Hi em
thanks for asking i'm fine, i don't know my test date i wasn't to optimistic that it would even work so i didn't ask and i don't think the doc is to optimistic either as he didn't mention it i'll have to ring next week some time to check. hey glad your scan went well of your babes did you get the 4d scans done there pretty cool hey.
has anyone heard of doctors doing iui with a stimmulated cycle (stimulated with the injections to grow eggs like for a full ivf cycle) i was wondering if this is commonly practised or if its just the one doctor iv'e heard of . the reason i ask is a lady i know has just done a course of the needles to make her eggs 15 infact but only 2 really good ones and then had the ovidrel to release her eggs she now has to go home with hubby and conceive naturally and its only cost her $2000 so instead of me paying $5500 or so next time i thought i could have the same thing happen but with iui as we need a doner. I'm wondering if this is how the brissy lady has had one set of quads and then pregnant with another set of quads to deliver triplets . so if anyone knows anything can you let me know as i would be interested in looking into it if this cycle doesn't work.
hey belb great to hear from you and to hear your girls are doing well thanks for asking about Jacob he is great he has two teeth now and says mum quite clearly were working on the dad dad which is funny as he cracks up everytime we say it he must think his daddy is pretty funny. is Ellie crawling yet Jacob moves backwards and occassionally forward but nothing to spectacular aren't solids messy i can't tell you how many times ive got food up jacobs nose the poor little sod, oh and on the table his chair his head up his arms down his legs the floor me and everything else in a half metre radius the faces he pulls is just priceless. well glad to hear from you don't be a stranger chat soon
hey cheeky how you feeling has it sunk in yet.
hi everyone else hope your all well
kery goodluck for the 22nd of the month i think that was when you said you start
Can sort of help with your question...I had IUI's with Clomid (tablets) which made me produce around 6 good follicles each time. I was given a hCG shot when my bloods said I was about to ovulate. Then DH sperm was washed and injected straight into my uterus. The whole cycle cost us about $600 per go and of course medicare covered most of it. My doc was David Lingard (QFG).
My friend didn't respond well to the Clomid so she had Puregon injections to produce more eggs and then the same IUI process. She had twins back in November! Her doc was Doug Keeping (QFG).
I'm not sure how Dale (the chick with the quads) had hers, but I do know that it was donor sperm. I guess it was an IUI as I can't see any doc putting back 4 embryos after IVF.
I've forgotten what your trouble is but as long as your tubes are good then an IUI is definately a cheaper option. The down side is that the sucess rates are lower (around 15%).
We picked up our cots today. All bulit and looking cute ready for the babies. I had a peek at work on friday and Twin 1 is looking really squashed by Twin 2. I think that they will come sooner rather than later as I am very short and have no waist, so there is only limited room to start. We are trying to come up with girls names but are really stuck. For boys we have Finnlay Dane and Lachlan John. Dane was my neighbour who was killed in a car crash 4 years ago (just 21) and John is my Dad's name.
Hope everyone is well.

