I recently had an unsuccesful ivf cycle at The Chaucer Hospital, Canterbury. I was wondering if anyone knows how to choose the best hospital. I am 38yrs old. I have found out he success rate is not good at the chaucer. Should i be taking notice of this, or should i change to a hospital with high success rates? Can anyone reccommend a hospital?
Hi
Sorry to hear of your unsuccessful cycle.
It's natural to start looking around for new clinics to try but I would say if you are happy that the hospital have treated you well and you feel comfortable there then stick with it and don't put too much emphasis on their published results. It may be that they take on 'difficult' cases with a lower success rate but have more success with straightforward cases, without looking in to published success rates in great detail, its difficult to be sure.
I don't know about any clinics in Kent (I am in Surrey) but depending how far you want to travel, if you work in London then perhaps that is where to investigate hospitals as they seem to be the most well thought of.
You may get more response if you post in the general forum (not sure if you have already, sorry, didn't look before I saw this)
Best of luck anyway
