oct/nov babies

Hello everyone!

Sorry it has been so long but finding 5 minutes to just sit on the computer for me is rather rare. I get the guilts and think i should be ironing or something instead!

It is incredible to read about all these babies growing up.It feels that i we have all been mothers for only 2 minutes but it is already 4 months for a lot of us. Sad in away as i love them when they are little but also so exciting as everyday Arabella has learnt something new.

She is now sleeping through from 7pm to 7 am everyday! Fab. She has a 2hr nap from 8am - 10am approx. then a lunch sleep of about 2hrs then a 30-45 min kip in the afternoon. You would think that with all those naps i would get lots done but obviously not htat organised

With the girls asking about bedding after swaddling. I tried Arabella in a sleepingbag but no joy so i have her in the feet to foot position in her cot with a sheet, cotton blanket and then with the cold nights a woolen blanket over the top. as all of this gets tucked in under her arms and then the mattress she can't pull the sheets over her head. For some reason this is a favourite pasttime?

I have also started her on solids. Baby rice for her morning tea and then again in the afternoon (before bed time feed). It is so sweet watching them learnign to eat. It has hit home that i ma now going to have to get a highchair. has anyone looked into these yet and any suggestions.

Amazing to hear that some of your bubs are teething. i am not sure about Arabella yet, lots of fist sucking but i think that is mostly due to hunger.

Charlie i am glad Richard has another job. Not the stress that you need when you are trying ot enjoy a new baby.

God i seem to have gone on and on. Sorry guys. Hope to hear a=fron you all soon.

sounds like everything is runnin like clockwork in your house
we also have kieran toe to foot of bed we keep room warm without it being hot and he usually just has a breathable blanket to keep him snug
funny to hear about hendricks turning around in his sleep!!!

maybe when we sleep our babies get up and do stuff without us knowing
its kierans baptism in 2 weeks
its so exciting its being done at the same church where we were married and were having a get together afterwards at the hotel where we had our reception
hubby thinks im planning another wedding!!!
just think if its to be our only child then we might as well do it properly
havent even thought about high chairs yet!!!!
dont think our little guy will be on solids for a while yet
im still b feeding and he is still growing and showing no signs of not being satisfied so for now he can makedo with milk

Hi all,

Two posts in two days - a record for me at the mo. In answer to your question Charlie, we are thinking about going back to see the clinic around June. I keep thinking baut those 4 embies in the deep freeze and figure the sooner the better.

Of course we will have to go on when my cycle starts again. Does it feel weird for all of you not having a period when everything revolved around them before?! Many of my friends have 2 under 2 so i figue if they can cope i can cope!

if anyone can explain how to post a piccie on photobucket let me know and i will try to get my very non techie brain around it.

Hi All-

Saraid- so good to hear from you. Can't wait to see pics. We too are starting to think about #2. We have five frosties waiting. I was thinking we would try again next January. If we are lucky the first try, then the two would be about 2 years apart. I think Jomae was thinking about doing an FET this March too.

C&R- How exciting to be planning Kieran's baptism. Have you ever heard the song "Find Your Wings" by Mark Harris? We played this song at Hendricks's baptism and everyone was in tears. Here is a link to the words:

Tracii - are your leg troubles the result of the pregnancy? In any event, hope you are doing ok! Isabella sounds like a very coordinated kid. Rolling over and holding her bottle... she'll probably be walking by 9 months! Good luck with that. ha ha ha

Cla and Bella - How were the trips? Give me the details so I can live vicariously

KristiA - Seems like the boys are finally on their way to giving you many nights of rest. Yippee! Yesterday Hendricks only took 3 half hour naps. But, he slept through the entire night for the first time. We didn't hear a peep from him from 7:30 to 6am. So, maybe the daytime naps are worth the trade-off for longer sleep at night.

Madiva - I had a thought about the sleeping separation. Maybe try putting him in his crib for the night and you sleep on the floor next to him. That way he gets used to his environment, you're still there to make sure he's ok, then slowly you can transition out of the room. Just a thought. We put Hendricks in his crib at 6 weeks because he was such a noisy sleeper that he kept us awake. It was VERY tough the first night. I kept going in to check on him (I still do) But, I think it was the best for all of us.

