Bridget,

I'm so sorry that you are having such a hard time. There is absolutely no way that doing an HPT (and being upset about the result) would have altered the outcome. I've done a lot of reading about stress and success rates and I understand it is not a major factor.

I agree with what Shantala says. Your DH probably just said those things because he is upset.

Bridget honey, I really hope that yr test yesterday was so wrong - I can't tell you how many times I've seen posts where HPT was -ve, however when it came to the day, there was a great BFP! As others have said, no way would what you would have done yesterday changed any outcome from today - you can't beat yrself up with 'if only'. I'm sure yr DH was just upset and will calm down.

Image sending you big hugs

Bridget~ So sorry you are having a tough time. I too, took the HPT the day before and it was a BFN. Then, the next day got my beta tested and here I am PG w/ twins. My #'s were nice and strong as well. So hold on and think positive. Those HPT's are evil! Good luck dear!!! I'll be praying for you today!

Hi everyone and thank you again for your replies - I did take the 2nd HPt today and is still negative. Will go for for blood test on Monday, just to confirm things, as we need to draw the line.
DH has calmed down and is really beating himself up over his reaction - as you said, he was just reacting to the news. he was most upset by the fact that I went through it on my own without him there to help me.

I know there's a reason for all of this, just hard to figure out what it is at the moment
God bless to you all

Bridget

I am so sorry to read your news. I have done HPTs and not done HPTs. I have laid down for days after transfer, done nothing, done acu and carried on as normal. In my mind, I now realise that nothing changes the result. The sad fact is that if the little ones don't want to stay then there is not much we can do about it other than everything that we are all doing already. It is so frustrating.

Be kind to yourself and your dh. Treat yourselves. This is so hard. And I know how much you'll both be hurting now.

Sending you huge hugs.
Carolyn

Hi everyone, I'm typing this in a state of shock as despite everyone warning me to keep away from the HPT's and to wait for the blood test, you all know what I did...well today's blood test at the hosptial has shown a BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will post a new thread about the dangers of the HPT as I really put myself through it over the last couple of days and could have easily resorted to drink,,,chocolate etc etc, but something kept me hoping.

The nurse gave me the results today over the phone, but has said that they need to send the blood away for a quantitative pregnancy test- can anybody tell me what this means please?
I know we get the results of this tomorrow, but we're not sure whether we can be happy now or not?
I'll post this message on all of my threads as am desperate for an answer to this-
