Venting

Post by SnowWhite »

Hi all
This whole situation is already very emotional and straining on a relationship. I havent even got to the "real" stuff yet and the most difficult part thus far has been my DH. Of course he wants to have a child, but when it came to the last option of IVF....he FREAKED out! He was totally against the whole "manufactured child" or "Petridish baby" thing. He took it so personally and thought of it as a dysfunction or a disability and if we just closed our eyes it would go away. We have talked, cried, yelled...you name it and we have come to the agreement to go ahead with IVF. I know he doesnt like it very much and I know I can't really turn to him for the Greatest support. Not that he wouldnt be there for me, i just know he wants the IVF part to be over and us to just be pregnant. Don't get me wrong I love my DH to death and I know he isnt normally this way but me being a nurse I know and understand the medical field a little more then he does so I chauk it all up to mostly the "unknown. " We met with our RE a few times and he feels a little better about the procedure.

Im not DH bashing! It's just emotions are running high around here..!! and My AF is due anyday!!..lol

Thanks for letting me vent!

Hey ladies,

SnowWhite - so sorry to hear about the IVF strain. In the end when dh sees your baby, he will have no care if aliens brought the baby down. It is so amazing! Being a nurse will help with the shots and I bet you both will do great.

Nicola - give George a kiss from me. We don't hear him anymore in the states very often. Glad your down-regging is plodding along. I'm doing my first cycle without downregging. It never agreed with me very well either. Could you tell me the site to get the pic's from? I've forgotten it over the past year and miss it

Charlie - sending warm vibes to your frosties. You're our first to go of the April group (no pressure though  ) Do you know your test date already?

Karia - congrats on AF. Waiting for mine to come along and let the roller-coaster ride begin.

Anywho AF showed up today!! woohoo so I start BCP Sunday and do my injection class this week along with my mock transfer I still need to do..been putting it off...ugh.

hey snowwhite (nice name by the way!), don't worry about the mock transfer - it's painless and over very quickly. On the positive side it's also quite interesting as you will be able to see how many resting follicles you have and information about the positioning of the uterus etc. Once you start stimmulating you'll be up in those stirrups all the time and you just get used to it! Good luck my dear!

Hello ladies this is a long one, need to catch up…Sorry I left for awhile, I am a March/April cycler. I am currently posting in the March Thread but I think the April Thread is more inline with my dates! I start stimming on March 21st the 1st Day of Spring, EC April 2nd and ET April 5th w/assisted hatching or 7th w/PGD. I will test on April 16th Tax day!!! March has already had their 1st BFP…wow starting off GREAT!!!

Donna-Thanks for starting this thread…March has been great to me and I have met a lot of great women over there.

Nicolamark-Fancy meeting you here…I agree this thread is more with my dates!!! I to cry at the drop of a hat and DH is getting worried! Congrats on the George Michael tickets…wish I could go.

Kristin- I feel your pain, the Doc gave me the same story, drugs to strong!

Geckogirl-I am so sorry, I hope that lab makes things right for you. 2nd time will be a charm!!!

Daly-Wow, my heart goes out to you. Chloe was beautiful!! I don’t think I could handle something like that. I am so sorry and I know your little girl is looking down from heaven on you and this next time will be great for you!!!

Jovigal-Sorry to hear about your loss but everything happens for a reason and this time it will work and you will have a beautiful baby of your own early 2008!!! My EC is scheduled for April 2nd so Due date would be around Christmas so you will be early January!!! Also my FSH is 12.9. don’t let your FSH get you down! I quit my job when I started my 1st IVF, I mamaged low income apartments and my DH did not want me doing that anymore, so I am a stay at home mom. DH is a Doc.

AGallagher-Bloated…you can say that again! It was so bad I could not wear any of my clothes and I gained 8lbs. I am just getting back into my clothes and it is time to start again…LOL

Rebecca-Seem you and I will be cycle buddies!!! I can relate I am scared to do this again also. I was so devastated last time; it will kill me to get another BFN!

Welcome Snowwhite! Sorry the DH is having a hard time; it will get better and then when he holding his new baby all this crap will be like a dream!!!

About me:
This is my 2nd IVF. 1st one in January and on February 12th BFN. I have 3 beautiful boys (same story as Donna) from a previous marriage, 17, 12 and 10. I never though I would want more kids. Well now I am remarried and my DH has no children, we would love one baby together. I want a baby girl so bad I can taste it!!!

