Anyone here have unexplained infertility?

Post by boonie »

I know that alot of individual's experience this but I'm just so frustrated with it. It just upsets me that there is no medical reason why we can't get pregnant. And it frustrates me more when people ask me if there is anything wrong and than tell me to "just relax" The RE keeps telling me there's no reason why we can't conceive but after failed IUI's and one failed IVF, I'm just desperate.

i know exactly how you feel we to have unexplained infertility. Its so frustrating how everyone around me is getting pregant and im not why it is so unfair. Did we do something wrong am i a bad person is this why ? there are so many reason going through my head that are silly really.
We have had 4 tries of IUI and one ICSI/IVF we had a break for a year and a half due to docs advice he also said that we mite of fell naturally during this break as many woman do after all the drugs but no such luck . We are due to start natural IVF in April but just wish something would happen naturally before but im not very hopeful.
Good luck with everything just wanted you to know you are not alone

Boonie-
I can absolutely sympathize with you. My husband and I have been ttc for about 6yrs also and they can find nothing at all wrong. We have gone through 6 IUI's and each time they told us everything looked "beautiful", which made it all the more frustrating when they didn't work! I know exactly how you feel. Not that you want anything to be wrong with you or your hubby, but it would almost be easier to hear there was an actual problem! We are in the middle of our first IVF cycle. We did the transfer on Feb 13th and do HCG on the 26th. So, we are hoping this is it and trying to be positive, but as you know thats a alot easier said than done!
I also agree that probably the MOST frustrating thing is everyone's "opinion" on things you should do to get pregnant. Like ~ "just relax" and "just adopt, then you'll get pregnant". I just don't think people realize just how insensitive they are actually being!
I know it's also hard to find people with unexplained infertility. Just wanted to let you know I"m with ya!

Unexplained

Nickster, Boonie and Mom

Hiya

I know you posted a while back but we also have unexplained infertility. Apparently my husband has super-sperm and I'm working right and my bits look 'accommodating'! Its just so frustrating that we cant have what we would most dearly love to have

I've been married a year and half and been ttc for around 4 years. I get sick to death of the 'when are you going to have children' comments, and the 'your probably stressed, it'll work if your not stressed' or the 'just relax, it'll happen when you stop trying' comments

We had our first IVF in November which wasnt a good cycle. The drugs werent strong enough. Then we had another one with ICSI last month, but that was also a BFN

Nickster - wishing you loads of luck for the 26th. Will be thinking of you

Mom - Going to start our 3rd cycle in April (hopefully) so perhaps we'll be IVF buddies

Boonie - I know your frustrated, I'm sending lots of baby dust your way and hope it works.

Thinking of you all - think positive thoughts! Love and hugs

HI THERE

AFTER READING YOUR LETTER YOU NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY MY CASE IS SECONDARY INFERTILITY I HAD A BABY GIRL CONCEIVED NATURALLY IN 1998. WHEN I STRATED TRYING FOR A SECOND ONE IN THE YEAR 2001, I GAVE IT A YEAR BUT WAS UNSUCESSFUL THERE AFTER I HAVE DONE 6 ATTEMPTS OF IUI'S AND 1 IVF ALL UNSUCESSFUL. RECENTLY I WENT TO INDIA AND WAS GOING TO DO AN IVF, BUT THE DOCTOR SUGGESTED I DO A HYSTERSCOPY AND LACROSCOPY THEY DRILL MY OVARIES TO ENABLE EGGS TO PASS EASILY AND ASSURED ME I WILL CONCEIVE THIS YEAR 2008. ALSO GAVE ME AND MY HUSBAD FERTILITY PILLS AND SOME OTHER TABLETS AS WELL. iTS JUST BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE I AM ON THEM . LET SEE HOW IT WORKS.LET ME SEE IF I AM SUCCESFUL YOU MIGHT AS WELL TRY THAT DOCTOR

Hi Boonie,

I too, like you have unexplained infertility. All along the docs have told me we will have success with IVF but we would have to be prepared to give it 6 goes - that's the norm apparently. We have been ttc for over 5 years. I am now 36.

By some miracle of god I achieved a natural pregnancy after beginning chinese herbs in May of last year but we lost it at 5 and a half weeks when I contracted a terrible virus whilst travelling o/seas on holiday of all things. That then put me into the category of "secondary infertility".

All along the docs kept telling me I just had bad luck - after 3 failed IVF attempts. I would always get lots of eggs, respond well and DH was great in his dept. It was SO frustrating. Often I would hope that soemthing would show up in the tests just so that we could put our finger on what the problem was. Nothing was ever found.

I was one of those freaky annoying types that did happen to fall pregnant once I had started the adoption process. We attended all the seminars and began the official application process and bam - preggers. Unbelievable! That was our 4th IVF (FET) and I am now 13 weeks along with twins. I still have to pinch myself. It was the first time we had ever put back 2 embryos and this time both decided to take. No explanation, nothing different, our numbers just came up - twice. I remember calling my Doc and asking him why did it work this time? He said it was a lottery and that most people with unexp IF normally achieve pregnancy with the right amount of treatment.