Julie, I'm still trying to figure out if the small naps are a good trade off for sleeping through the night. I got used to 3+ months of having 3 hours in the afternoon to do what I wanted. Seems like we should have a period of sleeping through the night and a long nap to help us mommy's adjust. ha ha.

I just tried giving them rice cereal for the first time. Tyler liked it. Brady wasn't too sure. They both ended up crying...maybe overly hungry and tired....but both fell asleep after maybe getting 1 tablespoon down them. It was fun to try anyway and I got some good pictures for their scrapbooks.

I can't wait to check out any updated pictures of your little ones on photobucket.

Hello all,

Charlie thanks for the photobucket tips. I ahve managed to get some photos of Arabella on there with no probs I hope it all goes well for Keiran's christening. We are planning to have Arabella's in August when my family are over from Oz.


Kristia trying to feed two boys solids at the same time is going ot be fun for you! I already cover the immediate area with her muslin as a bib does not contain all the rice that comes out of the mouth and then goes on the fist which normally then reaches for the nearest thing - namely her hair!

Julie thinking of number two as well. It is good to know i am not the only mad one. Do you have a gut instinct about what the next time will bring? Both Jake and i have this feeling it will be twin boys

Madiva hope your seperation anxiety is not too horrendous when you bite the bullet and pop Colin in his own room. I am thankful i put Arabella in her room from day one as i think i would have been useless at sleeping apart later on.

I have posted a piccie I took yesterday of Isabella. All our kids are so damn cute! I love seeing how they are growing so keep posting photos!

Isabella still sleeps in our room in a portable crib...although she has slept through the night since 7 weeks I somehow can't bare to put her in her own room...but she is going within the next couple of weeks.

Another child? To be honest I am not sure I could do it...we are getting much older (DH to be 50 this year!) and raising a child is much more demanding then I ever thought. We only had 1 embie so going through another round of IVF is definitely out of the question but we have discussed adopting and we may pursue this but right now my focus is Isabella.

Next week is our first round of immunizations. Any tips to make it go smoother?

Wow all the pics are beautiful. Isabella has some beautiful big blue eyes. Colin made 4 monts on the 20th (yesterday). Wow how times fly. I was telling the DH it felt like years being pg, but it only feels like days since Colin has come home. He is know 16lbs and very close to turning over. All he needs to do is put the arm up over his head and he will be over. He is so funny all he does is laugh and smile all day. Oh and he slept in his own bed for the past 2 nights. Proud of myself. Well, he is looking to play.

Julie and Saraid yep I've taken the plunge I'm due to have my FET around the 4th or 5th of March so heres hoping for a BFP.


Jacob almost 6 months now he got his first tooth a couple of days after he was 5 months and has almost popped his second one out . He crawls back wards with the occassional forward crawl. And twice out of the blue he's said mum. The time is just flying hes no longer the little babe we brought home hes looking more like a little bruiser and he's sp heavy to lug around I haven't had him officially weighed but hes just over 8 and a half kgs sorry don't know pounds no wonder I am having trouble with my arms and wrist.

Hi all..

Well, we're back from our trip I wish we could live there. The house was right on the ocean, and Lucy went to sleep listening to the sound of waves crashing against the rocks all night! It was so lovely and really sad that it had to end.

Thanks for all the replies re sleeps. Lucy sleeps quite a bit in the day still, and when we try and keep her up, she gets really tired, and sometimes grumpy. Really, if she is up that long she expects to be fed, which I can't really do with formula. How do you guys keep them occupied for so lung in the day?
(Tracii....sorry another question for you seeing as I know you are on bottles also...how many bottles does Isabella have every day? Lucy normally has 5, but sometimes I give her 6) Although today she didn't sleep much during the day. I am going to giver her another feed shortly and then put her down around 7.30pm - hopefully for the night??!!

Lucy has been in her own room since about 3 weeks old - she sleeps much better when I am not in the room with her for some reason. On some hot nights I bunk in her room just to keep an eye on the temperature. We also tried her in a summer sleeping bag while we were away for some of the day sleeps - it was OK, but she is still not able to grab things yet, so her hands are just annoying for her.

Lucy's sleep is pretty good, usually down around 8pm, feed around 3 or 4am, then up at around 7am, but to be honest, I am feeling very sleep deprived. I would really love a night of unbroken sleep, but that will never happen!

