Is this pulling normal??

Post by wannababyIVF »

Hi everyone, I am about 5 weeks and 3 days and I am having a pulling sensation in my pelvic area. One day I’ll have it on one side and then the next day on the other side. Also, it doesn’t happen all the time. Then the other day when I sneezed I had a really sharp pain, then it went away. Is this normal?

I have spoken to friends who have had natural pregnancies and they do not remember the pulling. Only the uterus contracting, almost feels like cramps (which I also have). Not like AF cramps though. Someone told me this is my uterus getting ready for the baby. I also read somewhere it could be the progesterone. I know every pregnancy is different but is the pulling something that usually happens with IVF? Is anyone else experiencing this? I am so nervous about etopic or m/c. I have my first ultrasound this Friday. Hoping for reassurance that everything is going as it should be and that the baby (or babies) are where they are suppose to be.

I would really like to know if anyone else is feeling the pulling or cramping sensation at this stage. As most of you already know...it's difficult not to worry this early on. :-(

wannababyIVF - This is very normal. Your friends probably do not remember the feelings because they did not know they were pregnant yet. The pulling and wierd pains will be there throughout the pregnancy. It is usually from the uterus growing or your ovaries recovering from the treatment. Good luck with your miracle!

Ha! I thought I was the only one. I experience it a lot too.
Specially after I've been sitting or laying down for a while, and then I get up? It's weird... oh, and I definitely notice it when I sneeze. It's like, "Aaaaaaa-CHOOO!!! Ow." LOL I get small pulling cramp feeling in my uterus too...

It's normal I think. =)

Just means your pregnancy is progressing along nicely!

It sounds like round ligament pain. When your uterus grows, it pulls on the ligaments which causes a sharp pain or pulling sensation. It's completely normal. It is most common on the right side, but you will feel it on both sides on and off. You are feeling it a little earlier than most, but due to the fertility drugs everything happens a little differently than with a natural pregnancy.

Congrats on your BFP!

Hi, I agree with LauraLou - sounds exactly like round ligament pain. Some doctors will tell you it will only occur later in pregnancy but many acknowledge people are different and it is actually fairly common to have it in the first trimester too. I'm ten weeks along in a natural pregnancy and had a lot of that about 4-5 weeks ago although it was so early.

Have a happy pregnancy!!!

Hi Ladies,
Thank you so much for responding to my question! This makes me feel so much better. It's so wonderful to have you ladies to give advice. I think I learn more from this website than I do the doctors office. :P

Thanks again and good Luck to you all.

May we all have healthy and happy pregnancies! :D
