I was a D-Coke and morning coffee drinker too but have cut both off the beginning of the year. My clinic never recommended it either. I do have a 1/2 cup of coffee on some saturday mornings to enjoy with dh and now only drink water and more water!!! I never really liked it but I actually feel better doing it. I feel healthier. I especially miss those morning javas and the feeling of a cold glass of d-coke gives you. I hardly go out these days too because of the no alcohol thing....I loved my wine and martinis (sigh!)...I think it's all worth it though for what we are here for- a little bundle(s) of joy!

I cut down my coffee intake about 6mos before IVF. I am only allowed one tiny cup a day until EC then NOTHING. As for alcohol. My clinic said during the IVF cycle I could have a glass of wine with dinner, just don't drink the whole bottle! After EC no alcohol at all. I miss my martinis too. I miss the coffee most of all and after I got my BFN this week I had the BIGGEST cup I could find and enjoyed every drop!
Hi geckogirl,
really sorry to hear of your results, but i bet you really did enjoy that cup its making me jealous just reading about it.
Hope you have success on your next cycle, positive thinking and all the wishes in the world.

Well since we started ttc we cut our Asparthame, and cut out coffee whenever we are on any fertility meds, and hubby had cut down on it also.
I usually drink alot of herbal teas, and even more during treatments. I've cerainly been trying to drink more water throughout the cycle and even more in the 2ww's. I don't really have much caffene or regular tea, and I don't have Decaffe as there's still a small percentage of caffene in those drinks, and don't drink Cola and Pepsi Max drinks anymore. As for alcohol, I'm not a big drinker really, and occasionally I'll have a small glass of Port. I've still got a bottle that was opened last Christmas, or I'll have a mouthful of hubby's beer whenver he's having one. But he doesn't even drink much either and never has been a 'down the pub' kind of guy. We both shared a tall can of beer at Christmas as we had a box of 12 and were both tipsy just on that one can. And since then I started telling him he could have one bottle a week if he wanted to, but we still have loads left.
But he's having them as Celebratory or as comiseration drinks come April, if the IVF works or doesn't work, because he won't want to drink any now we are doing the IVF so his 'boys and girls' stay healthy.
A little in modration won't hurt if that's what you want to hun.

N77...i also was a smoker for the past 13 years...when i started with infertility problems i cut back also and actually quit for 1 month during my 1st IUI in June 06...(my clinic also restricted alcohol during any cycle your on, which is a little hard for me since i love my beer and my husband plays in a local band and we spend every weekend in a bar...i should purchase stock in ODOULS)...after my BFN i went right back to cigarettes and beer..My additional 3 IUIs were the same it was easy to give up the beer but if i'm being honest i still smoked 3-5 cigarettes a day, hiding it from everyone...then again after my Oct 06 BFN i went rigt back to full time smoking...My last beer(s) was on December 20 as i started Lupron the next day, again i only cut back on cigarettes, it was just sooo hard to quit...Dec 26 i woke as usual and went down for my morning smoke at 8:30 am and it was the last one i had...QUIT COLD TURKEY...something just didn't seem right, how can i being giving myself 4 injections a day and still smoke, it just didn't make sense to me...it's been REALLY hard but if you have a good support system around you it really helps...i did my ER jan 15, tranfer the 18 and got my BFP on the 29...i actually don't even crave them anymore, i don't know if its the pregnancy that has turned me off now or just me...GOOD LUCK TO YOU ..you can do it

Thanks druiett for your message, it is so hard i am smoking 3 a day compared to 10-12 a day. I think i will be the same when i start injections i don't think i will be able to justify smoking. Well i hope so.
I think when i start to see things moving along it will help (hate to say but i really enjoy them).
Love that you came out with a BFP.
Take care of you and the little one(s)

Hey there - Another big Diet Coke fan here! I really wish more places would serve caffeine free diet coke, it would make it easier. I hate Sprite. The dr. himself never said anything about cutting back except to DH he did say he should cut back on alcohol. DH is big Guiness lover and dr. said "no, no" to that. I did ask the philebotemist yesterday about coffee and she said as long as you do it in moderation it's okay. But I've cutback on coffee since last year, I only drink decaf. With my first IVF cycle I did drink alcohol and the nurse said it can water down the HSG, this is my 2nd IVF cycle and I drank the first two days (social events) on Lupron than I told myself NO MORE! I miss my beer and wine but I just can't risk it for what I'm trying to achieve.
