first timer too

Post by teen »

Hello everyone i have just finished my first IVF. I had my eggs put back in on Wednesday and have to wait the very long 2 weeks to see if it has worked or not and i'm absolutely terrified! Has been a very hard couple of months never thought it was going to be easy, but hormones went completely out of control. I found i started to feel better once i started the injections, had to do them myself and as i'm scarred of needles it actually went ok. At the moment every pain or twinge is making me run to the loo, its the un known i'm finding hard, having not gone through this before you just don't know what to expect. Glad i found this site because although friends and family are supportive, they don't really know what its actually like. Also i'm new to message boards and am not very computer lit so hopefully this has worked! wishing you all lots of success. xxx

Hope all is well with you and your dear other. It is a big waiting time and the worse for me was to go to the bathroom - always fearing to find out some blood...which eventually happened last August.
Well, we are goint to try again this June.
I hope you find the tranquility necessary to be there for your precious embrio(s) and also for the possibility of a BFN.
The most important person at this point is your companion. Try to connect with him/her in very meaningful ways - nurturing (food, pictures, music, scents...). Your bond is SO important...
The child will come anytime in the future - and will benefit from the emotional endurance you are gaining during this difficult time.
Best wishes!

hey teen and welcome to this board!!!!!!!

congratulations on getting this far and having your embies back. its my first ivf too so i dont know what the 2ww (two week wait) is like yet but i have read many ladies on here on their 2ww and i think it must be the hardest and longest 2ww there is!!!!

anyway, you may want to join the general forum and the february thread which has ladies on there cycling at the moment and you may find some on there going through the 2ww at the moment. it just helps talking to other ladies going through the same stage. when do you test???

here's to a strong BFP for you!!! (bfp = big fat positive compared to a bfn = big fat negative, which we dont want!!)

Thank you for your responce.

Shantala i'm due to test on Wednesday 7th March and really wish it was tomorow. Been having a bit of a panic as have been crampy since my eggs were popped back in last wednesday! I was at risk of OHSS as had 26 follicles, but when i had egg collection on monday i only had 4 eggs which was weird as blood test on the friday and sat before suggested at least 10. Lucky for me all 4 fertilised and had 2 retuned on weds.

How have you been feeling with the drugs? i cried every night whilst i was sniffing.
Take care

hey teen

sorry to hear you are so worried in your 2ww...i'm sure i will be exactly the same!! i have heard that the progesterone can cause the cramping so try not to worry about that (i know, i know, much easier said than done!!). i really hope the 7th comes round as quickly as possible for you!!

whilst i was sniffing i was very emotional, definitely!! bit better now that i have started stimms which is good. just out of interest, did you carry on sniffing whilst stimming?? and how long did you stimm before you took your trigger??

which clinic in london are you attending?? we were looking into london clinics as we live in reading so are not far away but then decided to go with oxford as it is easier for us (and it has a good reputation and couldnt choose btw london clinics as many have good reputations)

Hey Shantala

As weird as it sounds it actually seems like ages ago i stopped all the drugs.

Yep i was sniffing all the way through injections 4 sniffs a day and 150 on the injections. Took my last 4 sniffs the same day at the trigger (are you talking about the hCG injection). That was on the Saturday 11.30pm. and had my eggs removed on the monday.

We are at Kings College Hospital, (NHS).

How long have you been trying? I am 32 and have been trying for the last 4 years, was on the waiting list for NHS for 2 yrs.

The treatment i have received has been brilliant and all the staff at the hospital have been really understanding, and patience of saints!!!

We have un-explaned fertility. So have every crossed i'm going to be big and pregnant all summer... Although look about 4 months now with all the swelling.....
