I will be starting my second attempt in March/April time and until recently felt prepared. I am geting depressed and over anxious about it. The first time was easier as I did not know what to expect and just went with the flow. Does anyone out there have some advice about things I can try to calm myself down. I am waitng for a councillor to call me back but wondered at this stage if it would be worth trying some aromatherapy or something to help detress.
I have just gone through my first IVF cycle. I test tomorrow and am trying to stay hopeful but just have that "feeling" it didn't work this time. I will try again in April.
I know just how you feel. It is a scary process but I found that the case managers, the doctor, and the nurses are really there to answer all you questions and although it looks complicated, it really isn't too bad. They really monitor you very carefully with frequent sonograms. The injections aren't all that bad - even the progesterone shots after transfer- and the only thing that is hard is the mood swings which I have battled by trying to work on other things and not think about it too much. As for egg retrieval - that was the easiest! You are completely out and don't feel a thing. I had only some minor cramping after for about a day (kinda like AF cramps).
Daly, just read your post about your precious baby. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know your heart must be breaking. ((hugs)) I pray you have a successful cycle...
Gals, I'm not sure when I will start my cycle yet for sure but I'm guessing sometime in April. I had a successful 1st time IVF/ICSI in Dec but m/c at the end of January (8wks). I'm just now getting to where I can really talk about it. Grief is a hard process to get through. We've been unsure of trying again due to emotions/cost but I really want to try one last time. My DD (6yrs old after 11 yrs IF) said today to me, "Mommy, we need to start praying again for another baby." This REALLY makes me want to try one more time. She is so precious and I truly want her to have a sibling.
On my last cycle, RE stimmed me at the max on Menopur and I only produced 1 mature egg, but it fertilized and implanted. My FSH is like 14.2 and I only have 1 ovary. DH's sperm count is low also. Going through IVF is like coasting on a wing and a prayer....
geckogirl - don't give up yet, you may very well be pg.....good luck with your test. Let us know what you find out....

It is a BFN for me this cycle. I am so sad but trying to stay upbeat for DH who is also feeling sad and defeated. We will try again in April if possible. It is nice to know you all are there for me. Will keep you posted.
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I hope you had a good result.
I got through the first treatment but was very ill after due to the drugs which left me constipated and bloated for weeks after. However I am beginning to feel better and trying not to worry too much. I am arranging to take some time out during treatment and concentrate on some of my hobbies rather than work. The mood swings got unbearable and at times and I found it was best to leave me along which doesn't happen at work.
I am trying to be positive now. Spring is coming and always hightens the mood so I am looking forward to working on the garden which is always therapeutic.
I really hope you had a good result and thanks again for the reply.
Can I join the rollercoaster ride? I'm due to start my first FET at the end of March/beginning of April after my BFN in January.
AGallagher - try not to worry (I know it's easier said than done, but you shouldn't worry about the things you can't control) maybe find yourself a project - the garden sounds perfect - take time to plan it, draw plans etc.
Some ladies on the Dec/ Jan thread swear by accupuncture to help with relaxation - I haven't tried it myself.
Daly - I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You sound like a very strong lady and I wish you every success with your cycle. Sending you an AF jiggy dance!
Jovigal - sorry to hear about your loss, I'm glad you have found the strength to carry on. I wish you a huge great BFP!
Gekogirl - I'm really sorry to hear about your BFN. Sending cyber hugs to you and DH.
Hello to everyone I have missed. Hopefully this will be a really busy and posive thread with BFP's for us all.

Wow it seems that we are doing the same protocol. I used Lupron last time and got BFN. We start stim meds again 3/21 and EC 4/2 ET 4/5. We are trying to do PGD but we did not have enough eggs last time. This time we will attempt again but if not they are doing the 3 day transfer. It was a 4 day transfer last time due to quality of my eggs. I had 1 great and 2 good, they put in all 3... This time we are also going to try asisted hatching if we are not able to do PGD.
Hi ladies, I will be on the end of this IVF in April, but i start down regging on 5th March, The Ec is planned for 11th april, and Blasto 5 days later!
Wishing us all, the very best!!! x x

Hi everyone,
I seen my nurse the other day and i got my plan EC was to be on the 9th April with everything in between but i started my BCP's 26th march and they made me really sick so i had to stop them, hope this does not muck up the plan. Could not believe i got so sick from that tiny little tablet now i am really worried about the nasal spray and injections and how i will react.
AGallagher -what was it that made you so ill, or was it a combination of the lot. Also how did you make it through?
charlie78-Love the AF jiggy dance saying that really just brightened me up. Thanks needed it. And another thing do you know when they suggest starting accupuncture and what what they actually recommend it for?
nicolamark and smattison-sounds like were going to be pretty close in our cycle dates. smattison, sorry if this is a silly question but what is PGD?
Well i hope everyone stays healthy and keeps in touch with their progress i'm sure these posts are what gets us all through in the end with BFP's .
Goodluck everyone

N77 - I have heard some ladies going for accupuncture up to 3 months before EC. I have also heard of ladies who have got BFP's that said they went for accupuncture just before and just after ET. It supposedly helps to prepare the lining for implantation - something to do with blood circulation. Have you heard of zita west? She is a fertility expert that has written books on the subject - but if you put her name into google she has a web site that might tell you a bit more about it.
I'm not sure about the merits of accupuncture and my Doc said it would make no difference, but I think each to their own and if it relaxes you and prepares you mentally then why not? I would just make sure that if you do decide to go for it go to someone that specialises in infertility or doctor recommended.
I hope everything goes well with the sniffing and stimming - keep us updated!
Hi nicolamark - that test day will soon come round - sending you lots of sticky baby dust!!
Jovigal - thats good news about your HCG level! Sending you an AF jiggy dance! LOL.
