Bleeding

Hi Everybody

This is my first shot at IVF had Embryo transfer on 22nd of Feb,
i finished pessaries on mon started spotting on the Sunday night was told this wouldnt happen till i finished pessaries. I started to get period pains this morning and im actually bleeding I have phoned the hospital but they havent been much help to me, i done a home test in fact so worried and up in the air i done 2 both came back positive (really stupid even more worried). They also told me to test on Sat which is 16 days i know its only a matter of 2 days but everybody else seems to be 2 weeks have they calculated days wrong? is bleeding normal i am so worried and upset i know i shouldnt get hopes up but hard not to. Any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

oh chell, unfortunately i cant help as its my first ivf too but i'm thinking of you. your poor thing, i can only imagine what you must be going through. i'm sure one of the ladies (or gents) on here will be able to help...big hugs!!

Hi chell....im sorry i dont understand your post...you had ET on 22nd feb? but the clinic want you to test on 16th March? you havent had your official test but you stopped the pesseries?....now you have two +ive HPT's....

im sorry if you could explain more where you are right now we may be able to help...i wish you well im sorry your so worried...

Hi

Sorry so worked up im not making any sense, it is the 10th of march they asked me to test,have just done another one which was pos bleeding is red and brown i feel very much like its my period. i just dont know what to do with myself i have resigned to the fact that treatment hast worked
have spent all afternoon going through post to see if any advice that can perk me up no joy hospital just brushed me off and said just to wait till sat.

why are you stopping pessaries. Most clinics have you on them for 10 weeks or more?? I'm not a medical professional, but this could be why you are bleeding.

I was only given 25 to be taken twice daily started 3 days before ET
I think will just have to face the obvious, dont know what else to do.

Ahh right sorry Chell im with you now, firstly i would say if your getting a +ive from a HPT then your pregnant,

Now i know it must be so worrying to be bleeding right now i agree with Jennifer i would call your Dr and ask for some more pesseries i have never heard of a clinic stopping them at this point at all, did they give you a perscription?..maybe there is a refill on it?...if not then call until you get some....as for the bleeding i have seen this a lot and Lady's have gone on to have very healthy babies the reason i say babies is most of the lady's i know who bled at this point where having twins dont freak out it happens with single beanies too there are lots of reasons for bleeding unrelated to loosing a baby most reasons i have seen has been a blood clot as scary as this sounds it doesnt effect the baby

I know it must be very hard but try to stay positive make sure your resting with your feet up and call be very annoying until you get some more pesseries.....i will keep you in my prayers

Feel much better now really i do, im not normally a drama queen but when you want somthing so bad its hard not to be. I was not given any repeat perscription i will call hospital again tommorow and nag them. Thankyou all for advice will keep my feet up as much as poss

Thanks will phone tommorow for pessaries, I only had one embryo put back because of hyper stimulation so multiple birth i think can be ruled out. I will just have to wait and see on saturday fingers crossed

I'm so sorry you are going threw this. My dr tested me 10 and 12 days after transfer and I was pregnant. I cannot remember exactly what day, but the next week I started bleeding and bled for a day and a half and had period pains. I went to the emergency room and they told me it wasn't a viable preg. I went to my RE 5 days later and everything was fine. My RE dr told me that sometimes you bleed when you placenta is beginning to form. Now I'm 35 wks and doin well. I agree with the other girls that you hpt mean you are probably pregnant. I wish you all the luck in the world.

sorry to hear of your troubles, you really need to get back to your clinic or own Dr and get more pessaries, i have never heard of a clinic stopping the pessaries so soon, please try not to worry(easy for me to say) the girls are right i have know many women to bleed and then go on and have a lovely healthy bouncing baby. lots of PMA.

hang in there.
my clinic told me that you only get a false neg. but a pos is a pos.
call your clinic and tell them you are the patient and they need to help you.

Thank you all for advice yesterday,
i phoned the hospital to tell them that i am bleeding,
the nurses response was just that we can asume treatment hasnt worked and still to do test on sat.
Really upset that i was cut so short has put me off going for a frozen embryo transfer, i dont think mentally i could cope.
I am confussed as to what to do Sat if test is still pos i cant get anybody at clinic till the monday.

Hi Chell,

I kind of want to go to your clinic and smack that nurse for you. I would not say that it did not work. If you have taken HPT's and they have come up positive then you are pregnant. Did you have a chance to explain to her that you have taken the tests? I would call back and demand to speak to the doctor. I would not take no for an answer! You dont want to take any chances if you are infact pregnant. Please let us know what happens.
