while, smiling and furiously jotting down notes. (Imagine that falsetto again, Oh mY gOd!)

"We do? Well, that's fabulous!" I say. I can almost hear my coworker pressing her ear to a glass against the wall, straining to listen, perhaps chewing on her cuticle.

"O.k., then, I will look for that in the mail!" And I ring off, proud of my deception and so excited to have a plan!

(Ah, the intricate webs we weave...when at first we conspire to conceive.)

According to my plan, it looks like I will actually be an early April transfer. (I hope that you will allow me to remain in the March buddies, however, so that I can continue to draw inspiration and support from all of you.)

Steph, Lupron starts tomorrow? Wowsa, have fun with that! Please let me know absolutely everything. I have never even seen the needles, I don't know what to expect! I am on BCP now, so will AF visit me one more time? A stupid question, indeed! (We're friends here, right?) And how was acupuncture? I finally got a couple of appointments lined up for that and look forward to it. Did you decide the best practice on that little tipping issue?

Regarding the herbs and teas, my RE specifically asked what I was doing in this regard as though she thought against it. There is so much data to indicate additional success from homeopathic remedies, I am tempted to explore. I just don't know. I don't want to create a counter "productive" situation where I am thinning my blood and thinning the thinner. Yikes.

My DH is willing to drink EmergenC powdered vitamin drinks, but that is it. The boy doesn't even eat plants, any of them. Total carnivore, so gross. I eat very little non-plant food, so good! Because of this and because we have a motility/count situation that brought us to this point, at first I had to resist saying "Look, Jack, I am going to have to go through A LOT if we go to IVF, don't you think that you could be bothered to take a f*cking multivitamin a day to see if we can get that count up a bit?!" (In fact, I am not sure that I actually resisted saying this.) At which point he said, "I don't like big pills. They choke me up."

Rrrriiiggghhhtttt....................... (said with a Dr. Evil accent and a look of complete befuddlement. ) "And I don't like big needles, JACK!"

I love him though, he is awesome. I also tried to get him to drink less beer, come home earlier from work, and rake the lawn because it would increase our motility/count. He challenged me to find research to indicate that any of these things would increase count. I am still working on it although, now that we have a plan, our IVF train is leaving the station, JACK!

Happy weekend, I will drink a toast to those of you who are preggers and for those of you who almost are.

Love,
Coco

Hi ladies

There's so much of us and I'm new here, so I'll have to come back over the weekend and read up on what's been happening and what stages you're all at.

In the mean time here's more info on me

I'm 33 my birthday is 17th Jan, I've been married for 6 years,Image been with hubby for 15 years . We've had 5 m/c's and this is our very first IVF procedure.

I'm on a long Protocol so it'll look like this.

1) CD1, 13th Feb
AF's here
2) CD2, 14th Feb
Blood tests for FSH and LH, book CD10 swab appt.
3) CD7, 19th Feb
Hubby has SA test - (last one was May at 95mil  )

4) CD9, 21st Feb
Meds Buserelin meds issued
5) CD10, 22nd Feb
Vaginal Swabs booked for 8.45am
6) CD21, 5th March
Start :needleani: 0.5mls of Buserelin one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Continue until told to stop
7) CD28-30, 12th/14th March
AF should arrive within 7-10 days
8) Around now Hubby should be ready for his 2nd SA if needed they didn't say, but it's normally 2 weeks after the first one
9) CD1, should be 21st March
Baseline scan 8-9am
10) CD2, 22nd March
If scan from previous day is ok, Refresh on how they want me to take the 150iu Menopur :needleani: , do that for 8 days
11) CD9, 29th March
Follicle tracking scan
12) CD11, 31st March
2nd Follicle tracking - if eggs are not ready carry on with stims and scan the following week. If all is ok do E2, I'll be told when to have the final injection which will be the Hcg Trigger. I already have 5000iu of Pregnyl be taking 10000iu. I'll be told when to stop injecting the Buserelin
13) CD15, April 4th
I'll be admitted to the CRM for half the day for ER - hubby not allowed in when I'm under.
14) I'm going to start takinkg my herbal stuff Arnica to help with healing and good for strengthing and aiding body repair
15) CD17 - 18, April 6th or 7th
ET 2-3 days after ER

Then the 2ww begins with any luck if all goes according to plan, but it all depends on when theis cycle ends really. We should also find out if we're pg around just after hubby's birthday April 16th or just after. I started this cycle a few days later than predicted, so we won't get an answer for hubby's birthday. Instead he might get to see his embries on his birthday, which he's just as happy with lol.

I'm really excited now things have got going, I just hope this preperation cycle and the stims cycle are good :D .

Does that sound like the norm to you more experienced ladies :) ?

Hi ladies, and thank you all for making me feel welcome even though our journey didn't go as planned (for once it turned out even better :D ). I'm feeling OK, some nausea on and off but nothing too crazy. Bought sea bands and ginger capsules ;) Still having stomach problems, some of them a little bit scary - might be the progesterone? But I'll def. spare you the details...

Anyhow, no real reason to think anything's amiss. Will see my RE on Tue and hopefully we'll have a really strong HB at that time - or else we'll be in trouble.

Nicky
, good luck with the injections - I hope they look worse than they actually feel. I'm sure you'll be fine hon - but of course it's easy for me to say as I have no qualms about needles in general. Hopefully you'll be able to do a blastocyst transfer - my RE said it's absulutely preferable if everything looks good. Of course it's sometimes safer to opt for day 3 - but luckily the docs are able to help with the decision.

Coco, I'm sitting here laughing about your phone conversation  The things we do, indeed... And thanks for the toast - I feel like I could really use a nice drink but fr now other people's drinks will have to suffice... Have a great weekend!

Hey Marcia - it's true that we didn't have any luck with the IUIs but I'll take the natural BFP any day :D It's strange how all the disappointments disappear somewhere when there's finally some good news. I've had a 13th week miscarriage before, though, so of course I'm nervous about that. But otherwise I'm feeling pretty great!

Oh, we actually wrote at the same time... so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, thay must have been very hard . Good luck - hope IVF's the charm for you!

I think it's a great idea that you're going to do massages etc - anything that relaxes you and lets you enjoy life beyond needles!

Steph, Lupron tomorrow? Wow, here we go! Let us know how the kickoff went

Bridget Jones
, did you start downregging today?

And everyone else, have a great, relaxing weekend!
