Twins????

Post by bnb »

Just curious-

would you be ecstatic to find out that your hypothetical BFP was twins or dismayed?

I've been faced with having to deal with the possibilities.

FOR ME ....I'm not sure what would be worse ..... twins ... or a BFN. I feel really guilty admitting to that ...but some of us just aren't cut out for more than one at a time. I'm one of those people ... and I'm not in denial.

When they first told me that it was a possibility I said NO way No way No way, and my husband was all for it, but I said No for alot of reasons I want to spoil each child individually, having twins would be a huge expense, I dont know that i could handle two children at once, and I wouldnt want to risk loosing them Im not sure that it would be a bigger risk but that's how i saw it, however now that I am actually going through the cycle and doing it, Im all for twins. why not we can spoil the heck outta both of them, money issues we will have to work something out, and god wouldn't give me more then I can handle, so at this point I will take whatever I can get, I want babies and i want lots of them and I cant afford to pay 12,000 each time to go through invitro so to be honest twins would be the best way for me! I think to find out that you have infertility issues is so depressing and them to find out you can have twins!!! its amazing!!

I feel the exact same way.

this sounds SO melodramatic but i feel like having twins would mean the end of maintaining any semblance of my own life. (just FOR ME. not talking about anybody else's life or decision.) so much so that i would strongly consider reducing from 2 to 1. god i hope i don't wind up having to make that decision.

We are one of those couples that will be getting double the pleasure!! Of course, it still hasn't completely settled in yet but we are thrilled and can't wait! With IVF we knew there was a chance and we honestly feel so blessed to get the challenge. Never would we have thought of reducing to one. Some people may not be happy at the news of twins but in that case perhaps transferring one embryo is a better option. I'll take two over a BFN anyday! :D

I would LOVE to have twins! Instant family (!), and i wouldn't have to go through h*ll again just to have a second (It appears it will take me 6 fresh just to get #1-- fingers crossed--... how am i going to ever have #2?). But then, we have twins in my family (younger brother and sister), so twins seem pretty normal to me. I can, though, understand how they could seem overwhelming to people. My sil just had twins a year ago. It has been really hard for her, but definitely do-able.

I would be sooooooooo pleased if I found out I was having twins. If I get a BFP this cycle I will be so desperate for the scan looking for two heartbeats and not one however I would be 100% happy with one.

It just saves going through the whole IVF process again

I would love twins, i always said before we knew we had to go this route that i would love twins. So now on the fertility wagon and due to my age two would be fantastic as when i get a positive sucsessfully, i will be happy with my lot whether its one or two.
I hope each and every one of us acheives our dream.

BNB post I would consider reducing 2 to 1. Are you kidding me????? I just had twins and yes they are a handful but to abort one of them to keep your "semblance of life" is ridiculous. Sorry if I am coming off cruel but isn't motherhood all about sacrifices?

Catwhitfield, I just saw you're from Hull. I live on the west coast of the US now but am from Beverley! all my family are still there and I miss it sooooo much - especially at times like this.

kabillion,

no i am not kidding you.
personally, i think motherhood is about making good choices.
i wouldn't presume to tell you how to create your family.
what's ridiculous is your sense of entitlement to impose your opinions and decisions on others.
well guess what?
it's not your call to make.

hey bnb,

not sure if your on your fisrt IVF or what your background is but some of us on this forum having been trying for a long time and would be really grateful for what we get - twins, triplets or one. We all long to have a family and we're all on a very exhausted and emotional path trying to make it happen. It IS your choice and I'm sure we all respect that, it's just a sensitive issue among people with the same dream.

I really hope you get what you want, take care and good luck

Rebecca