Em..23 weeks already!!..I always found it amazing how much my pregnancies flew for other people and seemed to craaaaaaaaaaaawl for me..you just get so keen for it to be over and to be able to hold those bubbies in your arms. Glad to hear that you went to Soouthbank for your scan. My good friend Jane's sister Bridget is one of the doctors there and is one of the partners, sounds like othey offer a fantastic service..Why do you have to have a 26 week scan if you don't mind me asking..is this a twin thing??
Jo..can't believe Jacob has starting saying some words..Ellie says goo, gaa, gee etc, but nothing more..
Hey bel,
as i'm sure you know they are all different and do things at different times my sisters boy who was born 4 days before Jacob has no teeth yet but can sit himself up all by himself My sisters baby is also quieter than Jacob and alot more placid where as jacob is loud very social and a nosey monster who wants to be in everything he's very alert.
hi everyone,
just poping in to be nosey as see where everyone is at, looks like there is a good start to the years, so far, for most..
i had my cycle cancelled on the 15th feb, so was meant to ovulate a few days after that, but i still have had no period, this makes me about 12days late....does anyone if this is normal, or could i be getting my hoipes up, thinking DH did the job on the abandoned egg, for nothing..
i am not going to do a PT ...i am too scared
just wondering how long is normal to get your period after a cancelled cycle really
bye for now, kee
me; 1st cycle jan 05, 4 follies, 1 fresh transfer 1 FT
9 cycles since all with follies too small, cancelled
heartbroken
Hi kee kee
Was that cycle this feb what happened sorry your cycle was cancelled i could think of nothing more frustrating hopefully your next cycle will be the one. on the other hand from what your saying maybe you won't need another cycle maybe DH has done the trick for you.
I know after my first cycle i almost skipped a visit from Aunty Flow i guess the drugs are still in your system but heres hoping its the first reason wouldn't that be great.
Hi Em Dh had his boys checked out just before our first Ivf and because the results weren't that good we were going to need ICSI Dh had been put on new medication approx a month before EC and when it came time the doc couldn't find anything to retreive we figured it was the medication that had caused the problem we had to go down the donar path. The cycle ended up with a pregnancy but i m/c for the next cycle we were doing Donar iui with clomid to help with egg production we tryed this three times all three didn't work we opted to go back to IVF i had to have the highest dosage of the drugs for an extended time also as we found i am a terrible egg maker. So thats why i thought the method i mentioned earlier might be for us . as for my tube i'm not aware of any problem I do know i get skin grown over my womb opening so the doc would need to cut that first if he was to do IUI. Thanks for the info i will definately look into it if we don't have lick this time. Great names by the way lauchlan is one of my favourite names maybe the twin thats doing all the squishing is a boy and the other is a little girl i take it your leaving the sexes for a suprise I think it gives you something extra to look forward to at the end of the labour ooohhh do you know if they are going to let you give birth yourself or are you going to have a ceasar.
correction from the last post "if we have lick" should read if we have luck boy i should read my posts properly before i post them i'm sure you all get the idea of the posts though
jomae
HI everyone.
Firstly wanted to say what a wonderful idea it is to have an Aussie/Kiwi board!! We have been TTC since 2004. Diagnosed with High FSH (max been about 15, usually around 12). DH has male factor (low count 5.5 mill). I also have only 1 ovary due to endometrial cyst which burst and had to be removed (along with the ovary) in 2001. Had first IVF round this January - cancelled due to poor response (1 follie). That was long protocol. Now waiting in the public funding queue for next IVF round where they will try Microdose Flare short protocol to see if I respond better- hopefully we will start this in May.
We are seriously thinking about moving to Australia - either Melbourne or Sydney - most probably Melbourne as property prices cheaper - later in the year as after this next round (unless we get a BFP!) we will have run out of public funding in NZ.
Treatment is a lot cheaper in Australia - plus we really feel we could do with a change anyway - you know how infertility feels like the big holding pattern!!
I was keen to write to the message board as I wanted to ask people if they know of any specialists in Australia (esp Melbourne or Sydney) who specialise in treating women with High FSH/Poor responders? Your experiences?
We had a very positive "second opinion" consultation last week with Fertility Associates in Auckland (we paid and went private for the consultation) with Simon Kelly who we had heard was the guy to see if you were High FSH/poor responder. He is known for trying different protocols on poor responders.
He advised if Microdose Flare didnt work for me then he would try Antagonist Protocol. If we were staying in NZ we would definitely want to switch to him for treatment however this will cost so much money. So we are really now looking for a "Simon Kelly" in Australia!!! (ie a specialist who has an interest in working with women with High FSH using their own eggs).
WE are most definitely not ready for donor eggs yet. Im 36 and want to give it a good go with different protocols before we think about donor eggs.
Can anyone help with pointers about good specialists in Melbourne or Sydney for High FSH/poor responders? Also any general tips about clinics in Melbourne/Sydney would be great.
WE are heading to Melbourne end of April for one week holiday where we would like to check out some clinics and just get a feel for the place so if we had some pointers in advance that would be great.
Many thanks for your help
Marnie
hi all
How is everyone coming along in their cycles
Hey jomae how ya feeling coming up too a week now with them too little fighter embies in ya. I'll be sending your two little embies some baby super glue dust. Me and Dh have been quietly celebrating but not getting too excited have only told 3 people at work. Been feeling crappy and overheated this brisbane weather hope it will cool down soon. It really hasn't sunken in yet for me jomae maybe when i see the babies heartbeat in two weeks time that it will sink in.
hey keekee
My period was late by two weeks after a cancelled stimulated cycle takes time for all the drugs to come out of your system but if it was drug free wow you never know either way good luck.
hello resolver
welcome to this wonderful group of people although i cannot help you with your questions there will definately be someone that can on this thread or another and I might add brisbane is cheaper than melbourne and sydney.
Oh we'll ladies I hope everyone is fine goodluck wherever you are in your cycles Cheeky

