When are follicles considered too big?

Hi,
On day 10 I went in for my ultrasound and came out feeling great. I had 14 follicles all generally in the same range - 1.3 - 1.7. They told me to come back on day 12 for another ultrasound. I did and apparently I had really developed. I had one which was a 3.0 and another 2.7. The others ranged between 1.5 and 2.4. Will the 3.0 and 2.7 be too mature now? Should I consider them 'lost' for the purposes of IVF/ICSI? If my ER isn't for 2 more days could I lose more follicles if the 2.4 grows much more? Do the follicles grow much once you take the HCG?
I have been through IVF before but I have never had follicles larger than 2.0 on day 12. I am worried that my 14 follicles may be reduced considerably over the next two days. Am I worrying for nothing?
I was so calm up until today! Now I am getting worried that I stimulated too well!

Hello,

I understand that you are worried. I was told that ovulation occurs when the follicular size reach 23 mm. Obviously, you have not ovulated yet if your follicules were 27 and 30 mm but you are sure soon to. Maybe if they tell you to take the HCG and do the ER less than 24 hours later, you'll be fine.

I had something similiar happen. Mine were getting huge but I was also told that it's the sack around them, not the egg so much. I can't remember all my sizes but I had 49 eggs and over 20 sacks that were 20mm and some even bigger! Obviously, I had a mild case of hyperstimulation and it made me pretty sore. I was worried about them ovulating but my Dr. reassured me that I would need the shot after having so much menopur, bravel, and lupron in my system. It's scary but it doesn't sound uncommon to me.
