I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and I'm nervous. I have cramped since my transfer and it's driving me crazy. My dr's office just said the usual, " you body goes through a lot during in vitro." Then I thought it could be implantation, then the uterus stretching out, and the body changing and so on. The cramping hasn't been too painful, it's kind of sharp here and there running more vertical than horizontal. I also feel kind of a cramp and pressure on my cervix(sorry if that's tmi) I have a friend who does the same thing and has had 2 successful pregnancies. My 6 week scan looked good, but this week some of the cramping is a little worse. I never have any spotting. My dr is out of town this week and then I get to go have another u/s, but I just wonder it this just how my pregnancy is going to go like my friends or do I need to like go on bedrest or something?
Anyone cramping like this? Anyone been told what to do with cramping? Any reply would help!!
Shanny~ Unfortunately, I don't know much about cramping but my Dr. told me to expect some and I just never got it. Maybe you should continue to try make your RE understand how much discomfort you are having? I don't know???? Go with your instincts and I will be hoping that it goes away for you. Good luck and I will be thinking of you!!!

Shany I experienced the same thing you did. Right after my 7 week scan the cramping was very bad. They even took a second look to make sure one didn't implant in my tube. It had not and what the doc told me is the ovaries are so big this can be very painful. The cramping stoped about week 10. Then you start to get the growing pains Good luck and I hope everything turns out fine. I know with all that we go through to get PG everything worries us.
I have been cramping, too. I was really worried yesterday morning before my 8- week scan, but they said everything is still good. Here are two links I found that mention this cramping (with no bleeding):
"Cramps
Cramping is quite common in early pregnancy. Cramps are particularly likely after sexual activity or when your bladder is full. In the first trimester cramping is considered normal. " http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,23724,00.html
I have been told it is the uterus stretching. It could also be that you are still rupturing follicles from the stimulation process. Also, your ovaries probably hurt and they are close to the uterus, and that has caused me some pain.
RE: the shooting pain someone mentioned in the cervix - I get that too - also in other places in the peritoneal region (I'll spare you more details). Sometimes it almost makes me jump out of my chair! A friend and mother of three said she experienced these -- and still does some times!

Thanks so much for replying. Hearing that other girls feel this way and are still pregnant helps so much. The only thing that worries me is that I did a clomid IVF cylce. I was very sore after my 1st IVF where I had like 48 eggs and almost hyperstimulated, but this time was so much less invasive that I can't really imagine I'd be that sore. I'm just hoping my body is wimpy and I'm just feeling all the changes occuring.
I'm going to my new ob-gyn today, he likes to see his patients at 8 weeks and my RE can't see me until next week. So hopefully I'll get some answers that comfort me today and a right on track u/s next week. Good luck with your pregnancies and thanks again for replying!
Shanny
Shanny,
I've been having a lot of cramping too. I'm between my 5th and 6th week and have first u/s scheduled in one week. i'm glad you started this thread - i feel better knowing there are other women out there who are experiencing the same symptoms.

Well my dr appt. yesterday went well. When I told him I've been cramping he said, "That's great! You're uterus is growing and your body is changing for the baby." It made me feel so much better. He says he has lots of girls that cramp. He doesn't ever worry unless there is bleeding and then even then some girls bleed too. he didn't do an u/s which is fine cause I get one next week, but he examined my uterus and said it was felt great and was definetly growing! So for all of you that cramp and worry I hope it gives you some relief like it did for me!! Good luck!!
Shanny
thanks Shanny. You made me feel better by relaying what your doctor said about the uterus growing.
I've had on and off cramps or various types of discomforts in the entire pelvic regions since about a week after my transfer (and I'm almost 9 weeks now) I went through a frozen natural cycle so I had no ovary stimulation this time before the transfer.
Thanks again for easing my mind a bit more through sharing your experience!

Thanks, everybody for the info. I have hyperstimulation really bad. I've at least starting decreasing in bloating but when I started cramping today I got worried. (It hurt so much I took Tylenol and when that didn't work, half of a Darvocet.) This thread has put my mind at ease that maybe the cramps are normal uterine stretching and not more hyperstimulation aftermath.
I too feel like I'm kind of a wuss with the pain and IVF side effects. I'm realizing though, that maybe we're not wuss--that we all suffer and it's ok to acknowledge that stuff hurts without concluding that we are not strong!