Jo - Don't know what I'm doing about the birth yet. The idea of a natural birth scares me a little but then I don't like the idea of having a wound from a caesar and not being able to lift my babies for weeks....I'm going to wiat and see what the doc says...I trust him, he got me in this situation in the first place after all!!! And hey, keep your chin up about your 2 little fighters, they may both be snug in there as we speak!
Bel - Yeah, it is a twin thing. Up to 26 weeks both twins grow at the same rate as a singleton but then they start to run out of room and their growth slows down dramatically. So from 26 weeks onwards, I have to have two-weekly scans to check their measurements and check that their growth hasn't stopped completely. I had a scan today, one of our ultrasound students is using me as a case study and both twins measured bang on for 23 weeks, so all good so far. By the way I met Bridgit...she's lovely.
Keekee - Sorry that you had your cycle cancelled again! But I would so do a preg test! This may be your miracle!!!!
Hi Marnie - Can't really help you with Sydney or Melbourne as I'm a brissy girl, but I do know that Sydney IVF has the best stats in Australia, so they have to be good. I have to agree with Cheeky though, Bris-vegas is much cheaper than Sydney or Melbourne. Where in NZ are you from? My DH is a Raglan boy and very proud of it! Look forward to keeping up with your progress.
Cheeky - I hear you about the weather! How ridiculously hot has it been? I got burnt taking my dog for a walk at the beach at Nudgee yesterday. I suprised that you still have the restraint to keep your fabulous news quiet....after all we'd gone through I told everyone and anyone. I didn't care if it all ended in tears...I was pregnant for the first time ever and you couldn't shut me up! I am still so thrillled for you!
For me the day was an up and down one....I had one friend give birth to her son at 36 weeks after being on strict bed rest after going into labour at 23 weeks and then I had another friend go to her first obstetrican appointment to be told that the baby had died. She was 10 weeks. You can't help but wonder at the circle of life.
Love Em

hi everyon,
i did the PT, was neg, oh well, always next time.
its good to see so many positive stories on here, and twinns, so exciting
resolver... i am a poor responder too, i have had 9 cancelled cycles because they cant get me follie to grow, i have tried the antagonist, the boost/flare, long and short protocol, i am in victoria, my doc comes up from Monash clinic, (melb- each standard ISCI is $3600) he is the regional specialst, i am not the best to talk to about success rates or what to do, i am still on my rollarcoaster...i get 3-10 follies all only 3-9 mms.
good luck to you but..
i would like to know if you find a good poor responce doc, and what his ideas are. keep in touch..
can i ask you how old you are???

Hi resolver & welcome. You have come to the right place for the best advise & support around! I live in Melbourne & went through Monash IVF. We did 6 cycles with no luck. We decided to get a second opinion & went to Sydney IVF - I got pregnant first attempt with them. I found out through my Sydney Dr that my FSH level was 11 when I first started with Monash. Monash never mentioned this to me. I was put on a short protocol with Sydney & this seemed to do the trick. The two clinics were so different in the way they run. At Monash you see your Dr & they plan you treatment, but they do not monitor you or do your procedures - it is whoever is on duty that day. At Sydney my Dr did everything, which I think made a huge difference. If you decide to move to Melbourne I would recommend Melbourne IVF over Monash. They run a little more like Sydney IVF. Sydney IVF, however, has the best success rates in Australia.
I hope this helps & let me know if you need any more info.

Miss Molly - thanks so much for this info - reeally helpful - so sorry you went through all that but how wonderful that a change to Sydney IVF produced a BFP! Our experiences at our clinic in Auckland sound like what you had in Melbourne - ie not having one doctor to "see you through" the whole treatment - I agree that continuity is vital.
I had a few more questions if you dont mind: I wondered - did you move to Sydney or did you just go up there for treatment? If the latter was it relatively easy to live in Melbourne and go to Sydney for treatment? How does the clinic cope with that?
Also what was the waiting time to see a specialist and start treatment with Sydney IVF? Also which branch of Sydney IVF did you go to and who was your doctor? Finally - were your previous 6 cycles all on long protocol or were some on microdose flare?
thanks for your help.
Hi Keekee - so sorry to hear about your 9 cancelled cycles - i had one and that was bad enough so cant imagine how 9 would feel. If I find out anything dont worry will definitely let you know!! though it seems MIss Molly's advice about Sydney IVF could be a good pointer - despite being in a different state from you of course.
I am 36 yo - I did long protocol - starting microdose flare in May.
Take care and keep in touch.
XRayem - Im in Auckland - but tell your DH we like Raglan! tghanks for tip about Sydney IVF - seems all pointers are to this clinic - congrats on your 23 weeks!
Cheekone - Hiya and thanks for that - yes realise Brisbane is cheaper so always a possibility also - congrats on your BFP too!
Thanks again gals for all the tips and keep in touch

Hi Marnie. So glad I can help. We stayed in Melbourne for our treatment with Sydney IVF. We went to Sydney for our initial consultation, but our consultant is happy to do this via phone. We had all our bloods and scans done in Melbourne & went to Sydney just for the EC and ET. The clinic is totally fine with us staying in Melbourne. We went to the city clinic & our consultant was Mark Livingstone - he is the most fantastic man to walk the face of this earth in my opinion!!!!! From memory, I think it took about three months to get an appointment. He also has the best scottish accent!! At Monash I only ever did the long protocol. Another lady on this forum, Heather, also went to Monash (but in queensland), she then swapped to Sydney IVF & also got pregnant first shot. Her dr was also Mark Livingstone. I found Mark to be very upfront & honest about our chances of success. Hearing this was confronting, but we needed to know the truth. Our Monash Dr kept saying "Oh don't worry, you'll get pregnant". I think some IVF dr's are cash cows!!!!
Please let me know if you need any more info as I am only too happy to help.
Take care
