FSH, estrogen levels

Post by Cori »

Can anyone help me? I am so worried about my levels.
I had an ectopic pregnancy in March 2005 and have failed to conceive ever since. I have had multiple IUI's and still have yet to conceive.
My doctor ordered blood tests. My Estrogen level is 71 and my FSH is 8.1.
Is this normal for a 29 year old. My doctor said that these are good numbers but I am afraid that she is just saying this because she know how wooried I am.
Can anyone help me with this?

Hi

Well my FSH was 2.7 and I am 42 so I would think that FSH for your age is high my Estogen is 39. I think you have high numbers for your age. I would get a second opinion.

Good luck.

Thanks Mikki for your reply.
As you can imagine, I have continued to ask my doctor about this and she reassures me that these are very good numbers because it isn't considered perimenopause until you reach about 18. She said that you have to also take into account the estrogen levels...the higher they are the more ovarian reserve you have and my estrogen levels are very good.
I am hoping that my FSH levels are a result of the fact that I have been on Clomid for 6 months. Thank you so much for your imput. I think that i will probably ask for a second opinion.

Hi There.

I am no professional, however I do know anything under 10 is very good. My fsh was 8 also and I am 27. I you ask me we're off to a great start. Your Dr is the best person to give you advise, But if you read online about healthy levels you will see that any number under 10 is healthy.

Hope I helped a little.

Hi Cori

Your FSH levels sound ok to me. I am 35 and have levels varying between 10 and 14, I have always understood below 10 is good.
Hang on in there and be positive.

Thank you all of you for your positive reinforcement and encouragement. I wish you all the best and will be thinking of you.
I have been told that if I do not get pregnant this month, I will be going on to IVF. I scheduled an appointment already for a consultation but it is not until August.
I don't know ho I am going to wait that long. I am sure all of you understand this.
Thanks again!

hi,
i had an estrogen level of 78, my doc said that was more like an 80year old woman, he was shocked and tried to fix it up for next time. i think, ( dont quote me) that a number closer to 10 would be better for estrogen
i also understand that levels of less than 10 for fsh are good, but i do not know how low is good.
sorry if i hust confussed you
me; 1st cycle jan 05, 4 follies, 1 fresh transfer 1 FT
9 cycles since all with follies too small, cancelled