I hope that offers some hope.

Good luck,

Dexter

Hi girls,

I also have unexplained infertility and have been trying for 6yrs. We have had 6 tmt's, 2 fresh cycles and 4 FET's - the last one resulted in a miscarriage (no HB at 7wks!). Anyway, I have just come back from visiting family overseas and while I was there I saw a homeopathic doctor. My DH swears by him as he managed to dissolve a breast lump his aunt had a few years back.

Anyway, after he tested me he told me I had an infection in my womb lining and partly in my tubes. He said while I had that I would never be able to conceive/maintain a pregnancy. He said the reason it hadn't been picked up before was due to the way they test for infections over here - via a smear test. Basically the swab doesn't go high enough and therefore misses the infection. The only way to find out for definite over here is to ask for a womb biopsy.

I have some homeopathic medicine to take and the doctor reckons within a few mths my chances or conceiving will be dramatically higher - obviously no guarentees but fingers crossed! So, there could be reasons why we haven't conceived, it may be that the doctors haven't done all the tests they can do. I will keep you guys posted and let you know if the medicine works!!

Keep the faith!

Hi Boonie! Yes, I know exactly how you feel. After 7 years ttc, x6 clomid, x2 IUIs, on 2nd IVF, the frustration is overwhelming. It seems so unfair when you see so many women popping them out who don't seem that bothered about having 'another' baby yet would mean the world to us. I feel like the poor woman having pproblems conceiving in the staffroom, hate people I don't know asking me if I have kids and friends feeling sorry if they put their foot in it! Do these sound familiar to you? Makes me feel mean thinking like that but as you get older it's harder to avoid eh. Oh and the adoption suggestions! Have they seen what you have to go through? Of course it's an option but yet another series of difficult processes which does not guarantee success. At the end of the day we all wish to go through pregnancy, giving birth, nurturing, and if really feels like we're being deprived of that precious gift of nature and it's so hearbraking..........

Sorry if I've gone on, still on the post et drugs and feeling VERY emotional........xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Boonie, My Dh has low sperm count up and down but nothing major. We have been together 13 years so even though it seems the low count cud be a problem the doc said people have got pregnant on less and not even known there was a problem so sometimes I feel that it might be unexplained or is it me or something.

Have u tried all the vitamins, acupuncture and the works u probably have. I think i'm an expert on it at this stage well my sis is a nutritionist so I have heard it all and still no joy but fingers crossed now IVF first timer in June.

Keep in touch, what's next on the plan for you.

Oh yes, I fully understand...

My wife and I have been trying for about three years now to get pregnant, but with still no results. We found out she had endriomosis and a doctor even removed it. My sperm count tested fine, but, alas, nothing! I'm 41 and she'll be 44 in sept. I see other pregnant women in our church and I hate to say it, but I walk around them and ignore them. We even had a baby dedication yesterday (mother's day) and I had to walk out. Last year my wife and I cried through it. It doesn't help when the pastor doesn't recognize people with this problem either, that it's a "beautiful thing when a man and woman come together" and yada, yada. I guess we let him and God down then. I'm at my end's wit and don't know what to do. I'm now realizing conception was very poorly designed. Sorry, had to vent.

WTF...After the Fact........................................

Post by frandance122 »

Hi Ladies,
I am new to this forum. I needed somewhere to vent. My sisters have beautiful kids...they dont understand. My friends dont know what im going through. My husband sympthizes and helps me deal with what I'm going through but he doesnt understand either. I am fustrated....sad....upset and VERY angry at these doctors you go to for their expertise and they just screw you.

I started IVF June of 05, did one IUI and three (3) IVF/ICSI cycles with the same doctors. Unsucessful. During that time I even went to an endocrinologist to be check out as well. September 06 those same doctors told me I have PCOS. PolyCystic Ovary Syndrom. I asked them why they didnt tell me before, their response was "it was not rellevant". What...Yes it is. That night I went home and looked it up on the computer and tears just came down my face.. It causes infertility and weight gain.

Now I just turned 41 and changed IVF doctors and he did a whole bunch of blood work and now found out I have high levels of Natural Killer Cells that destroys the embroys thinking its a foriegn object. OMG are you serious.

Like the other women in this forum. Im always thinking, what did I do in my life to go through this.. I have good maternal instincts.. Im always babysitting....I dont know how much I can take.....

I pray for all the ladies and good luck...

frandance and NK

Post by karrie »

Hi Frandance,
Just been reading about NK but looks like the possibility of concieving are really high once treated. We have 'unexplained' and i keep wondering if it could be NK too. I dont think you get tested for this in standard testing. I am on my first IVF with ET next week so if it doesnt work I will look into this.
What is your treatment for NK?

wishing you luck.
