frozen transfer

Post by germaine@charter.net »

Wednesday I had one frozen embryo transfered. The doctor told me I could come in this Thursday (8 days later) to do my pg test. For my fresh cycle I had a 2ww before the test. Does anyone know why the waiting time is different with a frozen transfer? This seems so soon to find out.

Not enough info to know why they changed it, but here's one possible answer:

Your fresh transfer may have been with early embryos (like day 2), and then your clinic may have matured the rest to blastocyst before freezing them. Common enough practice.

With more mature embryos in the FET, you would not need to wait as long before pregnancy test. The transfer of thawed blasts will usually have detectable hCG within 8 days (actually less), although I'd still consider that a little early for a final test. Occasionally, it does not appear until 10 days after.

I had a similar experience. I had 3 frozen transferred last Thurs (2/9) - my pg test is Saturday, 2/17. Mine were day 6 blasts, so I guess that's the reason for not having to wait as long.

GOOD LUCK!!!

janine,

Congrats to you - I see BFP for you from your FET. I'm so glad to hear positive news on an FET - my husband is a bit skeptical about it....

Resting and waiting - hoping round 2 does the trick :)

Earliest p test

Post by katrina1 »

Hi

I am new to the board. My frozen transfer is due in march, I am surprised to read the test can be earlier than two weeks. I am going to call my clinic to find out. Glad I joined now!

good luck to you all!

Clinics vary in their proficiency with FET, moreso than with fresh transfers. I know of clinics that are better with FET than with fresh, and others that have not had one FET success in years.

It's a good benchmark to use in chosing a clinic. You don't want to have to go through ovarian stimulation again if you don't have to.

Hi Katrina,

Welcome to the board and GOOD LUCk with your March transfer. I think the pg test date also depends on the stage of the embryo trasferred. Mine were Day 6 Blasts.

I got the news on Saturday that the FET worked!! BFP. Beta HcG levels are high and rising fast - the doctor mentioned I may be looking at twins. I'll find out 2/26.

Good luck!

Hi Janine,

I joined that new board this morning! I'm looking foward to having some people to talk to during all of this.

I've been reading your posts - hang in there and stay positive!! I'm sure all will be well with US. Good luck later today!!!

I thought things would get easier once you get the BFP, but a whole new world of worry starts up :)

Karen

Congratulations, great news! And maybe twins, wow! The 26th is my birthday so hopefully that is a good sign for you.
