Hi all

Is there anyone out there who has experience in using dhea before a cycle - as my consultant tells me it can help us over 40s who have trouble in producing eggs after stims due to low reserve!! Apparantley there is proof that dhea can help to increase numbers and help improve the quality of the eggs!! I am feeling very excited about this at the mo as I only discussed this with him today.

Anyone used this yet?

This is the nutritional supplements page of the physician's desk reference. It talks about the 'adrogenic' effects of dhea - I've always been taught that you want to minimize adrogens prior to an ivf cycle because of the decline in egg quality (this is why my RE told me he uses bcp's prior to a cycle - to less any of the adrogens in your body.) So, I'd definitely discuss it further with your doctor before trying it.

I was told that you had to take this for 4 months before a cycle before it peaks.
How long did you take it for - where are you from - How old are you - Did you get a BFP? Lots of questions I know but important to me - Thanks.

I ONLY TOOK IT FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS BEFORE. I WAS 36 WHEN I HAD THIS DONE , JUST TURNED 37 FEB. 3 I LIVE IN INDIANA. I HAD THE PROCEDURE DONE FIRST TIME JAN 24 GOT BETA ON 02/10/07 WAS 374 AGAIN ON 02/12/07 WAS 802.HAVE US DONE 02/28/07 HAD 4 GRADE A EGGS HAD 4 USED.
