I'm on day 3 of my cycle...I had my baseline blood work and ultrasound done yesterday and I just received the results. They seem very discouraging...I would like to know if anyone can explain them to me or has had similiar results w/IVF
Progesterone - .8
FSH - 18.6
LH - 4.1
Est: 12L
ttc - 6 years
11 yr old daughter
2 failed - IUI's
Going thru 1st IVF
High FSH
I am not sure what your protocol is, but I also had the high FSH. I was put on a flare protocol and did not do the BCP. Instead, I was given estridal to help lower my FSH before the cycle. When they did this, my baseline FSH was right on the button. However, do not expect to make 15+ eggs in your cycle. Women with high FSH generally produce very few eggs. I am not sure how old you are, but when it comes to FSH it doesn't really matter. For example, I am 27 and I have two other children. Despite my doctor's assumption that my reserve was fine, it was not and my FSH came in very high for my age. I was given the hishest doses of the fertillity meds and only managed to produce 5 eggs (8 follicles). However, if you manage to make the eggs, it seems like you will be fine. Geneerally, if you already have a child with the same person (DH), your chances of getting PG go up.
If I were you, research the high FSH on the internet and go into your next appointment with loads of questions. My RE was very open about being questioned. The more you know, the better you will feel.
As always, every woman is different and their bodies can react differently.
Thanks for all your information. My FSH as you can see is extremely high especially for my age...I'm 28! I've been ttc for 6 years, my DH is not my daughter's father. He has a son who is 9 and his analysis overall was good! I'm currently on day 3 of my cycle and I'm waiting on a callback to find out what medication I should be taking for this cycle. Now you said you started taking meds before you cycle cause you also had high FSH....if you don't mind can you tell me the meds you took. I know it seems horrible but I've been so mentally drained with all of this infertility I kind of blocked out all of the meds that may or may not be needed, so I may be put on the same protocol as you were, but honestly I try not to concentrate on any of it until I have too.....lol i still haven't come to grips with the fact that I'm going to have to self inject

Sorry for the delay in answering, I have been really tired the last couple of days.
Now, here is my information. I did have a cycle that worked, but my cycle was filled with horrible moments and I do not wish this on anyone. I did take the estridal (estrogen) before my cycle for about two weeks. I used Gonal-F and another one (it started with an R). I was on very high doses of both. I pray you do not have as many traumas as we did, but I will warn you.
You will not likely produce very many eggs (some girls don't produce any)
The quality of your eggs will likely be reduced.
Do not pay attention to the statistics (in the end they mean nothing)
If you keep this in mind, you will emotionally make it through. I learned the hard way. I had 8 follicles which only had 5 eggs. Only 2 eggs survived the cleaning process. Of the 2, ICSI was performed on both but only 1 divided. They rushed me into the office to replace the one embryo less than 36 hours after retrieval. I was given almost no hope (I believe one estimate was 10% chance). We were devesated. I cried for days until I decided I couldn't do it anymore and forgot about it. I stopped laying in bed and being gentle. I started being with my older boys and doing my Scouting activities again. I made plans for the future that did not involve another baby. Three days before I was scheduled to do the BW, I started getting sick. I did the HPT and could not believe it. We did it 4 more times before we called the RE. We were pregnant and the RE couldn't believe it. He called us in for the BW early and confirmed the pregnancy two hours later. We had a really good outcome, but we were dragged all over the place. I will pray for you and your family.
Just thought I would reply to this post because I too had a borderline high FSH 10.8. I am I am in first IVF cycle and have had a very rough start, My first E2 test came back at 20.8 should have been over 100. with only 2 follies, I am now on day 10 of stimm and on the highest dose of follistim. Yesterday my # was 292 still not great but better, and they found 1 15.7mm follie on the left and one more small one, there were about 6 on the right, 4 of them at 11mm a few more smaller ones, my treatment has been extended a few more days before I trigger to help these grow, which sucks cause I am ready to get going, but I will stay on it for as long as it takes to have the best chance. I go back 2morrow to see how they progressed. The follie on the left went from 9.7 to 15.7 in 2 days so I am hoping that I will have a higher count and can proceed with ER. On sat the Dr and I thought we were going to have to cancel, but surprise it got better so don't give up. I am just hoping for one little miracle. Dr seems to think ER will be this weekend or Mon I will try to keep you posted!!
HOPING FOR THE BEST AND PRAYING FOR YOU!!!!
Ok Ladies I had ER yesterday and we got 4 eggs but one was not mature so down to 3, Lab called this morning and all 3 fertilized!!!
They will call me on Tues and let me know how they look then ET is on Thurs at 8:15 am So wish me luck everyone!! RN said they looked fine and ferted fine with ICSI so here we go.
I was really sore and bloated yesterday, but I feel fine today, I think I may hav found a trick to help, you know those heated patches you can get for your period, well I wore one last night and have one on today and it really helps, it is like having a portable heating pad. Just an idea to relieve ER pain.
I will update you and let you know what they say on day 3.
HERES HOPES AND PRAYERS FOR ALL OF YOU!!!
Hubby and I have been ttc for nearly 9 years now. I've done Clomid on and off in 2002-2003, on and off in 2004 and 2005. We had an IUI cycle cancelled on us in the middle on June 2006 as I wasn't responding to the meds very well and so we're onto our first IVF. Two hours I started spotting and now AF is here so it's CD1 for me now. I'm going to ring the hospital on Wednesday to get my cd2 blood tests done.
I'll be on a Long protocol, and we had that all planned out since Jan. On CD7 is hubby's SA test, CD10 I have to go back in to have swabs done, we'll know when hubby's follow up test is. Then I'll be taking 2 injections of 0.5iu Buserelin auto injections, one in the morning and one in the afternoon on cd21. Man I have get used to being a pin cushion again . If that all goes to plan I should be having 7-10 days from cd28-30. And then it's onto Menopur Stims hopefully March/April and take things from there.
Chat soon.

just a word- be careful about those heating patches- I was going to get one too for my pio shots and the box says do not use if pregnant- I asked re and she said they have chems in there and to use a reg heating pad.
we have tried so hard to get pregnant- don't want anything jeopardizing those developing babies!!
I only used the pads on stomach the day of my Egg Retrieval, although I did use them on my behind after shots, but only for a day or so, and so far no ill effects, I wouldn't think that it would be good to use them for long periods at a time, I had a blood pocket built up in my tush and teh Dr told me because I don't have a lifestyle or a 100,000 ft extension cord lol that I could use them on my behind.
So there ya go, you just never know, I would not use on stomach after Egg transfer for any reason!!!!!!!!!