1st IVF - January 2nd I started Lupron, then stimmed with Follistim and Menopur, also took Estrace, January 29th EC (11 embryos, 7 fertilized) and February 2nd ET (1 great 8 cell embryo and 2 - 6 cell embryos, nothing to freeze). When that did not work the doc told me the same as Kristin’s story, drug to strong for me and new protocol next time. No Lupron for me 2nd try, just Follistim and Menopur. I will only stim for 12 days before EC. I really hope this works…it is risky!!! The Lupron keeps you from prematurely ovulating, without Lupron they will have to watch me very very close and if they see my levels rising to fast I will have to take something like Lupron or my cycle will be wasted.

Good luck all!!! Lots a baby dust.

daly - how's the remodeling going? Our house seems to stay in that mode, we can never get it all done. Try not to let it get you too stressed though, you don't need the stress with the IVF. Did you decide if you were going back to work this week? I wish you the best. Your question about the long protocal? I've only done the short one and used menopur (max amt), antigon and hcg then PIO.

N77 - I've never used the nasal spray. did you google to see what you could find on it? Or maybe post another thread to see if you get a response.

karia
- I'm glad af finally showed for you. maybe you can send her to my door next? :)

SnowWhite
- emotions are a BIG part of the IVF process and learning to deal with them are even more important. (if you figure this out, let me know. You could write a best seller book by doing this by the way  ) I'm glad AF has finally arrived for you. (that sounds funny to say that since we are WANTING BABIES). And vent all that you need to here. That's what we are here for...

Nicki - I'm glad you got a good break. Sometimes we need that. Sounds like you're gonna have a blast seeing old George. I don't think he's been here in the states for awhile. So, you're a lover of the '80 music like me too heah?

Stephanie
- good to see you on the April thread again. Sounds like the March thread has gotten off to a good start. That's great that you are a stay at home mom. After my m/c, I went back to the office part time to help keep my mind busy. I had such a hard time with it. And i have to say, it has really helped me. Also, it's helping me save some money back for this next cycle. :) I hope you get your baby girl this time!

rebecca - I guess you will be starting stims soon, correct? I can't remember, are you using menopur?

charlie - congrats on your baseline scan. Wow, you'll be the first of us to start the 2ww and you'll do great! We're pulling for ya.

Donna, Kristen and geckogirl- how are things going with you ladies?

For me, still working, putting back cash for my next cycle and waiting for AF to hit around April 2nd. I'll start stimming on day 5 if I have no cysts. Last year, I had a cycle cancelled due to a cyst. I'm sorry if I left anyone out. I hope all of you have a great Sunday!

Hey ladies of April,

Stephanie - Sounds like we're on a similar cycle. I'm not downregging at all and not doing Lupron for fear of over-suppressing my ovaries. I'll start with Follistim and Repronex then a bit of Antagon to prevent premature ovulation. Hoping my scan is OK without cysts for this cycle as I didn't do BCPs. Lets get our little girls in time for the new year! (otherwise my little boy will be wearing alot of pink...) Sending you XX vibes.

Jovigal - Keeping my fingers crossed for a cyst free scan for you. I have the same worry as this is my first without BCPs. Looks like I may be a week ahead of your cycle if AF comes on time. As far as the remodel goes. We have no entryway - bit of a large step to the front door and our lawn is dirt and my flowers died with the remodel (very hard on me as I loved my garden) I definately need to get some life back in this house. I'm going to hang some planters and get my hummingbird feeder bakc up. I'm really trying to relax about the interior. We are waiting for a cooktop to be installed, but we have indoor fridge and oven. YEAH!

Charlie - Still sending warm wishes to your little frosties. How are you holding up?

Nicki - Hope George was good to you! Sounds like alot of fun. I barely have the energy to rent a movie and here you are going to concerts. Way to go!

SnowWhite - hoping dh is adjusting.

Rebecca - I had to laugh about the stirrup comment. Isn't that the truth though...

Big hellos to everyone else out there!

I'm starting work on Wed...We'll see how it goes. NOt looking forward to the awkward and sometimes incredibly stupid comments people make ( I know they are well intentioned, but if I hear again that it part of God's plan for my baby to die or that "it wasn't meant to be", I may go crazy.) My response now is "I don't believe god kills babies". A bit harsh, but when you take a hard look at the world and see all the enormouse cruelty out there, I can't believe God is wishing it upon those people.

On a lighter note, currently I need to get blinds on my bedroom windows. My husband jokes that he picks up a $20 at our front door every morning in appreciation for his nightly exhibition from our windows. I suppose living in LA anything goes

Babydust to all!
