does a higher hcg level mean twins?

Post by kandice »

just curious- if your hcg level zoomed up and you're having twins- or if it has anything to do with it at all?

been having lots of dreams we're going to end up with 2.

Hi Kandice,

I have very high levels - a week ago, nurse at my RE's office told me I might have twins since the #'s were so high. However, I had my first u/s today and it is just one baby in there My beta # is extremely high but only one baby so I've learned it isn't a tell tale sign of twins :)

Good luck!

Kandice,
Congratulations! My DH & I were in the same scenario as yourself and DH with our 1st IVF/ICSI. I too had a high hcg level and we had twin girls (13 months old now).
All the best.

Our first two beta levels that were a full day apart soared and we are expecting twins. However, my level was well in the normal range for a singleton so who knows? Good luck to you! I want other mothers expecting twins with me so I'm voting for two!!!! :D

My levels were very high and everyone expected twins, but we ended up with just one. I was so curious then too, but the number really doesn't tell you how many there are (unfortunately). Let us know when you find out. One thing the nurse did tell me was that the high number meant it was likely a strong pregnancy. Congrats on your BFP!

Hi I too had a high level at 15dpo - 454 I think but only one beanie with one heart beat  Higher levels can indicate twins but there's a huge range so it can be misleading. Be sure to let us know! I posted a thread very similar to this about 3 weeks ago - if you scroll through the pages and look for the title Beta Levels (by Lis - me!) someone replied with very good website address that compares levels for singletons and twin pregnancies - its worth a look!

Good luck!!
