frozen embies

Post by joanne n dave »

hi all...after 4 failed attempts at ivf,we are left with 2 frozen embies and a mountain of debt.has any of you had any success with only 2 frozen? does anyone know what the chances are of them surviving the thaw? i feel so confused.i want to have them transferred, but a part of me is too scared.they are my last hope, and i just dont know what to do.any advice would be greatly appreciated.we can't afford to do the full cycle again for at least a couple of years, but do i take the chance with my 2 precious embies???

Frozens can work very well. At some clinics, frozens work better than fresh. And yes, there can be a good reason for this.

But clinics vary greatly in their efficiency with frozen embryos. In the US, clinics' birth rates with frozens run from 0% to 50% plus, per transfer. the national average is just over 30% in the youngest age group.

joanne,

i don't want to build hopes ( but losts of PMA), but a close friend of mine only had 3 F/embies left, they went through with the transfer and now have a healthy baby boy :D
again each person and cycle differ, you do what you think is right for you honey.
all the very best with what you decide to do. will be thinking of you.

Hi,
I got pregnant with Frozen embryos after 3 failed cycles, Unfortunately for me I miscarried at 7.5 weeks, but I did get pregnant.
Good luck, have faith in the 2 left and you will be fine....

There's one case of a woman who failed TEN consecutive fresh cycles, then conceived with her first FET. FET can have significant advantages over fresh transfers. For one thing, they can prime the endometrium more precisely without all the elevated hormones following stimulation.

Hi Joanne, I was lucky enough to have 10 frozen embies, i have done 2 FET's defrosting 3 each time and 2 being good enough to transfer, i have had a positive both times, unfortunately neither have continued to term. I am now waiting for further tests before we do any more cycles.
FET's are much easier and less stressful on the body, I would go for it but check your clinic give a partial refund if your cycle is cancelled before ET as a lady on here did not get to transfer and gets no compensation, most clinics do, mine gives half the money back.

Hi,

I dont often come on this board but just wanted to let you know that we had 3 frozen embies and all 3 survived the thaw, we had 2 replaced and i now have a 4 month old daughter. they say thaw rate is roughly 50%, but not always like us it was 100%. Wishing you all the best, i would definately go ahead if i had your decision to make, because i would always be wondering what if???? and you never know, these could definately be the sticky ones!!!!

good luck