Starting mother's groups tomorrow - are any of you in a mother's group?

Hi Bella - Isabella usually has about 4 bottles per day..drinking about 170ml per bottle..but sometimes she drinks 200ml and 5 times per day. To be honest it all depends when she wakes in the morning..if she is early (ie. 7am) then she gets 5. Isabella is not a huge eater and still spits up alot. She is weighing in at 5.5kgs slowly gaining weight..I am hoping when she is on cereal next month she will gain weight quicker.

I have tried to get Isabella into bed before 10pm - but it never works somehow she has this internal clock. Basically she sleeps 10pm-7am without interruption. She hates going to bed. When I get the sleeping bag out she starts to cry even before I put her in it! Her movements are still shaky but you can see she is really concentrating on grabbing things.

I am curious also to what everyone does when their babies are up during the day. We try to get outside as much as possible so alot of our time is spent walking the dogs (with baby carrier) or taking a spin in the pram. Inside I play patty cake, play on the playmat thing, practice sitting up or rolling over, when she is calm I try to read to her (but this doesn't last but 1 minute!). Sometimes I just run out of ideas on what to do

Hi guys,

Traci We have suddenly had to become kids entertainers haven't we I sing nursery rhymes to Arabella that have actions, ie. Twinkle, Twinkle, Incy Wincy Spider, If your happy and you know it clap your hands etc. She seems to find these quite amusing and takes up about 1/2 an hour. I do have a bouncy chair that has an entertainment bar that lights up and plays music when she kicks her feet. She is quite happy in this for about 20 minutes, the playgym keeps her going and i also pop her on top of the kitchen table in her chair when i am cooking and she seems quite happy to watch me. I do just talk to her and tell her exactly what i am doing or sing along to a cd. I figure to get as much of my musoc on before i am stuck listening to the Wiggles all day( all aussies will know the Wiggles!). Hope this helps a little. The walking outside is great as well and supposedly if you point out things to them the whole time it helps their development. YOu might just feel a bit mad if people over hear you.

In regards to Immunisation tips, bring a bottle of feed with you as this can help soothe them if they totally freak after. I also had some Calpol(baby paracetemol) at home to give her that night before bed to help with any temp. she might have over night. Other than this if you stay calm when they actually give the injections hopefully Isabella will stay fairly calm and only shout a little bit Goodluck.

Madiva Well done on two nights in his own room! I can't believe he is already trying to turn over. Not long and he will be into everything. I have started to put Arabella in a play pen as i have a big garden which i will be looking after come spring and if she has started to crawl will need containing!


Jomae Goodluck for your FET i will be thinking of you and sending loads of sticky baby dust. Wow, Jacob is crawling already and he said mum. You must have been over the moon when he said mum.

Oh bum, Arabella is up. i will get back to all of you later. It is playtime.

Hi all,

so good to read what everyones babies are up to.

Tracii - i think Jessica's body clock is set on a similar setting to Isabella's, normally we put her to bed between 9.30 and 11pm depending on mood and feeds. Sometimes she will kick up a BIG fuss and then when we look at her she starts laughing and other times she is as good as gold. She normally had 4 or 5 feeds a day which can range from 120 up to 200 mls, she is now 12 lbs. Most nights jess also wakes up about 4am for a feed.

Bella - glad you had a good trip, hope your mothers group went well.

saraid- it is amazing how tiring entertaining children is, we are going to try jess in her door bouncer and see how that goes

Thanks for your well wishes I appreciate you thinking of me. yes it was quite a shock to hear him say it so clearly mind you he hasn't said mum like that again we hear it in the mornings when he wakes with a cry but he hasn't said it out of the blue again. I sing with jacob too he really enjoys it and laughs out loud when i shake my head about he has a thing about me moving my head up and down that cracks him up. hope you and Arabella are doing well i see you to are thinking of going back for a sibling for Arabella soon its a big decision isn't it we wanted our kids to be close in age so we figured the sooner we get started the better mind you i wasn't even considering going back until ds was in a good routine and a little easier to cope with the first 2and a half months was so hard. Anyway enough about me let us know when your going back it maybe this time youll have a little boy.
